This is also quite interesting: http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/battlefield-2142/854112-list-fixes-1-51-patch-please.html#post11975444 Battlefield 2142 coming too Steam. Battlefield 3 is very very likely to be released on Steam too.
Well that fucking sucks dick. Say good bye to downloading from your disk and hello to a 10 hour wait on release day.
They already said that they would be giving PC special attention.
That's not enough.
Yo, BF3 ain't BC3. It'll be better. Less console game, more pc game.
Well that fucking sucks dick. Asides I don't think that ever happens.
Steam gets all games available in Europe before the shops over there has finished stocking them (mostly). Hopefully we can preload it and just unlock it when the countdown is over.
It happened with BC2, and you know it's true for many games, when devs get lazy Give us mod support, otherwise BF3 is a no go. But they did say frostbite has horrendously hard to compile maps and model for, but oh well.
BC2 was a sequel to a console exclusive game what were you expecting? Of course it's going to be made to appeal to console gamers.
Yeah, okay sure. Devs can't fix their shit, so we have to come up with a makeshift fix for it (and sacrifice the ability to communicate) instead. Totally reasonable.
Devs don't have to fix their shit since "overlay.exe" can be anything else than an overlay. So, yes again. Makeshift fix or move on. That's just how the cookie crumbles. Discussion just took another 360

I'm beginning to think that they wont release it period. Anyway the fact that Northern Strike is going to be free is nice.

And maybe not 2 years later. Probably 2 years later. :smith:

I got GTA IV, Bad Company 2 and Mass Effect 2 that way.
No support for windows xp? Mannnnn I don't wanna wipe my HD.

I hope that the new battlefield game will use something that isn't punk buster. Right now in bad company 2 I get kick for like 2 minutes for some error. I fix the problem then get another error + kick.

And just because they whitelist it doesn't mean that renaming a cheat to that would allow people to hack, there's still the standard signature-based cheat detection you know...

I didn't want to make a new thread just to ask this. Are there a lot of populated U.S. servers in BF2? I missed out on its peak years because my video card sucked, but now I'm thinking I can still get it on the fun.

Last time I played BF2, which was a few months ago, they were all pretty full. You'll be able to find a server for sure.
*Bribery and "evil business" & such*
I just walk in and say loudly; "I see you've got "GAME II" in the storage, can I have it now if I pay an extra 5 dollars?" And then I walk home with a game and such. When I did it for the Halo Reach collectors edition I got it for normal price and not collectors edition price, so I saved 5 dollars by bribery and earlyism.
I want to play BF2 now..
I hope each side has their own equipment this time, unlike BC2 where it has the Call of Duty-ish system. Even Unlocks should be divided up between factions, like you unlock a class of weapons that are statistically identical, but visually are modeled after weapons native to their respective factions.

In my opinion the perfect Battlefield 3 would take the feel of the infantry combat from BC2 and the vehicles from BF2. The vehicles in BC2 just feel weak, they die almost instantly to everything, were as the BF2 vehicles actually made you take cover in BF2.
Even Unlocks should be divided up between factions, like you unlock a class of weapons that are statistically identical, but visually are modeled after weapons native to their respective factions.
I must agree here; I have absolutely no problem with different weapons of the same class having almost identical stats. Putting effort into creating visual diversity where none is technically needed breathes quality.
^ Agree 100%. If they absolutely need balance, they should just make the differents factions guns have the same stats (IE: USMCs M16 has same stats as MECs AK47)
One thing I'd like to see is the command(commo) rose brought back along with prone. I heard that prone wasn't include in BC2 simply because there wasn't enough buttons on the controllers for consoles. If this is the case hopefully in the worst case scenario the features are just not include on the console versions of the game.
