Only for the M1 Abrams. You can stand right behind other tanks like the M48 since their engine isn't a gas turbine one. This. Didn't even old BF2 have a rudimentary directional damage system? You could take a tank out with 1-2 shots from the rear instead of 3-4 against the frontal arc.
Yeah, only the M1 has that in real life (I think the T-90S does too though), but obviously it would have to be applied to all tanks for balance reasons. The main cannon firing can seriously fuck up people near the tank too so maybe they could have that damage players that hump the tank all the time, though I'm not sure what damage it could do to someone standing behind the tank. I think Battlefield 2 had something like that yes, at least I think I remember them announcing it before release, no idea if it made it into the release version of the game. [editline]20th March 2011[/editline]
The T-80 has a gas turbine too but its exhaust grill is much smaller than the Abrams though. Nevertheless gas turbines are hideously expensive compared to good old diesel and I don't think something granular as tank-specific hazards being implemented for BF3.
I don't think so either, but I just hope they'll somehow discourage engineers from amassing behind a tank (it'd be nice to be able to back up without killing 5 teammates).

Hitting tanks with rpgs from rear seem to do more damage then straight on.
How would you guys feel if they added gore? Rate agree if you want/don't mind gore. Rate disagree if you don't want/mind gore.
All can be solved if they made a delay for entering and exiting vehicles. They should have put this feature in every bf game.
Just give us something like Halo has Dice!
I'm pretty certain BC2 have some sorts of directional damage system. I have the explosive damage perk too if that matters.

Just clearing things up.
I would be fine with 4 classes as long as medics don't get LMG's, really dumb decision.
This breaks since youd need more than 4 then
This breaks since youd need more than 4 then
Perhaps break Assault into Support and Assault much like the BF2 classes? Stops assaults form sitting on ammo boxes and firing 40mm rapecannon at your shit constantly without having to have another guy nearby, and stops Medics ending up with the LMGs.
It seems AT-4s one shot tanks from the rear. At least I've noticed. I have the explosive damage perk too if that matters.
If you manage to shoot a tank between it's hull and it's tower I think it's always a one shot kill.
This breaks since youd need more than 4 then
Nah just take the the 2142 classes. Medic+Assault Sniper+Specops Support Antitank+Engineer It works remarkably well I tell ya.
An actual animation of entering and existing the tank would be awesome :buddy:
That would be awesome. I hate to bring this up, but they sort of nailed entering vehicles in Halo 3/Reach. Something similar could turn out very nice. I honestly wouldn't mind waiting 10 seconds if it involved my character climbing ontop of a tank and opening the hatch, lowering himself into the seat and adjusting the seat/settings to his liking before carrying on.
Nah just take the the 2142 classes. Medic+Assault Sniper+Specops Support Antitank+Engineer It works remarkably well I tell ya.
Yeah, definitely better than Assault+'Support' as in BC2. An own support class is way better.
Yeah the burning hot exhaust is pretty much unique to the Abrams, for it is one of the only tanks with the gas turbine.
You guys realize it is not THAT hot, you can be behind an Abrams when it is turned on. If the Abrams is in full motion and moving at speeds over 30+ MPH the exhaust from the tank is pretty hot but not enough to seriously injure you. As for the decompressional forces in the front of the tank when the cannon is fired very few games depict that with the exception of arma 1 and 2 for good reason. It depends on a lot of factors as to what actually happens. On top of that the decompression is in a wide cone that starts from mid barrel and outward. So hugging the tank would be SAFER then to not be.

I have no clue how helicopter crews would escape though. But I really hope they do add enter/exit animations, it's so annoying to about to kill someone only for them to instantly jump into a tank; or vice versa if your killing a vehicle.
Nah just take the the 2142 classes. Medic+Assault Sniper+Specops Support Antitank+Engineer It works remarkably well I tell ya.
This, so much. If they must have four classes then they definitely should use this format or something similar.
They could just have 5 classes too. I remember someone else posting something similar to this but I don't remember exactly: Assault: Assault Rifles, 40mm, Other assaulty things etc Recon/Sniper/Whatever the hell you want to call it: Self explanatory Support: LMG and ammo Medic: Carbines and health/reviving Engineer: SMG and anti-tank stuff A while ago someone made a much better post saying basically this, so original credit goes to them. I'm just too lazy to dig it up.
Only Sights no other attachments.
Silencers!
Yeah, only the M1 has that in real life (I think the T-90S does too though),
T-90S uses good old diesel.
Silencers!
Suppressors and no. They're not needed in this sort of warfare.
I just got an awesome idea of how after being hit by a missile, a helicopter pilot would look down at his seat belt and undo it, look towards the door, show their hand frantically open the door, and then tumble out, flipping end over end, as the helicopter spins away. Games have a long ways to go in animations. Maybe I'm thinking too big. It would be nice if people actually tumbled out of moving vehicles instead of just being "dropped" from the point they exit from.
An actual animation of entering and existing the tank would be awesome :buddy:
Even if they don't want to bother making animations, they could at least make you hold a button for like 3 seconds until you enter lol you chase me I enter tank and one shot you
Force people to use C4 and make noob tubes an unlock.
give parachute a 5 second delay so you have to press a button within that time to pull your chute if you don't you fall to your doom
Anyone remember parachuting down minuscule distances in BF2? And also falling for miles and using the parachute 10cm over the ground, so to survive.
give parachute a 5 second delay so you have to press a button within that time to pull your chute if you don't you fall to your doom
I think BC2's parachute is alright. Battlefield is an arcadey game, it would ruin an awesome moment, running out of an collapsing building, jumping off the top floor, and then dieing because you didn't press a button in a time limit or something. Just have it good old fashioned jump and hammer space.
Anyone remember parachuting down minuscule distances in BF2? And also falling for miles and using the parachute 10cm over the ground, so to survive.
Yeah, I still do that in BC2, lol.
Okay, so anyone got the specs needed to run this at all? I need some shit to know where I should upgrade to
Am I the only one kind of annoyed by the presence of a killcam? It seems really cheap to me.
Am I the only one kind of annoyed by the presence of a killcam? It seems really cheap to me.
what 600th post saying "what" yay
Am I the only one kind of annoyed by the presence of a killcam? It seems really cheap to me.
I like it because it encourages snipers to relocate
