gulf of oman had the player controlled turret
gulf of oman had the player controlled turret
Every map with the Aircraft Carrier had 2 Player Controlled Turrets. One on the Rear, and one ontop of the 'building' in the middle-ish.
I reckon a convoy game mode could be pretty good, but instead of having AI driving have actual players, just an idea
I want to see a Guadalcanal remake, even if it doesn't make sense compared to the war locations.
Then if one team controls the island long enough for the assault on the other to carrier to begind, something could happen, like an EMP Strike or a Stealth Bomber knocking out the Defences, allowing them to assault the enemy's carrier.
Or perhaps something a little less CoD? Why not just make each capture point a missile launch location and by capturing the point your actually just reprogramming the missiles? There's really no need for the enemy to easily be able to spawn rape the other team with jets and attack helicopters; if the other team sucks they deserve it but it shouldn't be easy, and all of the carriers defenses shouldn't be taken out by an EMP from nowhere. Besides if there are amphibious APCs and boats like in BF2 it should be easy to get a large number of troops onto the enemy carrier.
Which will be... ?
Around the same time Duke Nukem Forever comes out. Wait. It's got a release date now, so about the same time HL2:EP3 releases. 1.51 for BF2142 has been in perpetual beta for almost a year if I'm not mistaken.
I reckon a convoy game mode could be pretty good, but instead of having AI driving have actual players, just an idea
At the first sign of danger, everyone would scatter. Hell, the second someone sees a misshaped rock with a twig, everyone's heading in other directions. EDIT: Well, I just finished Project Reality a while back, and the exact same thing happened when we moved out supply trucks due to a bad call by a squad leader, and everyone followed suit. We lost 2 trucks falling off a bridge, and a lot of good men that day. Once that happens, you come to conclusions.

By restricting you from the enemy base with the punishment of death, it's more like BC2 than anything. It's just more creative, with the Enemy Base actively defending itself from you until it's time to attack it. It's a fair alternative to the Titan's energy shields, which we cannot use for obvious reasons. The EMP was just an excuse for why all the Defenses quit working without killing off everyone on the deck, maybe it can come from an NPC Stealth Bomber or Cruise Missile, or the NPC Bomber just launches missiles at all the defenses and breaks them. As for Boats and APC's, the NPC Gatling Guns can shred them, Gatling Guns are used for AT you know.
Titan wars was fun, but I liked Coral Sea in 1942 a lot better. You would have lots of dogfights and ship bombing, snipers trying to camp on the islands, engineers repairing the ship, and even demolition crews sneaking about the enemy carrier. BF3 should have something like that again.

Or you know, the aircraft carriers could have automated turrets that shred boats and aircraft that need to be taken out first.
I think you misspelled battlefield 1942
Battlefield 2142 was by far the best (in my opinion).
I hope I didnt come off as an ass, I really dont know how good it is. Been out of the computer loop for 5 years
realistically I would say medium settings.
realistically I would say medium settings.
We...dont have the minimum specs yet? We havent even seen screenshots to at least guestimate what type of rig it'll take to run at high settings.
I hope I didnt come off as an ass, I really dont know how good it is. Been out of the computer loop for 5 years
That thing's stronger than the laptop I run Bad Company 2 on, and I run it on all high with I forget what AA. You should be fine. I'm actually looking at that model to replace my current laptop, so I personally think you're golden. That said, we don't know anything about system requirements, so we'll have to wait and see.
I liked the spotting system in BC2, it was simple, one button press and the team knows exactly what your seeing. [editline]6th February 2011[/editline] one other thing, I can't shake the feeling that BC2 classes are designed so that lonewolf players that are so prevalent on consoles 'Accidentally' help the team. ie you throw down a med pack to heal yourself but it also heals nearby teammates, same with the ammo pack but what I hated about that is that they gave it TO THE ASSAULT CLASS, in the early days of BC2 I'm sure most of the people who played assault didn't even know they had the damn thing and Giving the Medic a machine gun, nay, THE MOST POWERFUL WEAPON IN THE GAME, was probably thought up to make medic a more attractive class. but anyway the point I'm trying to make is this, give us our classes back but keep the combination's that make sense. like putting the engineer and anti-tank class together, fine this makes perfect sense and works quite well from a gameplay perspective. or specops and sniper as one sneaky bastard class, this also works. My class list for Battlefield 3 is as follows. Assault = Rifle and Grenade Launcher (general combat class, he shoots things with his gun and launcher, pew pew pe-BAHBOUSH.) Recon = Sniper Rifle, C4, possibly Arty Spotter and/or trip Mines (goes behind enemy lines and kills people covertly and breaks things that look important and also provide long range support.) Engineer = Shotgun, Rocket Launcher, AT Mines, Wrench (fixes vehicles with one hand and turns them to burning piles of scrap with the other.) Medic = SMG, medpack, defib (keeps the team alive.) Support = LMG, Ammo Pack, and some other goodies (keeps the team shooting and provides suppressing fire.)
Your class list is maybe realistic but it's bad in gameplay. Support sounds like "I have a huge gun, infinite ammo, some other goodies - fuck you guys I'm the best class" And Medic is like "I have a small SMG and a medpack, which won't help me much when some man-tank with LMG will shoot me dead in a second" Which class would you select?
I always liked the classes from BF2 It felt complete and they should keep them the same but updated
We...dont have the minimum specs yet? We havent even seen screenshots to at least guestimate what type of rig it'll take to run at high settings.
I think that BF3 will have pretty close specs to BC2.
And I can save people.
Medic because the guy with the SMG is quicker than the LMG.
This is not team fortress, how is that an advantage in a battlefield game?
This is not team fortress, how is that an advantage in a battlefield game?
Getting around cover faster? Having smaller weapons in Battlefield has helped me quite a bit, having more sprint time due to lighter gear is a life saver at times.

The PP-2000 is amazing. Assaults, Engineers, Recons, and Medics, all have fallen before me and my PP-2000.
Solo infiltrations on the enemy base just to destroy their UAV asset. I must have the ability to do that on BF3.
Made a shitty BF3-anticipation Windows 7 themepack: http://filesmelt.com/dl/BF3.themepack Basically just changes some UI colors and makes your computer go DUN DUN DUN DUN DUUUN DUUUN (BF2 intro theme soundbite) when you log in. Also gives the menus those quirky click sounds from BF2's in-game UI.

But I don't play Engineer enough, too busy healing fools and shooting into the air.
