Are you implying that a mod can be better then BF2 vanilla? Blasphemy, burn the heretic!
Project Reality.
Project Reality.
Apples and oranges.
Project Reality.
I played project reality before. Only about 4 matches. 2 of them were fat old guys telling our team to watchin a building/road and wait to ambush, we sat around for seriously 4 hours and ended up only having about 2 attacks from enemies. The third was just confusing shit with smoke grenades everywhere and my squad leader was stupid, and then when I was getting some progress in the 4th I was banned for not having a mic
Project Reality.
Ah yes, the walking 10 miles to get shot out of no where simulator! funny, been playing PR for years and never have those experinces
funny, been playing PR for years and never have those experinces
Thats as magic as that one copy of gamebryo with no bugs!
funny, been playing PR for years and never have those experinces
Bullshit. I play PR a lot because it's fun and I've had plenty of experiences like that.
I'm not sure if this is a particularly relevant concern regarding pseudo-military simulators, but I personally think that Project Reality has absolutely no atmosphere or "personality" whatsoever. The inclusion of realistic elements certainly brings a degree of variety into the gameplay, but beyond that the game looks horrendously dull. I've never played it though. Maybe it's the camaraderie and teamwork that provide the flare that I'm just not seeing.
I don't want to sound like a retard, but this is the BF3 thread not the PR thread.

Probably late, but: http://www.vg247.com/2011/02/06/battlefield-3-designer-you-dont-kill-cod-by-trying-to-be-cod/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter&utm_term=vg247&utm_content=games
Kertz said in the Twitter Q&A session that “you don’t kill CoD by trying to be CoD. You kill CoD by making a better shooter.” During a Twitter Q&A session, Kertz also said it’s unlikely there’ll be a server browser for console versions of the game, which probably means due to technical reasons this will be cut the number of players from 64 – confirmed for the PC version – to 24, although Kertz wouldn’t confirm or deny these figures. Kertz also gave some further details such as: You’ll be able to lie down on the job MoH MP and BC2 used the same weapon and FOV systems… BF3 is an upgraded version Destruction is important for DICE, as is visual quality and vehicles. Consoles will be able to get the Limited Edition too. One of the cities is Tehran. An image leaked yesterday giving some details on the Limited Edition version of the game, which will release alongside the standard version this fall on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. The first Battlefield 3 teaser trailer hit last week, as did sparse details on locales and multiplayer numbers. The game will be shown for the first time at GDC in San Francisco at the end of this month.
"The game will be shown for the first time at GDC in San Francisco at the end of this month" Holy crap. That's news to me! [editline]6th February 2011[/editline]
What does "lying down on the job" mean?
Prone
“you don’t kill CoD by trying to be CoD. You kill CoD by making a better shooter.”
I just grinned at this line.
Oh hey, I still have BF2 installed, cool.
I went to reinstall BF2 and i can't find my 2nd CD or my key.
I went to reinstall BF2 and i can't find my 2nd CD or my key.
Pirate it? You do own it, so it shouldn't be an issue. (User was banned for this post ("Suggesting warez. Even if one owns the game, pirating it is still illegal." - Orkel))
Pirate it? You do own it, so it shouldn't be an issue.
No multiplayer what's the point.
No multiplayer what's the point.
Why does everyone dislike bots? :saddowns:
[editline]6th February 2011[/editline] Have you played BC2? SMG's are fucking awesome in it (especially the first one the engineer gets, which name escapes me at the moment, you could snipe people with that thing from hella far) and would suit the medic just fine. You could put carbines in with smgs though, kind of like what they did with the SCAR being in that category even though it's technically a Rifle.
The only actual sub-machineguns in Bad Company 1/2 were the UMP, PP-2000 and the Uzi, the rest, as far as I'm concerned, are carbine assault rifles. And yeah, the 9A91 was pretty damn good, the first time I played BC2 (On the PS3 no less, I'm shit at console games), I took on an entire squad for about 5 minutes until I ran out of ammo and started using the RPG :v
Unnecessarily complex, medics would be killed by the hundreds trying to revive people in the line of fire if they had to stand still and hold a button down to fill a bar (even with the new drag ability it's still unnecessary tacked on hoop you would have to jump through and would only serve to slow the game down.)
That's my point though, reviving people who are down in the open is tactically, a retarded idea. A revive process that takes more than an instant would encourage use of this system. I don't think getting revived and immediately shot because your medic's an idiot and there were enemies nearby is very fun. The fact that reviving is instant in BF games has annoyed me a lot for other reasons. Say for example, you kill a guy with the last rounds in your mag. You start reloading, and from the corner of your screen you see some bunnyhopping cunt jump in with his shock paddles and get his mate up. Bang, you're dead. Whereas with a long revive process, what'd happen is mister bunnyhopper would have to actually stay still for a few seconds which you just used to reload and shoot him. It depends on your preference as to how realistic you like your games.
Why does everyone dislike bots? :saddowns:
I'd like the bots if they weren't borderline retarded. and if I could use them on 64 player maps.
Apples and oranges.
Red apples and green apples, more like. Or red oranges and gr yeah Personally I see PR as one of the best things to happen to the Battlefield series. Once you get a mic and play in the right servers (Tactical Gamer, *NwA*, UKWF, =MeRk=) it becomes a lot more fun. If you're not an idiot you won't get shot, generally speaking, and if your team isn't full of uncooperative twats you won't have to walk those "10 miles".
I'd like the bots if they weren't borderline retarded. and if I could use them on 64 player maps.
1. Raise difficulty 2. Use the mods
Another thing I hate about Bad Company is the lack of firemodes. In BF2/2142 you could switch your assault rifle to semi-auto and actually be able to hit targets relatively far away.
1. Raise difficulty 2. Use the mods
I remember playing on the highest difficulty and they were still running into the walls all the damn time.
I remember playing on the highest difficulty and they were still running into the walls all the damn time.
I've been playing with bots for 5 years (I got BF2 shortly after it was released, only played online once) and never have I seen them run into walls (except once in FH2 recently due to a shit navmesh). They do spin in circles sometimes though.
You played Battlefield 2 online only once? That's like sacrilege. Thanks for the mod links, though.
Yes, when I played it I was 5 years younger than I am now so you can guess that I was terrible. No problem.
