The #1 player in the world has 4802 hours. Probably cheated though. http://bf2s.com/player/82998931/
I was close to 3000 on 2142. I had a ton of soldiers I'd rank up to Brigadier General and then ditch for a new soldier. Such a great game...I miss gunship whoring, hopefully the air in BF3 will be fun.
As long as they fix the Spaz-tastic physics for Helicopters that were in BC2 we should be alright. I'm getting really tired of: HIT LAMP POST, HELICOPTER FLIPS OVER AND EXPLODES.

Scout heli's in BF2 also used to roll over , but only when you tried to take off again.
I think it helps keep noobs out of helis, gotta have skillz man.
I just hope that the helicopters handle like they did in BF2, or at least like the Huey in Vietnam. The Hind and Black Hawk, even the Apaches handle like flying bricks. To me, it seems like it was much easier to maneuver and Dodge in BF2.
After playing ArmA 2 for some time, I find the flying in BF2 to be really hard. Kinda unresponsive if you ask me.
I'd like a training course for helicopters and jets where you can practice landing and taking off etc.
Once I get used to it I digged it. I learned to stand still in diagonal so the gunners can fire and shit like that, can do quick dives and that kind of stuff that makes it really fun.
Found the choppers really easy, cant help but say, I was a pretty amazing pilot. Jets on the other hand, werent bad, but was always dominated by Joystick users.
The problem I had with jets was that I was always going way too fast to hit anything on the ground. I did great in doghfights though, had a dogfight lasting around 3 minutes once, damn that other guy was good at manouvers (I won in the end though). [editline]10th February 2011[/editline] Also one of the devs said "It wouldn't be fun if we had a Mach 2 jet, you'd fly over the whole map in 0.2 secs and where's the fun in that". I sure hope the "0.2 secs" was just the first small time span he had on his mind, because otherwise, unless my math is incorrect, the map would be around 100 metres long/wide.

I am so going to fill a jet with C-4 and crash it into tall buildings. Oh and buggies/ATVs/Humvees too.
The handling of jets and helicopters are like simulators, which in my opinion, made the game challenging and exciting seeing that you didn't just press 2 buttons and own the battlefield. You actually needed skills to own with the chopper and jet, something that more recent games does not require...
I hope DICE does not screw this up, if they do, I'm leaving the FPS genre forever since everything is CoD.
I am so going to fill a jet with C-4 and crash it into tall buildings.
This, except only to clear out buildings full of camping snipers while going "derka derka motherfuckers" over the mic.
Also, I am currently writing a fan-fiction story about the transition from the BF2 war to the BF3 war, the BF3 part is just how I presume it will be.
I wish this time around BF2 can utilize POV hats on joysticks properly. Had to use the Saitek programming software to bind the POV to mouse movements, and even then I'm forced to hold down CTRL while looking around which also causes the plane controls to freeze. Lazy DICE, they could do better than that. I usually avoid planes and helicopters altogether however since I don't like being teamkilled over them and I loathe useless planewhores.
I usually avoid planes and helicopters altogether however since I don't like being teamkilled over them and I loathe useless planewhores.
Same, but more because I'm a shitty pilot, sure I take the black hawk now and and then to help the team but I'm more of a Tank commander.
I'm more of a Transport driver and I loved too just roadkill the loads of people with the fastest Transport vehicle and watch them fly 200 meters infront of me <3 Sweet BF2 physics :v:
This, except only to clear out buildings full of camping snipers while going "derka derka motherfuckers" over the mic.
Get a jet, place all the C4 on the nose, find a wookie-infested (if they are wookies, otherwise just sniper-infested) building (preferrably large, such as a hotel), fly up as high as the jet allows you, then fly straight down with full thrust right on top of the target building. Should take care of the wookie/snipers.
And here i am with crossfire 5770's and a i5 playing BC2 @ 30 fps :smithicide:
And here i am with crossfire 5770's and a i5 playing BC2 @ 30 fps :smithicide:
At least you can play the BC games... I can play neither plus my BF2 game is unplayable after the 1.5 patch :crying:
I hope DICE does not screw this up, if they do, I'm leaving the FPS genre forever since everything is CoD.
Except you know...tons of other FPS's. Borderlands, Bioshock series, Halo series, Fallout, Left 4 Dead series, Team Fortress 2, Counterstrike, Killzone series, Resistance series, Brink, Breach, Metro 2033, Bulletstorm, Crysis series, Homefront, Duke Nukem, Fear series, Deus Ex series Yep...all looks like COD to me.

I'm not sure whether or not I should upgrade. I get a mouse delay when I go for DirectX10 in BC2, but I'm hoping that is bad optimization. Do you think the specs will be risen for BF3, or stay somewhat the same?
Do you think the specs will be risen for BF3, or stay somewhat the same?
They would probably be risen for BF3, but I hope not to much so that I won't need to burn my wallet just to afford a brand new computer with enough specs to run the game at max :smithicide:

Yea, I like the idea of a flight training mode. Have an offline practice area where you have to be able to do certain moves like take off a chopper, hover for 30 seconds in a small area, then land it. Maybe have different levels of flight training too so when you want to be a gunner in a chopper, and you see that the guy piloting it is a top-tier pilot, you know you're in good hands. And it can also prevent the new players from jumping right into a pilot's seat, only to crash it with 5 passengers on board. "You do not have sufficient training to operate this vehicle. Please complete a minimum of Level 1 flight training in the main menu"
The #1 player in the world has 4802 hours. Probably cheated though. http://bf2s.com/player/82998931/
I've probably put just as much into SP.
And here i am with crossfire 5770's and a i5 playing BC2 @ 30 fps :smithicide:
that doesn't sound right. I have a i7 860 and GTX470 and run it 1680x1050 all max 8xaa with 60 fps. You should get more than 30.
Good idea except the restriction. Breaks the immersion to have to exit your game and go do some stupid traning.
which is why it's not in. they'd be optional at most.
