I am so going to fill a jet with C-4 and crash it into tall buildings. Oh and buggies/ATVs/Humvees too.
:foxnews:BREaKING NEWS: IS BF3 A TERRORIST SIMULATOR? IS DICE UN-AMERICAN? MORE AT 11:foxnews:
Driving a Humvee through a building, that would be cool.
Badass, just like in the movies while wasting your ammo into the air screaming like Kratos :v:
Hate to bring it up again but can anybody help me with my PunkBuster kicks in BF2. Getting unknown API error 1331333 after about 3 minutes in game.
If there's realistic destruction then I bet there's going to be a lot of effort in finding the best way to take down any building; would be sweet if you could set up a explosion in such a way to make a building fall on another building full of enemies. Which brings up an interesting point, where are the flags going to be if everything can be leveled; you can't put them in buildings because they could fall down and it will look weird having all the flags in the middle of the street (for city maps that is).
Is dice un-american, I'm sure they're swedish.
They are.
If there are skyscrapers, people are going to spend the first month at least crashing planes into them, i'm calling it now. [editline]10th February 2011[/editline] Can imagine it now: "OH SHIT A TANK" *Careers off the road into a nearby building and embeds itself*
What when you're driving trough a normal street and suddenly the tank bursts from a building.
What when you're driving trough a normal street and suddenly the tank bursts from a building.
cue the music.
I hope they have: FLIR on tanks and helicopters Night Vision Goggles for Night Maps(That are not unlocks please) Man-Portable Anti-Air Weapons(Stringer, Strela, and ETC) Player-operated Artillery Can't repair vehicles while they're under fire(Got annoying when you were trying to kill a tank that had Two or more people repairing at the same time. More realism with the RPGs and Missile Launchers(Add a back blast and make it so you can't fire them while on the move) No Instant switching between vehicle positions and infantry weapons Different Ammo Types for tanks and artillery (HE, AP, Guided, and ETC) You have to be Crewman class to operate Armored Vehicles and Pilots to operate aircraft. When a large piece of concrete from a collapsing building hits a person or vehicle it kills or damages him/her/it Implementation of Shrapnel with Artillery shells, grenades, and other explosives Different Support Options for the Commander(if in the game) rather than Artillery, UAVs, Supply Drop, Satellite Scan, and Vehicle Drop. Man Portable Crew Served Weapons(Heavy Machine Guns, Mortars, and Grenade Launchers) Laser Designators for Guided Bombs dropped by planes(more cooperation between ground forces and planes in general)
Yeah and the return of helicopter radio's. Albeit the vietnam era music will be mixed with some modern stuff.
Is dice un-american, I'm sure they're swedish.
That's the joke
no it wasn't, don't kid yourself.

Same with project reality. It's just nice to have SOME defense against aircraft as infantry other than an LMG [editline]10th February 2011[/editline] Also seat-switching can be exploited in Battlefield games. If they animated it where applicable or just added a time delay it'd be good.
Man-Portable Anti-Air Weapons(Stringer, Strela, and ETC) Giving everyone that power would make flying Helicopters suicidal.
The average infantryman in BF2 had no effective way to deal with helicopters. On maps like Sharqi Peninsula a single helicopter could dominate the entire map and SAMs pretty much did nothing against them (if they survived getting rocketed and gunned by the helo that is) After all, it's not like everyone and their dog would have one. Maybe the class that takes an anti-tank weapon can modifiy his loadout to have a MANPADS instead.

You had a lot of ways to dispose of a chopper.

Sustained 12.7mm hits to a helicopter's engine is going to take it out of the sky.

Make a squad called "M95 choppersniping only". BANG problem solved.
Make a squad called "M95 choppersniping only". BANG problem solved.
one of the many ways to solve said problem. probably one of the more unorthodox ways.
um.... your point?
Most of the alternatives don't work so well when the enemy helicopter can chug the damage you're dealing on him while quickly reorienting to blast you away with his rockets and cannon.

Remake of Strike at Karkand would be amazing. When it works and you're with a decent team, it's a fucking epic urban fight map
Remake of Strike at Karkand would be amazing. When it works and you're with a decent team, it's a fucking epic urban fight map
well it's coming with 3 other remade classic maps as Day one DLC free in all new copies of the Game. Huzzah!
Remake of Strike at Karkand would be amazing. It just turns into a 100% grenade-fest with the odd Medic sat as far back as possible with one of the LMGs taking potshots and healing wookies. Though I have had a fairly interesting stand off at the bridge to the industrial section before. About half of each team was dotted around it waiting for the other to slip up.

Otherwise half of the chopper pilots' airtime will be spent getting blasted with air-to-air fire (there is really no defense against TV-guided missiles or machinegun fire). I agree that portable Stinger-esque equipment is necessary. It doesn't even need to be that powerful, just enough so that the pilot cannot consistently go unmolested until the Stinger site respawns. A shootout at the Karkand bridge is really intense, but after a while the grenade spam is boring. I also have a feeling the only reason it gets interesting in the first place is because it's harder to lob an accurate grenade from across the river.

[editline]10th February 2011[/editline] just like an AT emplacement isn't the only way to deal with tanks. Jegus think outside to box people.
Not the only way (there's always more than one counter to everything), but the primary one in the absence of jets and this is the only time helicopters can be overpowered. It qualifies as primary counter on behalf of being, to an extent, consistently successful throughout various situations and as primary counter it is underpowered which leaves players with improvised counters (such as APC's, AT missiles and even M95's). When improvisation becomes routine the balance needs looking into. Again, it's not game breaking by any means but it is a frequently occurring feat on maps with helis but no jets. And this comes from a player who isn't annoyed in the slightest by getting pounded into the dirt by artillery upon spawn.
If I can use C-4 to collapse a building onto an enemy squad, I will jizz all over myself.
