Been playing Hard Justice Mod for BF2 lately, fucking epic
So guys, what mods do you recommend with still active servers?
Other then Project Reality of course.
Forgotten hope and AIX.
AIX is also fun when you're not playing coop, it's like a more arcady version of vanilla battlefield 2 ( But the hand-weapons feel more realistic )
Forgotten Hope 2 is fun.
I wish PoE2 still had people playing it. shit was tight.
Aix is the next best thing though.

what aix was made for coop, conquest is very unbalanced
BF3 should really use geomod 2, just as long as they change it so everything doesn't seem like it's made of plastic and paper mache

Hey, sharker, guess what.
Frostbite 3.

Rushed, exactly, so if done properly, it would be great. Frostbite is terrible, it's all just predefined destruction.
Rushed, exactly, so if done properly, it would be great. Frostbite is terrible, it's all just predefined destruction.
My point it would be impractical messing with that kind of tech when they can achieve something practical and focus on the base gameplay which matters a lot more. If you focus on a gimmick like destruction you are guaranteed to fuck up gameplay, RFG is the clear example of that.

Frostbite 1.5's destruction is fine and 2.0 should have better destruction.

I agree with you that they shouldn't integrate Geo Mod but rushed and poorly implemented? It was fine.
The actual destruction was really cool, but everything felt weightless like smashing through walls didnt actually mean anything. I mean sure, the plastic looking pre-fab houses might break like that, but the actual metal and stone structures had no weight. Also, it always bothered me that there was no residual wreckage. everything just magically disappeared into the ground and then there was a nice, smooth foundation left. Sure Frostbite 1.5's destruction was pre-done, but when you blew something up, it had weight.

Being predefined doesn't make it terrible. It's close enough to not bother me and predefined destruction is better than none at all.
10 days 'till GDC, it better be good. :v:
Also my birthday
Forgotten Hope 2 is fun.
I really hate it when such good mods have only a small populace playing them, I mean FH2 only has a few servers and even then only one gets a decent amount of people. Unless an update is released. AIX isn't all that bad because most of the games are Coop anyways so a relatively small amount of people can still have some major fun.

I agree but i must say that i loved RFG's destruction far more than BFBC2. Far more.
It is a preference thing, maybe, i don't know, but RFG's destruction blew me away and i had no issues with it.
However there WAS issues overall, the reason why the game was practically an empty wasteland was probably because that many buildings in an urban environment wasn't great for CPU cycles and sometimes it would get choppy on large things being destroyed.
Maybe in 2020 we can have ultimate destruction but for now i understand the trade off.

They bullshitted about the buildings requiring to be like what their real-life counterparts would be like. You could either topple the whole thing like it was made of feathers or you could take out half a bridge and it wouldn't even drop.
[almost] 8 more days until GDC

How about 2011?
Funny thing is, even though I've had BF2 almost since it came out, my brother never touched it and now he and his friend coop in it all the time. I told them BF3 is going to come out and they're still wondering how it's possible to improve upon the game. :v:
Tell him that the netcode of BF2 is terrible.
zh1nt0 was asking for people to send in articles for a blog post on communities, so I did. we could possibly get mentioned on the BF blog (again), woop

hey guys i think when an engine has been upgraded to v2 and it is claimed to be almost completely different, it is going to be a great engine
When did we ever get mentioned in a blog post of theirs?
I bet this thread is going to skyrocket with posts after the GDC
Or at least that's what I hope'll happen :v:

Yeah, but, as said in the post, they play coop.

Incredible that a game's thread, which we know virtually nothing about, has 60 pages.
We should try and get a vanilla BF2 game going soon, or BC2. Pretty sure there's enough of us.
The thread stagnated until GDC because we've discussed every little detail from the Game Informer reveal and Alan Kertz's tweets.
We should play AIX on BF2.

I think Profanwolf has / had a server with that.
