Can someone translate the readable stuff? I tried with Translate, but couldn't make out all the words.
Is Project Reality Battlefield? Nope? Okay then. PR is a mod, just because it works under a mod that tries to be more realistic does not mean it will work in the main game itself when the main game is more arcade like. I could understand having them in the single player, SDK or Sandbox should one be released. but in the actual multi player they will be more a hindrance than a good, fun, feature.
except think of it this way
pr has civilians
pr is good
if bf3 had civilians
bf3 would be good
irrefutable logic friend

Is it because you have some sadistic fetish where you want to shoot unarmed people or what?
Is it because you have some sadistic fetish where you want to shoot unarmed people or what?
Shooting people is always fun. But I wouldn't want to have to choose between shooting people and capturing points. It's why I play GTA, less choice more shooty.
I can't stand how people are shooting down all these ideas because they'd be too "realistic" for BF3. Things like civilians, weather, and all that other stuff can play critical roles in battle - it'd be foolish not to include some semblance of them in BF3. Most importantly, most of these suggestions that people are making are not for the sake of "realism" (contrary to popular belief), but rather to add variety to the gameplay and to enhance immersion.

yes
I'd like to see some kind of weather effect that isn't blinding fog, which DICE are masters of it seems. Rain, snow, searing heat, etc affecting players a vehicles would be cool. But stupid shit like civilians in the multi player, no. They would serve no purpose other than to slow to game to a crawl while you avoid murdering them.

Weather would be fine, but civilians would just be annoying.
Oh god I hope there isn't the always present dust that was often in BC2

Nobody said civilians should be in multiplayer. I'd just like to see them in the SDK.
Dice treat their employees like people.
They make their games with love and not uber seriousness.
They always cough up something unique with its own great qualities.
They're Swedish.
That's reason enough for me to like Dice.
but after so many games, they still have problems with hit registry

It seems a lot of the fools who want a "realistic" battlefield want them in multi player. But yeah, having civilians in a sandbox environment seems okay. I could see them playing a part in the single player.
Didn't PR only have civilians when people actually played as them?
Random crowding AI would be pointless. I dont want to worry about civilians while I'm in a tank battle.

Yes.
I want a game in which the helicopter / jet / whatever doesn't necessarily just explode on impact, but gets deformed and grinds. How awesome would it be to do a crash landing in a chopper, completely fucking over the rotor blades, tail and everything, sliding along at 50mph before finally crashing halfway through a building and getting out with very low health.
"woah"
Top that off with the building collapsing on your face and you can replace it with porn in your fap sessions.

If that's even CLOSE to what the actual in-game graphics look like... Move over Crysis 2. We have a new graphics king here.
Holy shit, if it weren't for the visible polys some places I wouldn't be able to tell if it was a screenshot of a photograph.
Look at the damn reflection in the glasses.
My question is: Is it a render? I mean, considering the DoF and the soldier in the background in some sort of animation thingamajig.
[editline]23rd February 2011[/editline]
Damnit Dice, why'd you increase the fog/dust?
It's saying the marines have different equipment and it affects them (bottom pic).
The first one says that the environment affects the noises (bullet sounds).
I sorta want choppers to be able to take a hit from an Abrams tank shell again, It's sorta annoying getting blown out of the sky instantly by one on BC2.
Uhh, I'm pretty sure a helicopter won't be able to function very well after it's taken a hit from a tank shell.
Besides, think of it from the perspective of the tank, you took all that effort to perfectly line up a shot (or just extremely lucky) to have your shell hit a chopper, and it doesn't even go down. That would be disappointing.
Also, you've gotta be a pretty terrible chopper pilot if you let a tank hit you. Keep moving.

Well, looking back at all of the screenshots for games DICE has released in the past, they've all been just very high res screenshots with some hardcore anti-aliasing. They always show off in-game graphics.

You're not going to see civilians walking around in crowds on the rolling plains outside of an urban environment. How about random crowding cow AI?

Play the Vietnam expansion pack for BC2 and tell me to keep moving. :byodood:
You just cant get away from them.

On conquest mind you, rush is fine.
I'll be DICE's bitch if they put in the F-22 Raptor as one of the jets.
DICE has said it's leading with PC and not console because the PC crowd 'has been the one complaining'.
Is it just me or does that really sound like they don't give a shit about us or are trying to make us look bad?
You obviously took it the wrong way.
I'll be DICE's bitch if they put in the F-22 Raptor as one of the jets.
The F35 was in BF2, so it's possible. Unlikely, but possible.
Also, I'm guessing that it will use the Bradley for a US IFV but the LAV in the Back to Karkand pack.
Nope. Civilians would be a awful addition to the game. Battlefield has always been a arcade shooter, there is little to no realism in the game. Sticking it onto BF3 would be like taking CS: S and sticking ballistic effects like bullet drop on it. It isn't part of the game, it shouldn't even be considered as a option.
good point... I still would like to see an actual, accessible, mainstream realistic shooter somewhere in between COD and arma 2, guess i'll still be waiting :/

most current tech can reach that level of fidelity in the screen, DOF is post processing, the roughness of the fabric with normal mapping, and in general good artists (which DICE has no shortage of)
and the reflection in the glasses is missing the dust/fog - probably a cube map which would heavily suggest an in game shot
BUT in terms of new tech, with directx 11 confirmed, it's a good bet we'll be seeing some tessellation (see: http://www.nvidia.com/object/tessellation.html) :D
Also at the top of the image with the screenshot, it says 'combination of ragdoll and precalculated' (the next word isn't visible) so I'm guessing it's talking about animations. So ragdoll physics and animations?

Probably the same system in BC2 where some killing shots make a guy drop and flail around, and others make them clutch their necks, fall background, etc.
