The first challenge is going to be, how to get the jets, since everybody is all hiped up by crashing/using jets for the love of destruction. There are going to be huge rows of people waiting for them to spawn.
There are those who spam the E key.. and those who hold it. Those who hold it always get the vehicles. Works 100% of the time on BF2 for me unless there's another person there who gets this.
No commander mode? Shit... at least give bigger squads and squad leader please.
Let's just hope Squad Leaders gets a higher priority in battle.
They should be able to mark targets for aircraft and helicopters. They should also be able to be spawned on ( the only person to be spawned on in the squad ), and the requirements to be a squad leader would have to be a certain rank maybe.

My favorite vehicle kill from BF was in 2142 when I was alone guarding a point on one of the giant conquest maps, I see a helicopter(or whatever you call those 2142 helo counterparts) coming at me so I duck in a corner and hide so it won't see me. I hear it land and noticed they stopped the engine. I look out and see a whole squad including the pilot run for the flag. I run over to their helo, plant some bombs on the side and run back to my corner and wait. They get the flag, feeling like bosses they run back to their helo. But the own hubris would be their undoing. There are no clean getaways. It was rainin men that day.
Also yeah, pilots should get points for transporting people, maybe then they won't be so motivated to crash into tanks.
My favorite kill is from 2142 also. I was in a transport jet/heli thing with an anti-tank rifle. The heli was full up and we went to go get a missile silo (playing titan mode) when another trasnport heli comes in right under us. Our pilot, being a boss, hovers us above it. I manage to fire a shot at the transport weak spot on top and one hit killed it, and everyone trying to run away from it. Needless to say we got the silo and I got 5 kills in one shot. (Also the anti-tank rifle mad a killer sniper rifle in the right hands.)
If they had a modified version of wake island with 2 aircraft carriers and made a titan mode i think i'd be very happy
Never played BF2, but this thread got me excited. Is it still worth buying while I wait for BF3?
Yes it is, its been worth playing since it was released and it will be worth playing after BF3.

You might find the aiming in BF2... a bit different. But overall it's a real fun game. Jets and stuff.

Bigger island
Two aircraft carriers
More battleships
128 players

Would the aircraft carriers be the titans? Make it more realistic, plus then could move the carriers closer to land and then say deploy cars...
So I watched the "gameplay" video, and I'm absolutely astonished. I just hope that's ACTUAL GAMEPLAY, unedited. I want it to look that amazing when I play, and not in the trailers.

The devs have stated that all of that footage is not pre-rendered, although some idiots on the EA forums still think it is.
It may not be pre-rendered but it was definitely all pre-scripted
Not all of it. The body dragging, running and shooting parts aren't anyway.

I think 2142 did the squad spawning better - throw the spawn disk in a inconspicuous place, and once the enemy destroys it, you need a new one. At least everyone became part of the fight then.
I sometimes felt bad when I was squad leader in BF2 - I had to stay out of the heat of combat and watch from the sidelines, and let my team come back and attack. All you became was a mobile spawn that has contact with the commander.
I kinda hope I can look down and see my legs like in the trailer, too. Just throwing that out there.
I want to see some helo drop-offs and pickups. I try to do it in the UH-60 in BC2, but everyone's like "battle on frontlines and defend the points we have? Let me run back and switch to recon and camp for the rest of the game."
It may not be pre-rendered but it was definitely all pre-scripted
It was probably scripted, but most trailers are. As long as it's rendered in-game with the game's true assets then it's not a big deal.

Anything close to that that happened to me was on a 1000 ticket server on the map Heavy Metal. Basically we were losing so a pilot from my team(US) decided to be tactical and said on the team chat: Gonna do a heli insertion on A point, so I need people to come along. Heli was full, and then he took all of us as fast as he could to A point, and it was pretty hard since B point was captured by the russians so the VADS was shooting at us. Luckily he managed to crash the heli inside the A base, and we all got out safe of the heli and captured it.
Most of the russian team ran back to A point and we managed to defend it for some time, that being enough time to let our team capture B point and prepare itself to defend properly against the russians. We died and the russians re-captured it, but soon after we did it again and still captured it, though the russians were close so they re-captured it fast. Anyways, during the rest of the match our team still managed to defend B point and we won the match :buddy:
Though that only happened to me once, and I've been playing this game since it was released. I really hope BF3 will have more better/tactical players than BC2
Only 16 more hours until GDC.
Don't disappoint us, DICE.
Why do none of the guns have iron sights?

We'd need the possibility to quickly rope down from helos. Also more seats in helo than in BC2. And larger squads of course (6 was good).
If you could rope down from helos, it should be much faster than a parachute.

It would take too long to rappel down that the enemy team would just spam rockets toward it.
It would take too long to rappel down that the enemy team would just spam rockets toward it.
Why would they make it so that it's long?
Descending a rope has to be really quick, even in real life. There would be no point to make it slow in a video game.

I would really want that. The only problem is who would carry the rope?
I would really want that. The only problem is who would carry the rope?
How about just making it so that the chopper has 2 ropes and after they are used it has to get back to base to get new ropes.
Fast roping doesn't take that long, hence the name.
Chopper goes to hover, ropes are dropped, Soldiers get down. If the chopper has a squad consisting of 6 guys, it wouldn't really take that long to drop em down. After that the ropes are dropped to the ground and the chopper is gone.
And door gunners with miniguns would make sure there is no RPG threats nearby.

Apperantly, the acog has iron sights on the top of the scope it's in the teaser. almost exactly like this pic.

You mentioned more seats. More people to rappel down.
But whatever. To me it's no different than parachuting down. It just looks cooler I suppose.

But in parachuting you have a better chance of getting sniped in the air. :(

That's why you open it right before you hit the ground, like a normal person. :v:
