I have reinstalled and verified the game cache twice without any fixes. I'll try playing it in offline mode. [editline]a[/editline] Did not work.
You're SOL then. I have the game on Steam and sometimes it wants to work and sometimes it doesn't. There isn't a real explanation for it, but all I know is that if you leave it alone for a little while and then try again, it'll run fine.
Try downloading the latest video card drivers. http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-32bit-257.21-whql-driver.html
I've never had a single problem. [editline]06:41PM[/editline] Ninja'd mah autmergjej
over 1000 posts in June? Seriously, you must be postwhoring or shitposting.
glad i bought the box version lol all i hear about the steam version of FO3 is problems move the folder somewhere else and run it with FOSE
I have Fallout 3 on Steam and never had any problems.
It also said it couldn't find Xlive.dll.

Running your GPU at 79 degrees at IDLE temp is NOT good.
Get a GFWL remover and the Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch. Also update your drivers and verify the cache.
Your entire computer is terribly maintained, why are all of your components at max temps on idle?
glad i bought the box version lol all i hear about the steam version of FO3 is problems move the folder somewhere else and run it with FOSE
I still need that xlive.dll file
I've never had problems with my Steam version...
I got it to work by downloading Xlive.dll file. I however crash on fullscreen, not in windowed... Weird.
[IMG_thumb]http://i49.tinypic.com/2aam52q.png[/IMG_thumb]
I run it at nearly the same specs and have no problem, although your temperatures are twice as high. I have the same processor and it idles at a 34 degree average.

got Shitsta or 7?
got Shitsta or 7?
The screenshot says specifically WINDOWS VISTA. and NO, that isn't his problem. His problem is that his computer parts are ticking time bombs.
You're damaging your CPU at those temps.
Where do you guys get your XBOXs? I've had mine for over 3 years, and it's never failed on me, or gotten an RROD.
I had mine for 2 and it died on me. Thankfully i got a new one through the warranty. I was still pissed.
because the 360 never has any problems at all with heat. because you can count on a 360, the most reliable console of this generation.
That's strange. I remember going through 2 360's when I bought my 360 and ps3 at the same time. Odd. My ps3 still stands. Not a fanboy comment just throwing it out there. PC's will always be the best. Now that's a fanboy comment. Flame me if you will.
That was sarcasm.
I got it to work by downloading Xlive.dll file. I however crash on fullscreen, not in windowed... Weird.
You might have good specs byt it's not a surprise AT ALL that it crashes when you're idling at those temperatures. Clean out your computer, bro
Contact steam support, they get paid to answer your questions and since you paid money for the game you're entitled to that support.
holy fuck 72
Sorry for going a little off-topic here, But is 45 celcius (when in Idle) much for a CPU?
Sorry for going a little off-topic here, But is 45 celcius (when in Idle) much for a CPU?
Nope, it's fine.
Try launching it through Fallout Script Extender (FOSE) That disables GFWL when you launch it.
At the temperature your VC is going, I could make fondue on that thing. [editline]04:48PM[/editline] Yes, that sounds good, give me your Video Card. I want to make cheddar fondue.
Isn't 72c a little hot?
It's 18 short of boiling.
My old PC ran at 72c and had the exact same problem that the OP did. Guess what? The GPU had overheated and had damaged components! Isn't that fun?
