Monopoly doesn't require hiding any cards, and only some basic modelling - should be simple enough to accomplish.
Requires keeping track of a shit ton of money though, and also implementing a lot of cards

While unrealistic, it would be nice to be able to add a counter to a stack of cards for the money, so you know how many of each bill you have.
maybe like one of those bank cash counters?

For the money, just have large denominations as stackable cards, and smaller denominations as coins
A fantasy themed monopoly board would be pretty cool, and would excuse coins being used as currency.

It could have castles instead of hotels
How long until someone makes Pokemon?
There has to be a database with scans of all the original Pokemon cards, right?
Why is this dumb?
I think this would be genuinely awesome.
I know there is already the Pokemon Tradingcard Game, but this would be so much better.

I never played pokemon, i could never understand how the fuck to play it, it might be due to me being a hardcore yugioh fan and shit though.

I haven't played Pokemon as the card game like the guy above me, but if it's like Yugioh or MTG, you'd need to be able to hide your hand from other players.

All you needed was a person to walk you through it, and then you'd get the hang of it pretty easy.
As far as I can remember it wasn't any more complex than yugioh.
God damnit, now I want to play both again.

I keep forgetting that.
I hope someone can mod that ability into the game, because there's so many games that couldn't be added because of that limitation.

We gotta make a Cards Against Humanity mod. I'm pretty sure that game is "open source" too as long as you don't make money.
played a game with my brothers and the game turned out to be really fun. But it does really need more monster cards. And also some more town cards.
Not to familiar with board games but what is that lonely birdman monster card do? it says 2 d6 +5 or something and I was really confused on what to do with him. Wasn't familiar with the D6 thing so it took me awhile to get what that was.
If you defeat it, you roll a dice and if it gets a 5 or a 6, the card is returned to the bottom of the deck. When I played we decided to also make it give no gold if it was returned so that it wouldn't cause all the money to run out, but I'm not sure if that's intended. Generally, d6 or 1d6 means one six sided dice, while 2d6 (seen in the rapids tile) means two six sided die. So "On win: On 1d6 5+ Lonely Birdman is returned to the deck" means you roll one six sided dice and if it gets 5 or 6, it's returned.
Who wants to play, im at work and bored.
Anyone know how to fix lag?
I thought of a great addition. A shuffle button.
Just pick up a group of cards and press the button and it rearranges them randomly.
This is actually a really fun game engine. Why hasn't there ever been a board/card game like this in real life before? :v:
I would totally buy a physical copy of this game for 50$.
Can't believe I didn't notice this -
Games you should check out
Talisman, as someone already said
Runebound
Return of the Heroes
This is very similar to Talisman, except Talisman ends when someone kills the dragon (I own third edition, so fourth might be different altogether) after levelling up enough to be strong enough to pass the trials and defeat old red dragon.
It's fun with the right group. If you try to play it with people who like Euro's a little too much, they just whine about all the dice rolling.

Legally, you can recreate any game you want provided you don't use their art assets. You cannot copyright a game idea or game mechanic. You can copyright the way rules are written, but with this, the game can played however the players want to play it (meaning they could use any rules from any game, provided the pieces are available).
That is why words with friends is basically the same game as scrabble. The only difference is the board layout and the pieces are yellow. And MB don't have a legal leg to stand on to stop them.
Games using original IP's are also a touchy area. The guy who made BattleStar Galactica Express (free print and play fan game based on BSG) got permission from Fantasy Flight, provided he did not use any of their assets (he sourced all his images from media packs for BSG, and released it for free).
*Basically, I love Battlestar Galactica boardgame. Best social time I've had (I'm pretty quiet. don't drink, smoke or party. Just like to relax and play some games everynow and then).

You can already shuffle, just shake the deck.

Oh, wow. I didn't know that.
You know, I just realized how uncomplicated the engine is.
It really doesn't mess with the mechanics
Ill try to give a crack at checkers or something basic this weekend

http://pyz.socialgamer.net/game.jsp
also this desperate gods game seems more like Munchkins than anything else
I want to make a Yu-Gi-Oh clone but with my own made up monsters. Is Unity fun to work with? :v:
Aww nevermind, have to get Unity Pro :/
So, any mods for this that actually came out?
Yes and no.. Currently a mod is being developed that will open up the ability to more easily mod the game so others can make their own version of Desperate Gods..
Here's the link for the mod: http://forums.wolfire.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=17049
Me and my brother are thinking about doing a Dr. Who mod. I have only been working with it for about an hour but I think I have my head wrapped around it. Of course the finished mod would have custom card fronts, board, dice, coins (Mark of the corsair?), etc. No guarantees but if we end up doing it I will post it here.
