Wow really? I never had a single issue, well except for the physics glitches that the engine is known for. But no BSOD. Try a fresh install of windows :D
It's then way these "new-gen" games work. They are suppost to be that way so you buy more copys thinking your is broken. No but really, did you try reinstalling it? I had it do that to me but 5-15 minutes into the game and that worked.
I had the same problem Setting all of the settings to low worked for awhile. After that it started crashing at the ending [sp]right where you have to start the purifier[/sp] within seconds of loading. I downloaded a codec pack thing, and now it's bug free. I'll get the link in case you want to try [editline]09:07PM[/editline] Here's the codec pack: ftp://ftp.ku.lt/Windows/K-Lite/K-Lite_Codec_Pack_561_Basic.exe I downloaded it a few hours ago, since then it has been crash free I promise there are no viruses here Running on ultra now, doin' Operation Anchorage, lag and crash free since then
Please. Just share you frustrated experiences with Fallout 3
Paying to buy it. This is easily one of the worst sequels I've played; or best franchise-rapist, if you're a glass half-full type of person.

I enjoyed both Fallout 1 and Fallout 3. Fallout 2, not that much.
I never BSODed in Fallout 3. But the last time I had a computer that kept BSODing it was because of overheating issues. Though if it happens consistently on a certain part of the game then... I guess you just have bad luck. Something's broken on your computer that isn't broken for everyone else.
Really? It never BSOD'd for me, and it only crashed once or twice. The only annoying part was when[sp]Liberty Prime got stuck on the fucking bridge and ruined the scene by forcing me to wait 7 hours so he starts moving again![/sp] [editline]05:37AM[/editline] Also, unofficial patches are a must!

Before with the original Fallout 3, those with shitty sound cards had that choppy music though the Pip Boy's radio. But I don't think I had an issue with dealing with it. Also, it does it even with the Radio being off. This was supposed to be the fix to that. That or have no radio. I don't remember if I got it installed right or not. I will try this and see if it works.
I didn't read the thread but if I remember correctly a lot of games have problems with quad core processors.
Was working great for me.
The game is quite buggy, code and mission wise (I've got Three Dog talking about Aqua Pura, I haven't even gone to Raven Rock yet) I used to get fairly consistent crashes on my last install which randomly vanished, Now I've just got crashes to desktop when I go through doors or at random periods when I walk around. Of course, any blue screens I get are due to the nvidia drivers, and I don't get many since Vista and 7 are quite capable of restarting the graphics card driver.
On 360 I [sp]killed Three Dog, but instead of hearing the annoying bitch on the radio, I heard Three Dog. I went back to check, and Three Dog was there, along with his corpse. I killed him again, and it just kept repeating itself.[/sp]
I'm wondering if Windows didn't completely remove the old install of my drivers when I reinstalled. But surely it would've wiped everything off, including all traces of the old driver install. I don't know. But I pretty much have given up hope Fallout 3 will ever work.
Unoistall wondows - then Dban the drives - reinstall - install steam and drivers and try
To fix 99,9% of the problems in vista: cmd net user administrator /active:yes [editline]02:42PM[/editline] Oh and of course log into admin after that. And yes fallout is buggy, but it ran fine on my laptop.
Unoistall wondows - then Dban the drives - reinstall - install steam and drivers and try
Don't you think I have by now? Re-read the OP. I have reinstalled. I have reinstalled my drivers 5 times. I have reinstalled Steam.
Unoistall wondows - then Dban the drives - reinstall - install steam and drivers and try
The fuck is wondows? And why whould he unoistall it?
It never crashed for me nor did oblivion or the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R
I don't have Fallout 3, so I don't know for sure, but maybe this could help: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3808

It works on my pi- I mean, Linux distro of the game, so it should be fine.
Thank you. Is this only for the Retail version? Doesn't state it though.
I don't know how steam launcher works but if it doesn't check consistency I don't see any problems.
This isn't a "I need help with this game" thread. But ok, here. Case: Antec 900 OS: Windows XP Home (SP3) CPU: AMD Phenom 9550 @ 2.20GHz, Quad-Core PSU: Antec GreenWatts 650W Motherboard: ASUS M3A78-CM Memory: G-SKILL two 2GB @ 4GB, DDR-2 Video: ASUS nVidia Geforce GTS 250 512MB Audio: Onboard VIA HD Audio Monitors; Primary: Arnos Instruments H-W19 19" Wide Screen Secondary: Hitachi/HINT X93W D-Sub 19" Wide Screen As you can see, my hardware surpasses the recommended system requirements. Also disabling my 2nd monitor does not fix.
u need to overcock your cpu that should fix it
I had similar issues. It used to do it randomly while I was in the wasteland for seemingly no reason, as well as when I opened doors sometimes. Did it from anywhere between 5 minutes and an hour normally. I just turned a few settings down and bizarrely enough it now only crashes once every few hours if at all. This is with the retail version, with all addons.
I tell you. This shit is getting old. Having to start a new game everytime, because I fear the issue is in the save.
Fallout 3 has always pissed me the fuck off, it crashes constantly and I rarely get framerates over 30 fps.
Is Fallout 3 really that fucking buggy?
Welll Yeahh uhhh but.... well no bu---Yes.
Well... I tried both fixes. The sound fix, and the unofficial patch. Made it to Arefu, finally. Then when I get ready to leave the West's house, there's a knock on the door. I say.. "Uh.. hello?", the door opens itself and a blue screen with letters is staring at me. Me: OH NO!! It: BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH!!!! YYYYYAAAAA *lunges at me* There was blood. Everywhere. Meh... :sigh: Funny thing is I knew it would happen eventually... I just can't have nice things.
I know someone might have already said this, but compared to Oblivion, Fallout 3's engine is a godsend. At least Fallout 3 didn't bluescreen my computer just because I dropped a sword on the ground.
Bethesda needs to learn to make a stable game. I actually returned it because I couldn't get out of the vault, kept bsod'ing on me.
It is very glitchy, annoying bugs all the time. Not that much major ones, but the small ones like items disappearing and corpses spaz.
