Don't buy Dragon Age on the PS3. It sucks on anything but the PC. And for stuff others haven't said: SIREN: Blood Curse, Street Fighter IV, R&C - Future: Tools of Destruction and A Crack in Time.

I'd recommend against Killzone 2... But that's just me. Either way, go get Demons Souls, and Uncharted 2 for sure. Both are amazing games.

If something happens (new character introduced, flashbacks) you could always wiki it or something, but I did have a friend fill me in a bit before playing mind you.

My Big Boss run through of MGS4 ended with 24 hours of playtime. It doesn't include the cutscenes. So, if you play on normal. It'll be ~12 hours long

I'll second Um Jammer Lammy. I owned it for the original Playstation, and it was really fun. There's nothing else like it, trust me. The game has replayability in that it's short, but the songs are pretty darn catchy. (However, reading the warnings, it says that they removed the multiplayer and Co-Op, Sadly. I still recommend it.)

GTA IV because everybody has it.
