S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Megathread: R.I.P. Kostya Polar Explorer

I'm going through CS currently. Then I'll head onto COP.
While APB is downloading, I'll go onto CS.
Not saying CS is bad, but the accuracy on the guns in fucking horrible. Everything but pistols and snipers were like shotguns.
I used a TRs 301 for most of Clear Sky and it did just fine, shot a lot of bandits in the face with that thing. I had full accurary upgrades, SUSAT scope, silencer, nightvision, spent a while running around the Garbage at midnight shooting out all the little Bandit lights while they had no idea where I was. Good times.
I think that the CS guns are a little underpowered, I just can't kill a person until I don't aim for the head or the upper torso, once I even waster good three magazines for my AK just to drop a single mercenary in Dark Valley. By the time I got to Limansk I had three guns and about 400 bullets for each, and when I got to the CNPP I only had a few boxes left.

After upgrading they were fine, but yeah non-upgraded weaponry sucked major ass.

And that's when I raged. The upgrade system was so damn expensive and the cash was so hard to get (also Garbage) I couldn't even save up for a few Level 1 upgrades! However, if you do get them, the guns become a lot better than the out-of-the-box versions.
In CS, the bullets disappeared after X range.

on the ARs it was like 75 meters i think

So that means that the stalkers are having fun with NERF guns? No wonder why the range and damage is so bad.
Damn 3 pages and I was sure something was released. Oh well I still have doctor who!
I had the best memories in Clear Sky though. Pseudo dog army in the Dark Valley, CSI Chernobyl and all that.
Don't fucking spoil it for me! My friend spoiled the dream episode of DW for me and I nearly bloodfucked him.

Mah automerge it is broken

You also had some of the worst.

CSI: Chernobyl was more of Grouse's mission in CoP.
Looks like this stalker just......lost the game.
Pardon me if I've repeated this before in this thread, but I keep getting urges to get all 3 of these games. However I keep hearing opinions on how super difficult it is, so I'm at my wits' end on getting the series or at least the first one or (please don't kill me) sticking with Metro 2033.
It's not that hard. At first you'll think it's really difficult, but after a while you'll get used to the difficulty when you learn to use cover and always aim for the head.
I remember the first time I played SHoC.... Good times.

But dear god the rape!
I was scared as shit.
I remember entering Agroprom Underground back when I first played SHoC a few years back, I was already scared when I was in that tunnel in the beginning, that rotating orange light with its squeaking :geno:.
Yeah, that light still haunts my dreams :ohdear:

I was, of all things, surprised, how could bandits sit there, waiting for you. Poor bastards.
I shit myself on X18. Poultergeist lifted up some bones, I stared for a second thinking "what is that?", Poultergeist throws it at me, I freak out and empty a clip into nothing.
I played that level with the sound off and loud music in the background, didn't make it any less scary.

It wasn't that bad. All I needed to know was that:
1)Shoot everything that's in the air.
2)Fire is bad.
3)Jump.
4)Shoot lightning.
5)Drink energy drinks.
6)When in doubt, run.
7)OHFUCKPSEUDOGIANTWHATDOI... never mind, found stairs.
I got Clear Sky. What should I expect? Crashes and bugs?
If you patch it then it will be better, but still a bit buggier than most other games around.
I got Clear Sky. What should I expect? Crashes and bugs?
It's really not a bad game, in fact I'm playing it again (never finished it) with the Complete mod, and it is really good. Very different from SoC though, they tried too hard with the faction wars thing, and as a result it's less atmospheric than SoC. Overall, not bad, but not as good as SoC or CoP.
I haven't had any real bugs yet, except for during faction wars, you may find it hard to complete a job before it cancels itself unpredictably. Probably my only serious dislike about the game.

None of that. Clear Sky is great in my opinion, and so are all of the other STALKERS. The reason why people say that it's glitchy is because when it was first released. After the patches it's absolutely fine. But unpatched was my favorite version, aside from the crashes it had some awesome bugs.

First time I faced a poltergeist I thought "another glitch!?"

Then the "bug" was like "le hurl"
Gah, I downloaded COP from GamersGate. I've installed it all, but when I go to run the game it gives me this activation thing where it's asking me to enter my cd key, so I do. Then it tells me it's unable to connect to the activation server so I can't register and play the game D:
Buy it from Steam.
Fuck that, I paid for the game with my money, I should be allowed to play the game.
You don't need the CD-key if you want to play the singleplayer.
