S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Megathread: R.I.P. Kostya Polar Explorer

Well, I'm going to finish my run of LURK 1.0552 before 1.1 comes out. Also, I wish I knew how to make unique guns in SoC, because I've been using the TOZ hunting shotgun for the entire game, and I am now on my way to the Scorcher. I'd call it...the Two-Barreled Death Bringer.
I've never done it... They're at the edge of the zone so I figured they wouldn't give me very much support with faction-discounts/friendly soldiers in comparison to the better factio-ALL GLORY TO THE MONOLITH!!!
That isn't a big drawback for me since they are neutral to a majority of factions. Speaking of Clear Sky, I'm starting to see why people are disappointed in it. It does seem too crowded. I barely have time to explore since there are constant raids.

I was having some skips in CS with only like 65% of my ram used.
Random blowouts will not be present. This is a design choice that I have avidly stood by for ages. They are wrong for too many reasons to articulate and including them optionally is counterproductive to the philosophy I have described in the first few paragraphs. That is all, no discussion. I have them as functional compatible code but refuse to provide any official support for it in L.U.R.K. 1.1. I also will ask you to redirect your attention to previous articles illustrating my issues with random blowouts if you wish for a more elaborate understanding of why I refuse to support them. That is the last bit of discussion I will offer regarding them.
Don't worry, someone who doesn't hate blowouts with the passion of 10,000 suns will use that code to make a blowout plugin for LURK. Someday...
I'm late but:
SMP has almost as much content as people soup, without all the foreign, and more of the RAM
They've also got gosuke fixing the animations up, like the coolcat he is.
[editline]06:26AM[/editline]
oh and they've got features like weapon overheating
yeah let me see that in yo LURK
derp installing lurk on my work computer

weapon overheating sounds awful. Either it will be completely unbalanced (LOL fire 2 bullets, OVERHEAT!) or will only apply to PKMs and other guns that might ACTUALLY OVERHEAT, EVER. Good to know the animations won't be complete ass like 2.4, though.
more like
sustained fire
i don't know much about the matter but yeah
no more spraying for a year straight, you'll destroy your gun

See my first point. Spraying a 30-round mag isn't going to do anything, and if it is it's just as broken as I thought. Not that it matters to me, I'm rollin revolver and crossbow all the way, except for smoke n' vodka breaks.

I'm not a guns fanatic like the ballistics people I work with, but weapon's overheating? I'm pretty sure that type of thing only happens to vulcan miniguns or something that's outputting a ridiculous amount of bullets. I'm glad you don't want people spraying and praying but don't you think placing artificial restrictions is a bit of a poor idea, rather then realistically enforced reasoning behind controlled bursts, like managing recoil?
I mean the worst I've heard happening to a gun with sustained fire is the receiver melting off of the plastic receivers from H&K, and I don't think that fits what you're talking about.
Hey Holden, do guns still have that problem where - when aiming down the sights - the character's view would wobble like he's drunk or something. That was pretty much a deal breaker for me in LURK, it made any sort of accurate aiming almost useless.

1.1 won't have the stamina-based ballistics that the current version has. Which is kinda too bad, since the TOZ is incredibly OP in the current build. Takin' out fools with buckshot at 250 meters, fuck yeah.

I didn't do the ballistics before, I don't know what caused it. It was tied to stamina but for whatever reason it's gone now. There's weapon sway but it's only really perceivable when you're using a scope now. Gun sway and bullet cones really pissed people off before so it's all recoil now. Accurate as shit with bullets that deal heavy damage. Of course this travels both ways.

Yeah, I would go around sniping with a TOZ because the aiming on all the assualt rifles was rubbish.

Thanks, I think I'll really get into LURK this time then.
the guns need to explode after you fire 15 bullets non stop for realism
[editline]09:51AM[/editline]
and the police need to arrest you for littering if you drop something on the ground
[editline]09:52AM[/editline]
and if you drink you wake up in a hospital. i mean who can drink a BOTTLE of vodka and stand
[editline]09:52AM[/editline]
and other minor realism quirks
That reminds me--I saw in the article that there's a new deathcam that stays in 1st person. Can you give details on that? Because I fucking love it when games stay in the 1st person perspective at all times.
The computer will also kill you in the way you got killed in the game. You now have to wear stalker suits while playing the game.

What about whirligigs?
or burners?
oh god operation Play Stalker on Work computer failed. The game is so choppy even on the lowest of settings it's like looking at a PowerPoint presenation.

Deactivates gpu cooling fan
If you get killed by a bandit a penis extends from the computer and rapes you.

I hate Clear Sky. I attempted to take over the Depot from the bandits, but after a 25 minute skirmish I was killed by a grenade that flew through a window smaller than the exhaust port thingy Luke shot through to blow up the Death Star. :argh:

Get the Complete mod, reduces the grenade spam severely. Alternatively, if you don't want to download 300mb, get one of the minimods that just remove grenades from NPCs, should be one on filefront.
