Panzerdraco: Do you think the ballistics system is /too/ complex? Panzerdraco: Like are you having trouble understanding it Holden: I shooted things and they dieded
Since not even Holden understands the ballistics system I made I'll take a minute to explain it. Weapons are now more or less dead on accurate. Pistols less so than rifles understandably, and etcetera. However, you have to manage the recoil yourself with mouse movement. If you've ever played Red Orchestra, you'll understand this system. It makes using weapons automatically only effective in short bursts at close range, and at longer range you'll definitely want to be resorting to single, carefully placed shots. The recoil system also gives added consideration to weapons in smaller calibers due to controllability. Ammo is now the dictator of weapon damage. A round will deal a base damage, and then the weapon using it will add or subtract a multiplier from that base. This makes damage across all weapons more consistent but also giving variety. Some entirely new calibers are being introduced, such as .40 Smith & Wesson, .357 SIG, .357 and .44 Magnum, and you will find appropriate weapons chambered in these new calibers. All calibers have four different ammunition types: Standard, Hollowpoint, Armour-Piercing, and Incendiary/Hydrashok. Standard is decent for everything, Hollowpoint deals better damaged against unarmoured or lightly armoured targets like mutants, Armour-piercing is the opposite of Hollowpoint, and Incendiary/Hydrashok is highly effective against most everything, but you'll only find it in the occaisional stash. Shotguns are far more accurate, especially hunting shotguns like the TOZ-34. You won't be able to snipe people, but putting a dead on blast into a lightly armoured target at 30-40 metres will be an instant kill, especially if you aim for the center mass so less pellets hit the arms and more go into the torso. If you're a good shot you can make the TOZ-34 last for a long time. All weapons have four main statistics: Ballistics (damage and velocity multipliers), Accuracy (self-explanatory), Handling (recoil multiplier), and Reliability (how fast it degrades and how often it jams). As said before, ammo types dictate most of the statistics, and weapons just multiply these stats. Weapons will behave more or less as you'd expect them to along these stats, kalashnikovs are inaccurate and hard to control but will last a lifetime, whereas ArmaLite rifles are more or less the opposite.
Why would the AK's be inaccurate? Its not like its a Converted starter gun. (The ones at tracks, without grooves and shit in the barrel) All weapons are generally within reason, if you can aim at it cleanly you can hit it. I've no idea as to why people make guns have a cone effect in some senses. Or am I thinking of this wrong in the sense of what you mean by it? [editline]02:43PM[/editline] Plus the Russian Army still use the AK as its main weapon. Its Accurate. They are dirt cheap, but reliable as FUCK!

I mean, when I walked and shoot, the bullets went scatered ALL OVER THE PLACE, some of them physicly impossible. Also, when you walk and shot, bullets don't scatter like that, u mad? The iron sights are near the barrel of thegun, thus making them hard to aim, but they are in NO WAY inacurate!
Exactly. So I'm not entirely sure as to why they would make the AK as it sounds, which would general push us towards Nato/west Weapons, and if you are like me, I only use Eastern block weapons in stalker. :O
It is, actually, rather inaccurate by assault rifle standards, but those standards mean that you'd only notice the accuracy difference between an AK and an AR at ranges over 300 metres. This effect is somewhat amplified in LURK 1.1 since you'll almost never have engagements over 150 metres, but the AK definitely won't be spraying bullets everywhere like a woman's urination. Walking and shooting from the hip though is a different story.

Aside from that, LURK is awesome, but LURK + AMK features, would make a very good mod!
Alright, my current assessment of L.U.R.K., pointing out the negative or what I don't see. - No AMK/freeplay features. Seriously, of all the mods, this one doesn't have a well done freeplay system that unlocks A-Life and allows the progression of NPCs? Additionally, the really awesome AMK event queue system is not there. (The notifications from other stalkers in the zone via PDA about whats going on, attacks, death, mutants, locations, etc.) - ZRP+Teleport/Level Select - Complete 2009 got this right without question, for those who want to just skip straight to a specific part in the game, this feature allowed them to. They could even skip straight to freeplay and have fun. You could leave out the latter but for come on, you've done things in this mod so much better than others, it would only serve the game right to see a freeroam extension so I could keep enjoying L.U.R.K rather than seeing a credits screen.
AMK News was in general, just a few spawns with some Infoportions and Print fucntions, and 50% of the news was fake, as stated by Kany and Bac, the people who helped create it, before Kany went and destroyed AMK by making OL ontop of it. I totally agree about the ZRP part though. :D
The freeplay bugged me too, and the teleport was really nice after playing Complete 2009 for ages. I liked the esc + S saving too.
I don't see waht's so special about Complete' esc+S save. Also: a comic related to my post from page 3. Right click -> view image You can preety much assume who is who by seeing their behaviour and speech colors. :v:
Team Rocket Reference Ftw.
It's also related to the car pysics when it hits a gravitational anomaly in CSC.
I don't see waht's so special about Complete' esc+S save.
It names the saves with the level and the time of saving, thus creating multiple saves instead of one quicksave which will overwrite and eventually fuck you up big time.
It names the saves with the level and the time of saving, thus creating multiple saves instead of one quicksave which will overwrite and eventually fuck you up big time.
I see. Well, I never really had a problem and I hate huge amounts of saves stacked up, so I go with quicksaving straight away.
On clear sky complete, why the hell would you want to carry an oil drum around with you? :V
One word. "Bang!"
But it's REALLY heavy...
I remember people asking if there was a merge of my Faction wars with Ol 2.2 well I saw this. http://stalker.filefront.com/file/Faction_Wars_for_Oblivion_Lost_22;114431 I've NO IDEA how well it works, just passing it on.
What the hell am I looking at here? Is it seriously faction wars in SoC? [editline]10:33AM[/editline] LURK 1.1 yet fellow stalkers?
I created a mod a long time ago called Faction wars. It just essentially, let any NPC, from any faction fight for any place. Aside from rookie camp. You get Monolith in Cordon, Zombified in Cordon, You get Freedom and Duty everywhere etc, it works for Mutants also, but a bit less. Anyway, people always wanted a OL 2.2 Merge, I never made one personally, but there were a few out but never complete merges. Seems this is, I've not used it though. So no idea on how well it works.
Yeah I know about faction wars but wasn't it for CS?
Yeah I know about faction wars but wasn't it for CS?
That's a bit diffrent faction wars, you know.
This is the story of boryan spy: the man himself. This man is one of the greatest heroes in stalker history, he saved me twice from snorks and a bloodsucker, I owe this man my life. Then I set course to pripyat, on my return to Jupiter I found Boryan sitting near a bush east of Yanov station. Then an Emission started coming, I could feel it in my bones. Then a few moments later the speakers at yanov broadcasted that there was an emission coming. "I knew it" I said, I talked to Boryan that we needed to get to Yanov but he sat still and said "The zone did so much for me, it is time for me to give it back". My soul shattered when I left him behind. When the emission was over I went to look for Boryan where I left him, sadly he passed. ...Am I the only one here who still hasn't gotten CoP?
Dissasemble the guns temselves... you can modify them, for instance, the scar can replace the barrel/firing mechanism so it can accept other caliber. Night Vision Scopes, Drum barrels instead of normal mags, SMP is going to be amazing, I mean, even more amazing...
That sounds cool and all but last time I played SMP it was a fucking clustefuck of useless mods that only eat your RAM.
That's a bit diffrent faction wars, you know.
Oh wait Faction Warfare is for CS. Ignore me I'm :downs:
...Am I the only one here who still hasn't gotten CoP?
Yes.
That sounds cool and all but last time I played SMP it was a fucking clustefuck of useless mods that only eat your RAM.
those "useless" mods of yours are what make it Super MOD PACK
Falcon, why are you hanging out with bandits?!
Falcon, why are you hanging out with bandits?!
cos I be neutral. [editline]08:18PM[/editline] And they have the coolest names.
1. turn down texture settings 2. defragment hard drive 3. Buy more RAM 4. If you already have a lot of RAM, look in the OP for Kingo's modified .exes that increase memory usage by the game.
I have 4gb of ram, and tried everything else you said, when I put the .exe in the game folder, when I started it it said it couldn't find xrsound.dll.
