I bought GTA4 Limited Edition before I even had an Xbox :3 I played it ALL THE TIME, and a new GTA would make me cry because I STILL haven't been on every street in that game... :C

All I can imagine Gilbert doing for voices in GTA is one of the radio station DJs, I don't know about main character though...

Maybe you get to see him on TV or etc.

...If by lead you mean the main character I'm disappointed. I really dislike hearing his voice in anything more then a small amount.
