I tried to play CS:S for 2 months, and it's still shit. I generally end up in the top 5 on a full server, and I find it still shit. Like you said before, 80% is going "niggernigger lolumad"/"lolol sparta XD u shot him in teh hole XD" and the other 20% doesn't say anything and immediately headshots you when you show your arm for 1 second.
if you're not playing with people you like you're going to have a shitty time
that's common sense
CS 1.5 was AWESOME
CS 1.6 is meh
CSS is pretty much what OP said
I hate it because I suck at it.
I can never get a kill in because of the people who have been playing since the dark ages.
It's a great game for short sessions
This to be honest, i don't play it hardcore, just when im bored i pop on it for like 1/2 to hour.
It's pretty fun to mess around in, and not play serious. Too bad 90% of the community sucks.
wow OP do you realize everyone hates CS or are you :downs:
in fact, i misread the topic title as "Why does everyone hate CS?" because i can't believe anybody would be dumb enough to ask why everyone likes it.
I guess it's because of the mods. Like I love superhero mod because it adds some variety.
Sorry, but it doesn't make ANY sense. The game is boring, repetitive, simple, repetitive, no team play, shitty graphics, shitty sounds, shitty gameplay and it's repetitive too. So... What's the big deal?
Oh yeah, rate me "frowny faces" all you want, I really don't give a crap.
so is tf2
but people still play that
Thanks to CS:S, I crouch in every game when taking a shot that's more than short range. It's practically programmed in.
I like CSS because it's fun and has lots of mods and skins. Back when it game out the graphics and sounds were the shit so I don't see why they should be good after all this time.
It's fun for like the first round...Then it gets boring fast. Plus you die in like 2 seconds. Can you say "GENERIC SHOOTER"!?
I hate it because I suck at it.

This.
I tried to play it last night but kept getting headshotted from AK-47's on the other side of the map. There was even a guy that headshotted me with the pump shotgun from the other end of the long hallway in Office. And the guy that took fire from 3 of us at once and lived to kill each of us, he wasn't even in any sort of cover. Oh and the guy that headshotted me in one shot with his P90 (how the fuck?).
My k/d was 1/2. I got frustrated and left.
I still kinda like CS 1.6 and CSS. Mainly because I pwn everyone so much that they yell about "h4x" and "wallh4ckz".
competetive CSS is in the top tier of pro gaming. The game takes skill.
I gotta admit; CS:S doesn't have the best community, but that doesn't mean everyone that plays CS:S is a 14y/o Nazi-worshiping micspammer. The trick is finding one good server with a friendly bunch of players, and then playing on it frequently.
You can make a good amount of friends on CS:S this way. Just load up CS:S, join a 18man server with Assault/dust (no 32man shit, hard to make friends in a 32 man where it's a giant cluster-fuck of awps), grab a few beers, hold down K and just chat with the regulars.
You'll forget about getting killed/being shit and just start having fun talking to people. The more friendly you are with them, the more they'll help you out, and the more you'll play and get better.
Soon they might add you to their friendslist or vice versa, then they'll ask you to play with them, then they might join your games just to play with you.
It worked 2 years ago for me, it will work for you now. Nowdays I'm more into TF2, but I still play CS:S from time to time just to fuck around with my friends and just have fun (harder to do on TF2, when you get people yelling at you to help out your team/stop wasting a spot on x team and play etc). You don't get that on CS:S, which might sound bad, but it makes for a slightly more relaxed enviroment with friends so you can actually have fun with them without worrying about talking over some guy trying to organise an uber-rush.
So why do I love CS:S? It's fun. You can hop on for 10 minutes, fuck around with friends, gets some kills and then bugger off to do something else. No commitment, no "oh man I'm probably missing out on good times with my friends", and no hugely massive learning curve. Just shoot, talk, and laugh.
Gaming 101.
TL;DR: Play the game and play with friends, and only play in short blocks. More fun for everyone.
I rarely play it anymore, but when i was younger (like CS 1.1 i think) it totally ruined my sleep & grades as i was playing CS every night till early morning, resulting in me sleeping over my desk the first few lessions.
Now i think its boring.. I usually just take a benelli and jump around.. The sound sucks apparently valve thinks that a silenced pistol has to sound like a lasergun :-|
Nowadays, I only play CS:S as a knife-wielding ninja ambush terrorist on Office.
There are few things more satisfying than murdering an enemy holding a gun that can remove your head in a second with the hardest to use weapon in the game.
Spies have it easy, they get disguises and cloak and shit, all I can do is sit behind a pot plant and pray they don't notice me as they storm past.
It's a rare thrill. :black101:
You could say the same about L4D it get's just as repetitive but even less to do..
A ton of communities are awful.
Like Warcraft community for one.
The community is what that killed it.
Yeah, the community of tens of thousands of players killed it
Nice one

And CS is a good game because it's fun. Repititive? Dozens of gamemodes and thousands of maps. Go. I usually only play vanilla though, still fun after two years of dail play.
Shit graphics? Get a better card I guess, they look fine to me (especially for a game of its age (OMG OLD GRPAHICS NUB GAEM GIEF CRYSIS)).
No teamplay? Get above public.

Try practising on texture servers, it's usually noobskillers you get on there. Also the 1shotting someone isn't difficult with any gun, it's something you learn to do after a few days play.
competetive CSS is in the top tier of pro gaming. The game takes skill.
This, none of the other games I own gives me a rush quite like playing competitively in CSS. Try it.
People love it because it is fun to them.
Just because you think it sucks doesn't mean everyone else should.
I don't much care for hyper realistic shooters.
Thats my case against it but thats entirely subjective and by no means a reason as to why it sucks.
omg why dont ppl like the same gaems i do!!!!!! every1 shud hav my opinons :colbert:
I play it, I utterly suck at it, but I play it :)
The players who get headshot whe you pop out of cover for half a second are annoying as hell though :@
Zombie mod on a 50 player server is fun.
Not everyone loves CS...
Zombie mod on a 50 player server is fun.
Escape is even more fun unless most of your team can't do a single thing right.
imo, I don't see how you can get bored of CS:S.
There's tons of mods and tons of custom maps.
And you can always fuck around with your friends/troll servers.
Cs:s/1.6 are REALLY fun games to play at lan partys with friends.
