The community has a good 3 years left.
The 1.6 community is still quite alive.
I like it because it gets my heart beating, my palms sweaty, and it's just like BOOM HEADSHOT. Don't you love that feeling when you get a Headshot?
Only in Call of duty 4, when I hear the distinctive "Ting" sound when I get a headshot.
I still play and enjoy 1.6. I've played CS since I was a kid, back when it came on a CD and worked with WON. Maybe it's for the nostalgia, who knows. 1.6 is morbidly harder than CS:S is, though, so its harder to pick up for new players. I can understand why new comers would not like 1.6, its something you had to grow up with to like. My brothers and I would stay up till the late hours of the evening, just playing 1.6. It was awesome. I really dislike people that prefer CS:S over 1.6 due to the upgraded graphics. fucking load up 1.6 and do a tactical shield rush on de_rats and tell me that isn't fun.
Don't forget the physics engine.
I just prefer the geometry of everything. It looks very blocky in 1.6, I just prefer CSS. Please don't shoot me...
I just prefer the geometry of everything. It looks very blocky in 1.6, I just prefer CSS. Please don't shoot me...
It's GoldSrc. You know, the engine that was released in 1998. You're comparing it to a game with an engine first created in 2004. Besides, 1.6 is almost completely different. Source ruined just about every aspect of the original game.
I play CSS rarely, and the only time I played without bots was on a pointless Zombie server. Not many people on FP like it, it's boring as hell. Though the 3-year-old micspammers seem to like it...
The communtiy is dying and will be dead fairly soon if Valve doesn't release a new game. The problem is that the only people still playing are the ones who take it seriously, and they're pretty much the biggest fuckers on the internet.
Only in Call of duty 4, when I hear the distinctive "Ting" sound when I get a headshot.
Frown faced for not getting the FPS Doug reference, who plays CSS and not CoD.
I like CSS. The original gameplay is no-bullshit simple fun and there's lots of custom gamestyles like surf, gungame, DM, RPG, WCS etc.
Frown faced for not getting the FPS Doug reference, who plays CSS and not CoD.
fps_doug sucks. [editline]06:22PM[/editline] And it's CS:S not CSS, I don't think we're talking about cascading style sheets.

And every day new content (New surf maps, Zombie maps) released from the community.

I lol'd.
Because of competitive play. Don't knock CSS unless you've played competitivley
It would be fun if you didn't have to wait until one team dies..
When I first heard of CSS from a friend, I thought he said "Counter-Strike: Saurus." So there on out until I got the game, I thought it was a dinosaur fighting game.
I prefer Condition Zero over CS:S over CS 1.6
The community is utter, utter shit. I used to be god-like at CSS (I swear I am not bullshitting), and people used to swear at me for being so good.
CS was great when it first came out. I was fucking pro at it, but like any game it lost its appeal to me. And i stopped playing it. It is just a fun frag game, that is about it. It isn't a bad game. Lots of custom skins, maps, ect.
CSS is good for the whole pick up and play simple gameplay. Anyone can jump in a game and after a bit they have a decent chance of been good. It can be as complex as you make it.
It would be fun if you didn't have to wait until one team dies..
Honestly, I think that makes it better. Yeah sometimes it sucks having to wait, but if you're still in the game it's much more fun. Especially on small gun game maps, it'd be really easy to have someone spawn right behind you. Or other way around, you spawn in front of someone and get mowed down. That's not much fun either way. I've played Deathmatch Gun Game, it really isn't that much fun. There are no tactics involved at all, its just spawn, w + click, because you have a good chance of having someone right in front of you as you spawn. It's also just more fun when there aren't 30 people running around spraying bullets everywhere. That's why TF2 has those spawn rooms.
cocksuckin? i don't know man just feels good
as much as people would like to think it's tactical, cs:s always felt like m4a1+deagle+w+mouse1
When I first heard of CSS from a friend, I thought he said "Counter-Strike: Saurus." So there on out until I got the game, I thought it was a dinosaur fighting game.
This needs to be a mod.

I don't love it.
