Perhaps instead of saying Counter-Strike is realistic, we should say it's [i]more[/i] realistic (than other games), because, you've gotta admit it is realistic compared to games like TF2 or L4D.
Counterstrike is fun. ONCE in a while.
But the people who just rave about it and play it for 6+ hours straight when they get home are the people who need theraphy.
It's highly overated. But not as overated as Halo.
i like day of defeat: source, but that's because its world war 2, i will never buy counter strike because it's that boring to me.
I'd say its pretty fun. Plenty of skins to keep the game look different, the huge variety of maps ( CS, DE, Rats, etc), and fun gamemodes ( Bomb defuse, Hostages, Zombie survival, Gun Games). Another reason its good, is that the engine its running on can be ran perfect on older comps but some comps ( Like mine) lag really bad on some maps like De_dust, CS_office, and some zombie maps. If it ever updates to the OB engine, oh god I am going to hate Valve. I don't want to be stuck with HL2 DM and HL:S DM [img]http://d2k5.com/sa_emots/emot-argh.gif[/img]
Counter-strike source should be updated to the newest Source engine (better graphics options eg. the fire effects, better scoreboard supporting Steam Community avatars, achievements, etc.) , like Day of Defeat source was.
Maybe release it again? Make it a free download to anyone with CS:S and any one else that buys it gets the new engine?
Its a simple with minimal requirements which enable its playable for a large quantity of people giving it a huge community for the games mods, and lots of clan support for those who feel that they want a challenge, its quick to pick up, but takes ages to master that is what draws people into it
Zombie mod and the GMod content saved it for me, otherwise I would've given it to someone else a LONG time ago.
Because it allows them to live a life they will never have.
I for one, hate the game, and just have it for Gmod content.
It's fun with friends. I usually end up getting a good laugh when playing with them. :v:

If anything, I do like the new scoreboard. Like when you kill someone it highlights your name in the upper right corner. I don't know why CSS doesn't have Steam avatars, even CS 1.6 has it. I can live without the rest. Achievements would be cool though. :v:

There is actually a mod being done to do this, look on ModDB, under HL2, it should be one of the most popular ones right now. Not much has been done, but it dose look a little prettier.

makes it a new game rite, call it CS:S 2 and sell it for $50.
The base gamemode is a little dull after a while, though alternative maps and gamemodes can be quite entertaining.

I play CS:S on my desktop, and when I am out and about on my netbook, I fire up 1.6 for some time wasting.
Everyone is better at CS 1.6, I can't kill half the people who play.
Yet in source, I dominate. I don't know if it's where I'm used to source or what.

I would give up on Valve at that point, Hl2:DM is boring and no one plays HLS:DM, this is the only mulitplayer game I have that is fun. Please, just never, ever let this game get updates to the OB engine
The guns are actually quite different between the two.
When I do play it, it's for surfing. I can't stand playing it for the real gametypes, everyone is ass good at it, and huge assholes about it.

there are less twelve year olds that pub in 1.6, horrible kids prefer to pub in source

It's because 1.6 is harder.
Source is the best as it's an epic FPS with such a variety of maps and players
I think Source is great. Competitive play is like nothing I've ever played in FPS, it's such a rush.
TF2 is great in comp. too.
