This thread has gone from a simple question to a bitching fest. Get over it, everyone has their own opinion, so stop trying to convince each others that 1.6 is better than CSS or that Modded servers are better than Vanilla. It's off topic and it makes no god damn sense to fight about it.
Now, I think Counter Strike can be fun with the right people, but sadly most servers consist of immature players. That is my opinion.
We love CS because of the HAXORZ
CS:S is like a gateway game for consolefags. I don't like it though. It gives you mixed messages and no matter how much you try to get stuff right you'll inevitably screw it up in the most epic way ever. because you didn't look around the corner for one second. but I guess that makes me a noob.
The reason is because of its simplicaty and flexible engine modders find it easy to make mods for and the sheer simplicaty and balance is the reason everyone still plays on normal servers.
Gun game is fun, and sometimes lanning with bros drunk is fun too
Tbh it's not that repetitive. Since it's one of the biggest modded games out there there's a ton of gamemodes. Zombie mod, Zombie escape, Zombie riot, gun-game, minigame, cs, de, deathrun, surf, deathmatch, c'mon, that's quite a lot in my opinion. Sure it does get boring after a while, but be honest, every game does. Don't just hate on CS cause it's got less features than other games.

This and Zombie Escape
CS is 90% luck 1% skill.
It also makes that much sense.
Because the game is one of the best with the "easy to pick up, hard to master" mechanic.
Custom maps can make Css pretty fun.
I usually play with bots so I don't have to listen to mic spammers.
Atleast it's better than Call of Duty Blops. :colbert:
Way to bump a thread from 2009
Because it isn't "OMG REALISM" like Call of Duty. It's just "point and shoot"
People like CS because it's fun and kinky. :q:
Oh, you mean Counter-Strike... :v:
Don't get mad at me or anything, but it seems like (almost) every gamer whose main game is TF2 hates CS:S.

Even though CoD is as realistic as an Hollywood movie.
I like it because it's plain and simple.
And there aren't incredible overpowered weapons (Minus the AWP, but I tend to frequent servers that ban it) that can turn a new player into an amazing skillful dick. Usually, most of the really good players are actually skilled.
I enjoy CS:S gungame, surf and breakfloor maps, although a standard match on a stock map can be quite fun too.
It takes skill, speed, reflex. And abusing the crap out of hitboxes for amazing 1 deags :P

There's an obvious difference in appeal. The only thing I can say about it is that at least I can return to CS:S after a year to just play and have fun. I haven't played TF2 for four months now. I'm scared to go back.
It's a total rip off of MW2.

What. No, get out.

I play both games. Whenever I get bored of TF2, I go to CS:S, vice versa. Then I also have Gmod on the list, and L4D2.
Thing is, I mainly own games from Valve. I don't own much that's not from them.

Whats the other 9%?
And that's such a shit observation. Hurrdurr I get headshot cause I shoot randomly into space.
The mods are why I play.

There are a lot of severely underpowered weapons though (in CSS at least)
Back when it was first release it was pretty fun. The game itself was fine, the community was large enough so you always found good company. After a few years of shitty updates and game changes and shrinking community which was left full of assholes I stopped playing.
Best to leave it be on a good note then remember it badly. I had a lot of good times with my mates playing online with them.
Why more games don't try to pick up on it's apparently everlasting game mechanics is beyond me. All modern shooters are a finish-and-put-down.

You must be married to MW2 in that case

They are fun to get a kill with, though. Particularly SMGs and non-Duals/Deagle pistols.
Because I pwn noob ass and my skill is unmatched.
