Play on 1.8 if the ice really bothers you, as for the slimes, well, you could use something like single player commands i guess.
I love this map so far. I made my house near the shore and trapped a sheep in my house. I was chopping down some trees and i noticed some roses in a weird pattern. I dug down where the middle rose was and i found this chest full of goods, nice little surprise. Oh you sneaky bastard, [sp] I climbed to the top of the mountain and found iron blocks. So i start digging down, collecting a long line of iron and i get a very bad feeling. I dig one block over and break another piece of iron and bam, i would've fell to my death if i was on that block. Sneaky, i love it. [/sp]
Huh, I did notice that rose pattern too but didn't think too much of it.
I wish i could find some vines.

I climbed the mountain as my first act.
Braved the night. Killed a few zombies, took down an Enderman, startled another who disappeared after the sun went up.
Died. Ragequite because it spawned me on the fucking shipwreck again. I even had a cobblestone house.

Heh, found another secret. Would've killed me if I had mined straight down (no it isn't the same iron secret).
Built my first house on top of the tallest mountain, now I have a ladder leading down into the interior and a long, winding staircase down the side. Still haven't found enough iron to make a pick after I used some for shears and a bucket.

Just walk around the islands shore, and look in the stone things on the beach. Ive found at least 16 iron.
Kinda reminds me of From Dust, the "Repel water" thing.
I started and went the opposite way of the island for some reason my fog is turned down all the way and i cant adjust it cause my options don't work soooooo...................... WOOP

Try adding some supports to the bottom of the balcony. Also, Try to get rid of the lava under that stone if you're gonna build there.
