Deus Ex Megathread V4 - Stick to making rule 34 and shitposting and stop trying to do my job.

No-kills is SO friggin hard to pull off! It's not like Skyrim where you max your sneak and it's like you were never there. You have so many variables you need to consider before you go after anyone.
Found a epub file with all the books from the game.
Its reading time!
Just finished Missing Link. A little disappointed with the end fight. [sp]I threw a concussion grenade into Burke's little room before I fell through the hole in the ceiling and snapped his neck.[/sp]
I don't know why I tricked myself into thinking it was a short game. Seeing the pics in the OP made me remember exactly how many hours I spent playing this game. It was great.

Well, better than the other unnecessary long boss fights

Yeah, when I think back it feels like it was short. But then I went back and played it and I saw how wrong I was.

Also yeah pacifist breaks if ANYONE dies near you, the game automatically blames you. But then, did you find the body? Why didn't you call an ambulance, or the police? Did anyone else see him die? Can I take your fingerprints, please?
Not true at all
I dropped someone off a bridge, still got pacifist
[editline]31st January 2012[/editline]
Most of it was in the book, I think.
I need to get that book.
Yeah, one of my major dissapointments of the game, considering the trailers hinted at a lot of character development, and the book showed a lot of depth and development that went into these characters. But the game literally had 0% focus on it, despite Jensen being on a similar man-hunt to the characters in the book.
I was going for a Pacifist Run on Give Me Deus Ex difficulty, to kill two birds with one stone.
Then by the time I reached Highland Park, I learned you can't kill during the Prologue.

I'm trying to figure out just how lenient the alarms are. Was getting through the factory without alarms set off - until suddenly I see one active on the side of my hud due to the SWAT raiding near the end.

We were boasting about that in the previous thread. Add the Give Me Deus Ex difficulty to that too.
I've been playing this game for the first time, fun stuff. I've been going for a mainly nonlethal approach, but I still kill dudes once in a while.
Right now I'm in Detroit, I finished the two sidequests (the neuropyzine guy and the mother's love) and am working on busting the dirty cop. I like how it's really open-ended and allows for exploring without feeling too big. I also like how more augmentations (especially hacking and heavy lifting) open up new areas. The Icarus system is also really useful.
Incidentally, anybody know where I can pick up a revolver? I've got almost every weapon (raided the armory) but can't find a revolver anywhere.

That's why I'm doing the GMDE run and the pacifist run seperately. I may not be pushing the limit so much as everyone else, but I'm functional like that.
Also, I run the game on medium settings. There is almost no stuttering/glitches (apart from the very occasional loss of lip-sync) in the game or in the cutscenes. However, the tutorials are pretty hard to watch because the audio consistently stutters. Every second, there's a brief pause. It ends up sounding like "Some ar[SUP].[/SUP]eas are on[SUP].[/SUP]ly access[SUP].[/SUP]ible by hacki[SUP].[/SUP]ng". I just have to open up YouTube in the Steam overlay and watch videos there.

Check the apartments I think. Seurat* might have one for sale too.
Check the apartments I think. Seruit might have one for sale too.
Is Seruit the guy in the apartment by the MCB or in the gas station?

If you do it in that quest in Heng Sha, it counts against the achievement.
Is Seruit the guy in the apartment by the MCB or in the gas station?
He's the guy in the apartment. If you saved Greg & Josie at the factory, speak to them first for a discount.
I can't be 100% certain he sells one, but he does stock higher-grade weapons than Grayson.

That's what I meant, just that hard is shorter to type :v:
If you do it in that quest in Heng Sha, it counts against the achievement.
Letting that one guy OD on morphine also counts as killing someone, even though it's a mercy killing.
Warren Spector getting Lifetime Achievement award at GDCAs
Thirty-year industry veteran noted for Deus Ex and Epic Mickey to be honored at next month's awards show in San Francisco.
Next month at the 2012 Game Developers Choice Awards, Deus Ex and Epic Mickey designer Warren Spector will leave with a piece of hardware only 11 others have ever received. GDCA event organizers today announced that Spector will be the recipient of the group's Lifetime Achievement award.
The award, which was given to Lionhead Studios leader Peter Molyneux last year, "recognizes the career and achievements of a developer who has made an indelible impact on the craft of game development and games as a whole," according to event organizers.
Previous winners include Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, Metal Gear Solid designer Hideo Kojima, and Civilization studio head Sid Meier.
Presently the founder of Austin, Texas-based Junction Point Studios, Spector has been in the game business for 30 years. Arguably his most famous work was 2000's original Deus Ex, which he served as producer on at Ion Studios.
Spector left Ion Studios in 2004 and formed Junction Point Studios. Disney Interactive Studios acquired the company in 2007, and the shop put out Epic Mickey in 2010 to mixed reviews.
Spector will accept his award in person at the 12th annual GDCA ceremony on Wednesday, March 7, as part of the 2012 Game Developers Conference. GameSpot will stream video of the event live.
About damn time. Hope to see him doing some proper games soon.
Decided I should play this again since it was awesome.
Finished the murder everything run.
Lessons learned:
There's lots of ammo to be found when you kill everybody.
It's hilarious to kill Sarif, Darrows, and every other story character.
Panchea's zombie denizens take a lot more bullets than their non-zombie counterparts.
The pistol is ludicrously powerful.
The shotgun is worthless.
