While I have a DX11 card (GTX 570), I honestly am not gonna let that ruin my excitement for today. I have a friend who just tried it at home on his PC on extreme and says everything looks amazing so far after 1 hour of gameplay.
Most games don't even support DX11 yet.. and those that do, they don't make or break a game. Play for yourself, read some PC reviews and then decide.

Found this on crymod, not exactly sure what this is, but I guess it's the list of available commands.
Some interesting ones:
[release]r_UsePOM (parallax occlusion mapping)
r_ShadersDX11
r_NightVision (correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that there is no "normal" NV in the game)
e_SplitScreenTest (wat)[/release]
oh and I'm sure that Crytek will release the sandbox after EA gives permission for it (= after the last DLC)
I just checked the online shop where I preordered Crysis 2 and it was written it's already sent. So the courier will be most likely tomorrow.
Anyone waiting on the game to patch still? The update keeps on cutting out. The highest I got was 24% so far.
And apparently you can't load the Crysis 2 .pak files to the Crysis 1 editor.
At least I couldn't.
I dont think perks/attachments collect kills right now..
Lean/cover system is awesome. When you get close to a corner or ledge, you just hold the mouse2 button to activate the lean mode. Then move the mouse around to freely go into a lean or out. It's very nice, reminds me of Rainbow Six.
Playing on max difficulty and exploring. Gonna try taking some 3D crosseye screenshots on max settings.
So, just ran the game for the first time and played about 30min of it.
-Dev console is working. I was mighty afraid it was going to be removed like it was in the demo.
-All of the consolized crap I hated about the game (fov, gun in your face, etc) I've fixed with a few cvar tweaks in an autoexec.cfg.
-Graphics are gorgeous and the game runs very well on my GTX 480 @ 1920x1200.
-The game seems to retain a lot of the quirky things that made Crysis 1 so fun, namely picking up and throwing just about everything you can find. I killed the first two CELL that you encounter with a fucking park bench.
All in all the game doesn't seem nearly as dumbed down and consolized as I was afraid it was going to be. I can breathe a sigh of relief now and enjoy the game.
How do you enable the dev console? I've tried adding -devmode to the shortcut properties but that didn't seem to do anything.
edit:
Never mind, somehow fixed itself.
I'm probably going to play on the max difficulty, die 17 times in the first firefight and then lower it to Piss-Easy.
And they will probably release an SDK for black ops that lets you make custom maps. Don't worry.
I'm pretty sure Crysis 1's promised 'Ultra High' mode will be out soon, too!

No DX10 either. A 2006-2007 game is more technologically advanced than a 2011 game. This is a sad day indeed.
No offense, but you're acting pretty much like a dumbass.
They are already releasing a full stand alone SDK for CE3 in the summer, and are known to always release modding tools with their games. Infinity Ward/Acitivision however, have never EVER released modding tools for their games. And Crysis War's editor didn't come out with it on release day either. Do you honestly believe they will never release an editor with Crysis 2?
And funny you mention DX10 making it less technologically advanced. Guess what - DX10 in Crysis 1 did absolutely nothing. Only thing it did was make your framerate worse, show a little "DX10" on the devmode info, and made it so per-object motion blur was less buggy looking. Every single DX10 visual option in Crysis 1 was able to be forced to run in DX9, at a better FPS too. DX10 in Crysis 1 was nothing more than a marketing gimmick, which is why they removed it's limitations from Warhead. Sure you could still force warhead to run DX10 but like in Crysis 1, it didn't really do anything.
I hope Crytek doesn't me down with this summer SDK business. I'm was really looking forward to getting a taste of it with the Crysis 2 sandbox but it looks like we don't get the chance :saddowns:
Also 60 bucks, what? Oh nevermind, it's EA.
Anyone know how to take screenshots? The old commands don't work.
ITT: No DX11 no editor waaah console port waaah
Game looks great regardless, still fun as hell, and an editor & mod SDK is practically guaranteed.
While I don't own the game (I don't really have $60 to blow away..) I'll be sure to get it sometime, the bit of it that I have played (demo and leak) seems worth buying.

Try starting the game with +con_restricted 0, just for shits and giggles.
Crytek said they'd be releasing the full CryEngine 3 SDK (like the Unreal Dev Kit) in the summer.

THAT'S what I'm waiting for. :v:
Anyone else unable to connect to Gamespy?
Okay, I may be late, but I cant launch the game. Every time I try, I get this:

Playing on max difficulty, damn the AI is good. Better not be caught without stealth without also knowing where everyone is because they have a damn good vision radius.
Maxing the game out on a 460GTX OC'd a little, flawless framerates.
-DX does nothing rant-
I'm truly sorry that you appear to be completely fucking blind, but I can assure you DX9/10 makes a difference.

Notice the difference in the lighting effects, and the water. If that is not enough for your deteriorating corneas to detect, allow me to show a clear example of the sort of difference DX9/10 made in Crysis.

WTF -- I am so confused. What are other PC gaming sites basing their reviews on then?

It's just the difference between high and very high settings :colbert:

It already is. Old commands don't work. Old hotkey does nothing either. How did people take screens in the leak? Did they use FRAPS?
Is that DX9 with tweaks, or is it just on high settings?

Lol guess what.
I can do the same exact shit using DX9 simply by forcing color grading, POM, etc in the console under DX9. By default it doesn't let you do that stuff unless you are in DX10, but that was discovered to be a hoax, as you can enable all the DX10 effects in DX9 no problem and have better FPS. Which is why in Warhead, they removed that restriction.
I've fucking developed levels for a Crysis 1 mod working with coders, I know what I am talking about.

Crytek made it so you couldn't use the highest settings in Crysis 1 without a DX10 card. Modders changed some files (they pretty much just wrote "yes" instead of "no" in most cases) and they could use all the features of DX10 in DX9.
You are stupid a misinformed.
Also the AI (at least on hardest) is no longer completely blind to you close up, so you have to be careful. I've noticed that I've often been detected because I've gone up to someone cloaked from behind while they were already in a cautious state (they can hear you). Me staying cloaked while 10m or so from an enemy also gets them cautious and eventually opens fire. So it's very much less the "I win" button it was in Crysis 1, where being cloaked meant they could never see you at all even right in front (unless you bumped into them).
Confirmed that you can use ALL "DX10 features" in DX9 Crysis 1. I played around with settings for weeks. The GOD rays were the most noticeable change.. all available via tweaks in DX9.

e_screenshot worked fine in the leak..
Not sure why none of the supposed Crysis 2 console commands work.
All commands just say "command not found" or something to that effect. How are people getting console commands to work in-game? I have +con_restricted 0 activated in the command line shortcut.
[editline]22nd March 2011[/editline]
Hmm looked around on mycrysis, it appears in-game console commands were completely removed from the build. Autoexec stuff still works but the game simply doesn't recognize commands in-game anymore, making screenshot captures without FRAPS impossible.
The console is still there though, oddly enough. I hope it's just a bug.
