My steam version of crysis2 wont launch, saying the game is unavailable, also when i try to right click on the crysis2.exe, windows explorer crashes.
Hmmm... I reinstalled the game and now I'm getting minor graphical glitches. Like my HUD is really washed out and there is blurry text behind it each section of the HUD, enemy/friendly AI don't have muzzle flashes when they fire, and instead of water slightly coming down the visor when under a stream, it's really big, blurry, and obscure.
I tried changing graphic settings but no dice.
What the hell is going on. No spoilers please.
Well, Alcatraz doesn't know how to turn the visor off and...
I don't get the story..
Those other people want to kill Prophet in the beginning because he's infected but you aren't even prophet..
Why don't you just say you're not freakin' Prophet?..
And why does Prophet need you in the suit? Last hope blah blah but aren't other nanosuit users fighting the aliens too? The ones that are attacking you because they think you're Prophet?
What the hell is going on. No spoilers please.
It'd be very hard to explain the whole deal without spoilers. The best I can say is to beat the game, then ask any questions you still have.
I'm probably really late, but just noticed a back to the future reference while playing the campaign. There was some electrocuted water (how original), and a warning popped into the hud saying WARNING: 1.21 gigawatts!

I beat the game. I still don't understand it.
It seems like the only reason they want to kill you is because Prophet [sp]killed some of their guys for whatever reason.[/sp]
Also it makes me angry that I played as another silent protagonist. Seriously, it makes the game so much more involving when your guy talks. It doesn't even need to be some super well developed character, Isaac Clarke was just fine.
Like when near the end someone was asking "Alcatraz, does your radio work?" and I'm like....REPLY DUMBASS

[sp]Prophet killed them because they were trying to hunt him down for pretty much stealing the Nanosuit 2.0 from Hargreave, as well as because he was infected with The Virus. They end up wanting to kill Prophet for revenge for all the deaths he caused, and apparently they just never realize that you're not Prophet, despite Gould saying so in front of the C.E.L.L. commander.
As for the silent protagonist, story-wise, he was pretty much torn to shreds inside, what with the damaged lungs and ribs and such. But hey, he (or maybe it was Prophet?) says something during the ending cinematic, so maybe he'll talk next game. I really don't see the big deal about having a talking protagonist. I mean, with a silent protagonist you can insert yourself into the role and pretend it's really you who's the hero and not just another character. I've played many games where the player character is just not likable. Silent Protagonists are more likable for me because I can make their personality however I want it.[/sp]
Could I get a hand please?
I'm at the part where [sp] You run around after having Gould taken away, and that old dude is talking to you and tells you to go to the Alien Hive, and you do that, so you're going to these things and shoving your hand into them, whatever the fuck that does, I wasn't paying attention.[/sp] Well, I got to [sp] the second one, where there is a bit of a water fall, and then a huge vortex like hole that all the water is flowing into and the second alien thing you shove your hand into. I shoved my hand into it and now its telling me to go to an area, but I can't access it, I spent 25-30 minutes running around and couldn't figure out what to do. [/sp]
If you did the same thing I did, it sounds like you ran past the first one, which is in the first big area you come across. You'll need to backtrack a bit.
Wow I've been playing the single player for a while and Hot Damn this game is great! It feels like the mechanics of the suit are much more fluid and it makes me actually feel powerful using it to my advantage. The only thing I don't like is the fact that there is no link to the first Crysis at all. I haven't finished the game yet so I'm hoping the story redeems itself and the link is made (doubtful).
3 things
1. HOLY SHIT THE CAMPAIGN IS LONGER THEN I THOUGHT
2. Isn't Dr. Gould the guy who made the nuke launcher in Crysis 1?
3. If #2 is true, then I believe it was Dr. Gould who is the guy who talks to Prophet and Nomad before Nomad goes up to the top deck to watch the nukes go off.
3.1: All this is IIRC information. I last played Crysis in July 2010.
Am I the only one whose main reason for not purchasing this yet is that I don't want to start at level 5 online
If its just the console version, don't enter the key and give it away.

Also, [sp] At the ending, this kind of confused me when Alcatraz got up and said " they call me the prophet". Who was he talking to and was Prophet's continuousness get mixed with Alcatraz's or was it just a flash back?[/sp]
So let me get this straight about the ending:
[sp]Aliens did something to Prophet in Crysis 1. Prophet somehow returns in Crysis 2 and now he has some power that allows him to "become one with the suit." Prophet gives his nanosuit to Alcatraz, including a bit of himself in it. Alcatraz dies(?) and his quickly revived thanks to Prophet, who now becomes infused with Alcatraz or something along the line.[/sp]
Never thought a serious sci-fi story could get any more special.
and strange how Alcatraz's [sp]only dialogue in the game[/sp] is in the ending.
Actually, you missed a few details that make it less camp...
[sp]The nanosuit was always like that. It's organic, and was reverse engineered from Ceph tech taken from Tunguska during the 20th century. Over time, it develops a symbiotic relationship with it's wearer. The nanosuit is not just nanites, it also uses some type of virus for, what I assume, is data transfer(afterall, DNA IS the greatest hard drive known to man). The Ceph were utilizing a bioweapon, a virus, as a genocidal weapon against humanity, which infected Prophet. The Nanosuit either didn't have the proper software or Prophet didn't have access to the facilities you use in Crysis 2 to allow the Nanosuit to reconfigure it's organic components to make an antivirus. When Prophet died, the suit wouldn't let go, probably due to it's programming(in an effort to keep the user alive, not just Prophet, or under orders from CryNet), and "transferred" Prophet's consciousness and memories over from his nervous system to the suit's hard layers, where the suit's AI presumably assumed Prophet's personality. Alcatraz suffered the same fate, and the suit/Prophet hybrid has now become the Alcatraz/Prophet/Nanosuit hybrid. They are now Prophet, but all expressed through Alcatraz, who is now the sole body.[/sp]
Okay, let's all take some deep breaths now.

And just so you all know; I'm 16, but I like to think I have enough basic knowledge of Fringe science concepts/Pseudoscience Concepts and Biomed Tech as well as biology to make slight embellishments. That's what I gathered from the plot. A good majority of that was stated in game, but that's just my 2 cents.

You can't explain it without spoilers really
Though, Alcatraz is mute and incapable of talking once he's in the suit.
As for Alcy boy's oddly placed speaking? Pure dramatics.

Gah god dammit man, Ninja'd
Finally got everything to work right. No more minor glitches in singleplayer and I also got the serial code to stay. Now time to kick some Ceph ass without stuff being a thorn in my side.
Does your nano suit's appearance change in multiplayer when you progress through the levels?
Why the fuck doesn't my serial code stick in the steam version?
Why was speed mode removed in Crysis 2?
Why was speed mode removed in Crysis 2?
It wasn't. Press shift and run.

Nah, that guy is completely different. Also, when you go back to actually get the TAC Launcher, you can see his corpse right next to the launcher.

Nope.

Sprinting in Crysis 2 is slow as hell compared to sprinting in speed mode in Crysis. Speed mode also made you reload and walk faster in Crysis.
The graphics options being happy, llama, furious, and funambulus pennati makes more sense than the current graphics options.
I still need to get this game, I actually had fun in the previous crysis games while my friends disagree :(
Why the fuck doesn't my serial code stick in the steam version?
Try this. It's straight from a developer from the MyCrysis forums.
1. Load Crysis 2, go to multiplayer and type in your key
2. Navigate back to Single Player
3. Go back into multiplayer and re-enter your key
Thanks.
FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
I just played my best two games of Crysis 2 so far on multiplayer (actually killed people), went from rank 6 to 9, and now I log back in and I'm rank 6 again without any of the unlocks or dogtags. On top of that the friend system is broken and I can't get into a server, fuck off Crytek.
Beat it.
The ingame hour thing says 5 hours 39 minutes, but Steam says I've played it for 8 hours. :psyduck: (And I haven't played any MP yet)
I had about that time played, too. It certainly felt longer than that.
Just beat Crysis. That was the most fucking amazing game I ever played. Ever.
:unsmith:
I had about that time played, too. It certainly felt longer than that.
It was a lot longer than I expected it to be.
Maybe it doesn't count the time when you die and reload a checkpoint or something. No way it was only 5 hours long.
