apart from the waves is there actually any significant difference between the console and pc version
It looks like the same pic but someone just replaced water.
[editline]25th March 2011[/editline]
I think someone found a way to replace my Steam.exe with a keylogger or some shit. I just deleted Steam.exe and reinstalled steam and apparently the reinstalled version is 1000 kb bigger than my old one.
Also, the text box was different before. Like it was made in Visual Basic.

Hint: the editor from the leak works if you decrypt the PAK files using the above tool.
Do you have to repack the folders to use the editor or what?
The retail version runs a LOT better than the leak! Unfortunately, it still doesn't know what an 8800 GTS is.
Crysis 2 is one of the best games I've ever played, and is quite possibly one of the best games ever made. Sure, some things are lacking, but they don't take away from the actual game itself - unlike the original game, Crysis 2 isn't a glorified tech demo!
Still, I can't help but agree with people saying that Crytek has sold out - not to the console crowds, and not entirely, but the lack of an editor in the game, combined with the encrypted files and lack of dedicated server files can only lead to one conclusion - they won't support mods for the game! Furthermore, they seem to instead be swinging over to providing maps as paid DLC, which is pretty terrible!
Apart from that, though, there doesn't seem to be much substance to the complaints of the game being consolized - after all, why do we need the game to run in DX11 when all that does is provide a bunch of pointless graphical effects to a game that already looks stunning? If you need graphics on a prettier scale, you could always visit a park or something. Advanced graphical options? Why not just play the game? Geez, guys, it's like you're trying to...

...oh.
Crysis wasn't a glorified tech demo either.
What the fuck why do people always think that. Just because it had good graphics?
If you take away the "tech demo" parts of Crysis, you really end up taking the "Crysis" out of it. After all, the game is designed to demonstrate the CryEngine 2's capabilities in terms of graphics, physics, level size, and customizability. The majority of the Crysis levels take place in gigantic maps spanning large stretches of terrain with arguably amazing graphics. Furthermore, the palm trees, wooden shacks and vehicles are mainly there just so you can rip them to pieces/blow them up!
Now, those things are considered to be what made Crysis Crysis. However, they are also in a way what makes it a tech demo! Perhaps "glorified tech demo" is putting too sharp an edge on it, but the game IS designed for the most part as a technology showcase, especially considering how most computers at the time could barely run it properly.
Uh, I could run the game on an Athlon 64 single core and 8600GTS.
You don't *have* to max out the game, you know that?
[editline]25th March 2011[/editline]
Also, those sound more like features, especially the destruction, it is a gameplay feature.

you certainly don't have to, but you have to admit that it takes away much of its immersion
You don't *have* to max out the game, you know that?
Yep, I do, but you have to admit - the game is made to be played at high settings. In a way, the things like that are as integral to the game as the gameplay itself, because it's designed around them.

The only thing you lose is the physics.

You can say that about ANY game
the hardest difficulty, whatever it's called, is actually really fun. it basically FORCES you to actually think up a tactic before you run in head first, while still being fun and not too impossible.
I have to object to Rusty's closing of the nanosuit neuter thread. Posting it here would gain nothing but people disagreeing with it because as was said, it's like badmouthing minecraft on the minecraft forums.
Any definitive date when they release Dx11?

hey so just in case you didn't notice, keeping everything related to one game in a single megathread has been the rule for years

Really? hmm. Never noticed.
While some textures and effects don't look very good on their own, Crysis 2 is still the best looking game I've ever seen because of the way the effects are used. The subtle DOF and blur and the great lighting makes it look amazing.
Just got the game a few hours ago. I'm almost at the end and I fucking love it. I never found a use for the power kick at all and some of the suit modules are pointless.
Well I have been playing this game for quite some time and I am just in awe by how great the environments are. They are really awesome looking, tons of detail. The level design flows well with them too considering how much stuff is packed into them.
When I had the leak I was a little skeptical about the game, I had only tested the first level to see how it runs and was a bit disappointed. Mostly by the change in gameplay direction the game took. It's much more streamlined but the more I play the more I like it. The whole stealth mode and armor mode being the two major modifications really mixes well, while running is automatically speed mode and such. The customization in weapons is still there so that also makes me rather happy. Add on some upgradeable nano-suit additions and it's even better. I could talk about this game all day I haven't had this much fun in a long time.
The storyline is also pretty awesome so far, it captures my interest and the characters I actually care about. They aren't just some random AI moving around. It's hard to explain, but I can only compare them to the characters of lets say Half Life 2 and Metro 2033, they just feel right. Animations, facial features, acting. For instance the first time you meet Gould was just really awesome, had a very Half Life 2 feel to it.
Another notable thing is when there is no gunplay involved, just parts where you freely move around while someone talks to you. Hits home, feels good man.
Also the game runs hella good. 1920x1080 on very high and I was surprised by the smoothness.
Why did I purchase ACII instead of waiting for Game to take my dosh and ship me Crysis 2?
:argh:
You know, this is one of the few games where you feel bad for everyone and feel helpless.
:smith:
God dammit. Every time I quit the game I lose my save progress. I beat half the game on Post-Human Warrior in one sitting, then I come back, and I've got 0% progress :(

I always whisper before I stealth kill someone. It's a habit I somehow got playing Crysis 2 for the few hours I've had it so far.

I only used it to one-hit Ceph and kicking cars around for fun. Never killed an enemy with a car...
Im kinda undecided between Crysis 2 or Homefront. Slightly Leaning towards Crysis though. Yet im not too sure with Homefront.
Toss me a reasons to buy this. I want to know what people think about it.

Extremely interesting storyline and gameplay.

Homefront's gameplay and story fail in comparison to Crysis 2.
Because N2, CryENGINE 3, Crysis 2, Not Homefront.
Because it's longer than 2-4 hours in Singleplayer and lets you do shit instead of playing "Allies Kicking Down Doors Simulator 2000".
I don't understand why people are opposed to the fact that Crysis 2 is a lot different than the first. I had a lot more fun playing the Crysis 2 campaign and it seemed to be very well made. I was initially disappointed in the lack of graphics options but I totally forgot about it after playing. The graphics were still beautiful and the scale and detail of the city and the environments were done well.

I might be sounding slightly Blonde here, But do i need to know anything from the Original Crysis or does that not matter to Crysis 2 much? (...Not that it would matter, I seriously doubt the Original would get ported to consoles)

Pretty much this. People just expect too much because of the first game.
I like this game so far, just love making up tactics to get through the parts.
