I think you guys need to understand this is a Demo.
"Oh no it has rewards for killstreaks it's a COD Clone"
Having played the Beta i can say that Skyline is the smallest map and that there are far larger maps than what you've seen.
And the guy cancelling his 2 pre-orders because he couldn't change the graphics settings, you need to stop and think that this is a rushed, console-fied demo to tide us over for another 3 weeks.
You all know Crytek as one of the last bastions of PC-Gaming and that they were a bit set back by the leak, and you know that they will continue to take constructive criticism if you actually provide it instead of lashing out at them because you didn't like the 6% of the game you just played.
can't wait to use sandbox3
The demo is fucking A. I hope they put more graphics modifiers in the full game, because I don't want to have to play on a low resolution all the time.
Its pretty enjoyable when you get used to it, I changed the melee to middle mouse and seem to be doing alot better
There will be no DX11 on launch! It will be patched in!

I tried playing the Crysis 2 demo on my PC but it turned into an Xbox and I turned into a twelve year old with the username "eP1k111eR"
[editline]1st March 2011[/editline]
But seriously, the server system, the way you form groups, the usernames, the killcams, the PRESS START TO CONTINUE, and the aim assist all make me feel like I am playing Call of Duty on an xbox, and that I am 12.
I'm also thinking about remapping buttons, default controls are horrible.
Got the game to start up, but I can't log in with my gamespy account just like everyone else.

Um, source?

I can't launch the demo hah.
"Cannot access CrySystem.dll" i think is the error i am getting.
Any ideas as to why this is happening?

This is really pissing me off. Every time I get killed it was because someone either just randomly shot across the map and the bullet physics allowed for me to run into it with my head, or they were spraying and swinging their mouse around wildly with no skill whatsoever.
Armor mode is a fucking joke, it doesn't help at all and probably only allows you to take maybe one more bullet than normal, if even that, and doesn't protect you enough so that you don't die when you enable it with low health.
The middle mouse button menu is horrible. I want to select cloak mode quickly, so I click and hold the mouse wheel and immediately flick my mouse in the direction of the cloak area, then let go immediately, everything happening within less than a second. Oh cool, now instead of going invisible at a critical moment, I enable my suit visor's zoom function and die. Cool, probably hinting at the fact that the game uses some sort of mouse acceleration and this is a symptom of it (negative acceleration caused by the mouse moving too fast.)
The SCAR is horribly overpowered. Someone shouldn't be able to sit on the other side of the map in cloak mode and then shoot 15 times and get a kill on someone also on the other side of the map, who happens to have a DSG-1. The Jackal is horribly underpowered taking three or four shots to kill someone in front of your face.
Enemies are way, way too hard to see. The guys in the orange/brown suits (Marines?) are almost invisible on Pier 17, while the same is true for the white/blue guys (C.E.L.L.?) on Skyline. Everything looks washed out like the contrast was set to 0, yet my brightness is configured properly just the way the game asks. The HDR is just too much at times and you're basically blinded coming out of a dark area into a brighter one like on Skyline, meaning someone having lower graphics settings than you are is going to have the advantage.
Reminds me way too fucking much of Counter-Strike. People even do the stupid hold crouch and spray shit.
I know I could have done way better had there not been such horrible mouse lag. It makes tracking enemies extremely hard, and flicking is just impossible. The game is really infuriating, especially when you get killed by someone you know you're a hundred times better than. Worst K/D I've ever gotten out of any of the matches I've played, and when I was playing it seemed like I was doing much, much worse.
On the positive side, the maps are brilliantly laid out and everything is great looking, even if it may be at a cost of not performing as well as someone who can't run the game at as high of a setting as you. The animations are wonderful and you feel like you're really holding a weapon that has some weight to it. The player models are great and I love the effects armor mode has on them, as well as cloak mode. All the sounds are pretty good but I'd like it if they changed the sniper rifle's so it feels more powerful. Hopefully there is a single shot rifle in the full game that allows for one shot kills. I'd also like it if they changed the grenade explosion sound that has been used in all the Crysis games so far. It just sounds awful and is in need of much more bass.
However, hit detection is great. Even when I was playing with 300 ping the other day, everything was registering even though kills and things obviously took a half second longer to actually happen. There isn't any warping to be seen and everything is very, very smooth.
The suit handles amazingly and it does what you want it to 99% of the time, that 1% being when you enable the wrong suit function. Strength jumping is of great use, but melee seems to be somewhat overpowered; not nearly on the level of the SCAR though. Sprinting takes the perfect amount of suit energy to not be a burden. I didn't use the visor the entire time I was playing so that probably needs to be revised and given some actual use instead of just being there, almost completely useless.
I loved the HUD and the way it moves. The color is great and reminds me of the original Crysis and it tells you everything you need to know and has a fairly large area for radar that doesn't take up too much of the screen. Nothing really to complain about there.
Overall, I'm reminded more of Counter-Strike than anything. Killstreak rewards were pretty much nonexistent and the only thing that was even remotely like Call of Duty was the class customization and the way the perks are setup/what they do/how they are named.
Whenever I try to run the Crysis 2 Demo a message pops up saying "Failed to initialize the GameStartup Interface". Can someone help me out?
snip automerge
Anyone else think going stealth is way too easy? I just played 3 rounds in a row and got more than 20 kills and less than 5 deaths each time. I think the energy needs to drain faster.
I'm not getting the mouse lag people are getting, I wonder why.

Who the hell cares. We're still getting DX11 support, just no on launch. Would you rather they delay the entire game to patch in DX11?

The fact that you even can form groups is a great thing.
What is wrong with killcams? It's a good feature, I'm guessing you can turn it off.
Turn off the aim assist.

The mouse can get pretty snappy on laggy servers. Are you sure you're launching the game through the game.exe and not the launcher.exe?
As for headshots across the map, I can't help you there, but I suggest using invisibility when going across open areas, or at least armor if you want to shoot back at people.
-snip-
Armor mode should be the default mode :argh: without a speed impact.
Armor mode should be the default mode :argh: without a speed impact.
Thats what turned me off the first Crysis multiplayer, people took a million shots to die because armor was the default option.
Armor Mode sucks unless they aren't aiming for your head. Then it just barely sucks. But then again most gamers aim for the head instinctually...
Does anyone know any console commands or ways to disable the mouse smoothing or the bloom rape?
armor mode is useless
cloak mode is decent to get away for a while
it sucks that strength jump is ALWAYS on though because if I'm in cloak mode and I want to get over a small obstacle I don't want to waste energy doing an unnecessarily huge jump

Tap space. You only strength jump when you hold it down for a short amount of time.
Anyone actually kill anything with the scout shotgun yet? I played for an hour or so and only got one kill with it.
