I think part of the reason why playing this is appealing to me when stuff like CoD I can't stand playing is because of the setting/motif
As a fan of realism/depth in games, I have a serious problem playing games like CoD and Counterstrike, because they simply inject a "modern weapons" skin on top of a quake clone with less health. Being a fan of America's Army (the old one) and ArmA2 (in spirit at least), I just prefer games that have a "realistic" grounded setting to have gameplay that reflects that.
It's why I don't like arcadey shooters when they try and act like realistic shooters. It makes no sense to me from a designer standpoint and a player standpoint why a game with a realistic basis and setting would ever have arcade-like gameplay. And not to say I don't enjoy arcade shooters because..
It's why I enjoyed TF2 despite being an arcade shooter. And it's why I feel like I can enjoy Crysis 2. Now I wouldn't consider Crysis 2 an arcade shooter but it has just enough of a science fiction element to make it feel like a well grounded, arcade shooter. It doesn't try and kid itself using realistic names for weapons, it doesn't pretend its something that it isn't (except being a CoD clone of course).
I feel like the CoD formula fits the Crysis universe much better than the CoD games do ironically is what I am getting at. It just *clicks* in my head and makes sense. I can believe all the psudo-realism because the game is supposed to be in the future and thus makes sense from a cannon standpoint for the game to play like it does with Nanosuits and such.
It doesn't make sense when games like Counterstrike and CoD do the same thing in my head, which is a HUGE deal breaker for me personally.

Guess this is what I get for getting the majority of my XP through stealth kills, apparently the game doesn't really have much unlock support for that playstyle

It's probably just because it's a demo.

same problem c1 and wars had. intense graphics + competitive multiplayer does not work as a combo. everyone always ends up turning all the fancy stuff off and crysis ends up losing part of its uniqueness

I dont know about you but I get flawless FPS on this with "max" settings using a GTX 460 (OC'd, but still)

I think he had aim assist on, he had some really bullshit kills
Also a guy followed me through a wall and got a headshot with a sniper rifle

it's not too bad on my 5850 but it definitely feels smoother when you turn a lot of stuff down or off. then you have all the motion blur and bloom and other effects that are a bit of a detriment in a competitive environment. not to say i don't like the graphics, since i enjoy having everything looking pretty even if it makes me play terribly, but it's hard to play seriously with all the effects when they're on
I have settings on low now, at non-native resolution, and it still looks great IMO.
I can deal with > 30 fps in single player, that's where I'll crank the settings.
I've been investing quite a bit of time into playing the demo. It's only two maps and two game modes, but I've already put in 6+ hours, even after reaching Rank 10 in the first few hours of playing. I will, no doubt, be purchasing Crysis 2. I've been able to play it on the highest graphical setting (hardcore) at 60+ fps, which is good, and I haven't encountered any game-breaking bugs so far. Something is broken with the "friends" system, though.

That must explain the few times I ran into people who were able to always kill me in 2-3 hits when I was in armor mode despite me having the jump and dealing damage way before they saw me
I'd go back to where they were camping out, get the jump (couldn't get a stealth kill with how they were positioned), get 2 or so melee hits in. Then he'd turn around and pretty much one hit kill me
Are groin shots instakill or just on last hit?

I'm getting really annoyed that my unlocks aren't staying unlocked. I want to rank up my other modules/weapons but they keep glitching and staying locked even though they stay equipped. I know I've complained about this before, but this is really killing how much time I want to spend on the demo.

But.. it seems holding the iron sight button to zoom has really grown on me.
Does anyone know how to make this let me login? With my gamespy account, it gives me the invalid character error. With my Mycrysis account, it returns me to the login screen after a few seconds with no message.

Character error. Are you typing normal words over there?
Both are valid accounts on either site, and the mycrysis one was created ingame. The one with the invalid character error uses no illegal characters as stipulated by the error.

Forget the invalid character. I made a new gamespy account and it said same thing. I then made mycrisis account on mycrisis website with same details, and guess what? It didn't say it was in use or anything, it just made one. After trying it ingame, it said same thing again. So I made another account, with same username and pass again, and it didn't say anything about being used either but it worked.
Make an account ingame with no numbers/special characters in the username, password and email. That's what worked for me, having both my proper Gamespy & MyCrysis login not work.
The email can be made up, it doesn't need to be activated.
Is there anyway to tag people with the nanovision and have it not take you out of nanovision? I click to tag and it takes me out.
So after playing the demo and really enjoying the new suit functions, I'm really hoping that someone remakes the original on Cryengine 3.
Seems like it would be pretty doable considering how much you can do with the Sandbox.

Thankyou, this worked. A shame I'm playing on a name different to normal. I sincerely hope these accounts do not carry over if I do decide to preorder.
