The second Crysis 2 demo sucks
Thanks for your well thought out inputs.
Second?
Yeah, second. It even has less content than the first :downs:
My point isn't that they've copied this or that feature, although they did, and the fact that they did helps my argument. My point is that the combination of changes between the previous installments in the Crysis series and Crysis 2 have made the game feel like COD. It's not that they've added one or more features, it's that they've changed the gameplay formula heavily in order to make it resemble COD. Adding classes, perks, or even killstreaks alone wouldn't have been a bad thing. Making minor changes like that is called refinement. However, they've copied all of those things and more. Rather than refine the gameplay, resulting in a similar game with a few new features thrown in, they've redefined it, in this case by throwing out their own game design philosophy and replacing it with that of COD's, presumably in order to make it more popular amongst console gamers. It's not the perks or killstreaks that make it COD clone, it's all of those features combined with COD's game design philosophy. [editline]6th March 2011[/editline] Not sure why everyone's so adamant about Crysis 2 not being like COD anyway, it's practically a moot point. People who liked the demo described it as COD-like, so arguing that it isn't is pointless and wrong.
True, but I guess you missed my point. My point was that Crytek used this formula, but doesn't mean it's a CoD clone. As some people said, it works better with Crysis backstory and environment. If Crysis 2 were first to use this gameplay and features, everyone would say it's a Crysis clone if CoD or some other similar game would get released after Crysis 2. The point is that this collection of features and type of gameplay works with each other and IW was first to find it and refine it. So obviously if some other dev uses it, it's not because they want to copy CoD itself (sometimes this is true), but they just figured out CoD formula is what they need and they would come up with similar feature-set of CoD (maybe in next iteration of the game, doesn't matter) if they didn't know about CoD. Kinda semantics if you think about it, but just wanted to share my point of view. I do agree with you on your other posts and I dislike CoD gameplay too, so I don't know why Crytek couldn't do both CoD and classic.
Second?
Yeah, this is their second demo.
Uh-huh. And what was the first?
Yeah, this is their second demo.
Second as in number 2? Are you referring to PC demo being 2nd because 1st was 360 demo? Or do you mean the leak?
how do I fix the leak from: a. People's skin literally being black b. Transparent heads c. Freezing 9/10 times d. Fixing the editor so that it works
how do I fix the leak from: a. People's skin literally being black b. Transparent heads c. Freezing 9/10 times d. Fixing the editor so that it works
By wait until the game is actually released.
Uh-huh. And what was the first?
Probably the leak.
Second as in number 2? Are you referring to PC demo being 2nd because 1st was 360 demo? Or do you mean the leak?
There was a demo a few months ago, and now there is one now?
There was a demo a few months ago, and now there is one now?
Same demo, different platform.
How does this one suck? It's an updated version with an extra map. Besides the first one was actually a beta and not a demo,
So I've played the demo for a while now and IMO it could be as well named Modern Warfare 3. It is almost the same, except for being set in future. :10bux: Future Warfare will have techno-suits. Also, it's quite buggy, not saving classes and friends.
I wish my computer could play this without crashing. Specifically the GPU overheating :(
Quick question to people who have played Crysis 1... ... is it true? Have they dumbed the game down in order to appease the console community?
Dumbed down? No. Stream lined so it's easier to pick up for new comers? Yep.
Quick question to people who have played Crysis 1... ... is it true? Have they dumbed the game down in order to appease the console community?
They haven't dumbed down anything, especially not to please the console community. People need to stop thinking that they made this game into Call of Duty. Everything is just more focused on close combat as opposed the first game's long range fights.
With borrowed elements from CoD, though. But that doesn't make the whole game into a CoD clone like everyone thinks it is. Double postin' all day
Quick question to people who have played Crysis 1... ... is it true? Have they dumbed the game down in order to appease the console community?
The game's been simplified, and the MP is significantly different from the first one's. However, it doesn't seem consolized. Obviously, there are features that are in because of consolization, but as a whole, it seems Crytek's found a very nice middle ground.
-snip- Woah, double post. Compwhizzi must be doing something.
Can someone that played the leak confirm that you can still pick up and throw loose objects?
Saints Row forums are the same, if not, worse.
Something tells me its filled with 14 year old wannabe gangsters.
Something tells me its filled with 14 year old wannabe gangsters.

ok... havent you wondered what it would be lie for saints row to have animals in it? lie dangerous animals TOO! lie swimming gets a bit boring so why not swim with dolphins or, manites or evan swim away from a shar once and then? it would be AWESOME RIGHT? it would also be cool to where if theres lie a forest or something you could stumble upon a lion or a family of gorillas or hunt for deer if you feel like it. let me now whath yall think...
No, they're filled with wanabe females. There is a female discussion thread with 72 pages.
I guess i'm some sort of videogame transvestite. I don't dress up as a lady in real life, but when I play videogames, i always choose or make sexy ladies. Basically the system needs more content. My MC is usually attired in a sleeveless catsuit made from comboing a matching top and trousers, and wears the ladies dress shoes or whatever you call them, which look good. Most of the other shoes look a bit lame. Ultimately i'd want to do the catsuit/boots thing, having spent too much of my formative years playing Tekken Tag, but the ones in SR2 don't look that great. You can kind of make boots by using long socks, but they still look stripy, and you can't wear them over trousers. It would be sweet to have more choice as to whether stuff is tucked in or not. You own the clothes, so if you can't it's kind of frustrating. The fireman's outfit in SR2 protects you from fire. Would be awesome if you could get a classic videogame ninja catsuit, as worn by Nina from Tekken, Jill in Resident Evil, Joanna Dark etc. Fireproof and bullet resistant. Actually it could come in a men's version too. Works for Sam Fisher, Solid Snake etc. Lady version has more room and support in the booby department obviously. They could have an awesome secret shop, or specialist you could phone up. The spy outfitter. Also sell bulletproof tuxedos, laser watches, invisible Aston Martins and heat vision sunglasses (or monocles for super villains). Also more hair options. I always went for the classic ponytail. None of the others looked quite right to me.
I'm seeing a lot of denial in this thread. Crysis 2 IS dumbed down, not streamlined. Don't you remember Crysis 1 and Warhead? I'm talking Battlefield 2-esque map sizes, full weapon customization, full nanosuit capabilities, flying vehicles, handheld nukes etc. And what do you get in Crysis 2? Gameplay similary to Call of Duty. For fucks sake, in Crysis 1 I used to ride on top of a VTOL while my friend slowly gained altitude. I mean seriously, the moment I saw "PRESS ANY KEY TO BEGIN" on the title screen I knew what was coming. The gameplay is Call of Duty set in the future. I first entered a game and the first thing I noticed were the killstreaks of 3, 5, and 7 kills. When I killed somebody in the game, an all too familiar +50 sign came up. Not to mention the hilariously similar hit indicator. The character movement itself even FEELS like Call of Duty. The customization menu allows you to customize perks and gives a variety of sight and under barrel attachments for your guns; exactly like Call of Duty. Now, I'm not saying that it isn't a good game, but the undeniable fact is that it smells rather COD-ish. Mass Effect 2 was streamlined, Crysis 2 is consolized.
I thought Crysis multiplayer was horrible, to be honest. I didn't enjoy it as much as I did Crysis 2.
I thought Crysis multiplayer was horrible, to be honest. I didn't enjoy it as much as I did Crysis 2.
A mix of the two would be perfect... BC2 with Nanosuits!
