I'm seeing a lot of denial in this thread. Crysis 2 IS dumbed down, not streamlined. Don't you remember Crysis 1 and Warhead? I'm talking Battlefield 2-esque map sizes, full weapon customization, full nanosuit capabilities, flying vehicles, handheld nukes etc. And what do you get in Crysis 2? Gameplay similary to Call of Duty. For fucks sake, in Crysis 1 I used to ride on top of a VTOL while my friend slowly gained altitude.
I mean seriously, the moment I saw "PRESS ANY KEY TO BEGIN" on the title screen I knew what was coming. The gameplay is Call of Duty set in the future. I first entered a game and the first thing I noticed were the killstreaks of 3, 5, and 7 kills. When I killed somebody in the game, an all too familiar +50 sign came up. Not to mention the hilariously similar hit indicator. The character movement itself even FEELS like Call of Duty. The customization menu allows you to customize perks and gives a variety of sight and under barrel attachments for your guns; exactly like Call of Duty.
Now, I'm not saying that it isn't a good game, but the undeniable fact is that it smells rather COD-ish. Mass Effect 2 was streamlined, Crysis 2 is consolized.
And somehow I got dumbs and disagree when said basically the same thing.
It's not a bad game, it's good, but it feels too much like CoD set in future. Take out the suit powers and see what you get. In spite of it I really like the gameplay in the demo, but I'm really not sure if it's worth it.
I played a few rounds more. It was fun but I can't see myself playing it for as long as I played TF2 for example. I have 100+ hours there and that's after I reset my stats in 2009.
It's not...tactical enough. Most of the time it's pure luck. It's "who spots who first" and that is heavily influenced by the suit-power.
I'd say using your suit in a wise way is the tactic here but seeing it drain so fast and since there is almost no way for you to think ahead in most situations, it's a game of luck with that too.
It feels like 90% of me getting killed is not because I do anything wrong but rather being unlucky and that's frustrating.
stop comparing crysis/crysis 2 to other games
Gotta say, this is some seriously ace level design. I've been stuck on the same 2 maps but I'm still not bored.
Also, the holographic decoy was a GREAT idea!

I understand the point you're trying to make here, but most of this is just good design. Yeah, +50 comes up when you kill someone, what else would you expect? The same thing goes for hit markers. All these things are pretty much industry standard now, so I tend to think of this stuff less as "COD clone" and more like "Modern FPS multiplayer", in the same way that sandbox games used to be called GTA clones, and FPS's Doom clones.
Can someone that played the leak confirm that you can still pick up and throw loose objects?
Anyone?
i dont really like the level design in this; its boxes with model/caustics spam
Loved the gameplay, really, surprised me, intense and fast paced. However the blur and bloom shit thats over my head srsly, cant see shit. also why lock the fucking graphical settings? rate me clocks but how are they expecting us to see if we can run this shit? :blank:

They'll have advanced graphics settings and tweaking in the full release.

I don't know of any other "Modern FPS multiplayer" that has killstreaks that are blatantly copied off MW2(Maximum Radar(UAV) Orbital Strike(Precision airstrike), Ceph Gunship(Harrier Strike)). Or perks that are cookie cutter versions of MW2(Faster reload, More health).

Actually if you want to call them a ripoff the correct CoD would be CoD4.
There isn't even a perk for "more health". There's a perk that makes armor mode last longer, but that's not like juggernaut at all. MW2 didn't even have juggernaut.
can anyone who's played the leak tell me how to fix mine? I can just about get in to gameplay after a huge struggle but the graphics are all messed up (faces are wrongly textured, so is everything else)

I sort of agree, but what the hell else are you gonna have for your bonuses in a shooter?

They got lazy and just ported the Xbox demo instead of making an acutal PC demo. Don't ask me why, because that's pretty retarded.
Point is, it's obvious that Crysis 2 gameplay is hugely based off the COD series. Playing on a server without nanosuits, it's a carbon copy of MW2. Playing with nanosuits, it's a carbon copy of MW2 but with the ability to scale higher walls.

Loose objects as in laptops, monitors, and boxes?
Yes you can, one of the tips tells you to throw items when sneaking to distract enemies.

I do agree here. Sad that they abandoned the creativity in order to make some more cash, but it is fun to play. Cloak and suit powers make it different enough for me to enjoy.
Whenever I play the demo I get raped in like 2 seconds all the time. Everyone seems to get headshots all the time and I always die in less than 2 shots it seems. It's hard to aim and everything justs seems so jumpy.

That's because they left auto-aim in there because of their lazy port

Cool.
That doesn't save it from being rather terribly designed/balanced from a multiplayer standpoint and broken as hell, which it was.
Atleast Crysis 2 as some semblance of balance (sans the SCAR being clearly the most OP easy to use weapon in the game), and good design, even if much of that design is ripped from CoD. It also helps that CoD's gameplay style fits Crysis 2's theme better than it fits the whole "Hurr durr modern warfare" theme (the hurr durr is in reference to the fact that it's hollywood-ized).

nice job showing a 4 month old build that has been much improved since
also you're funny "blatantly copied off mw2" yeah thats why when you get a killstreak you're marked as a target for the other team and it is their priority to hunt you down and kill you before they get further killstreaks. oh did I mention there are vehicles, an AI commander, squad/clan bases including VOIP, a battle points system where if you get enough points you can buy things like rocket launchers/vehicles/etc in game?

Yeah I agree. If they made the map sizes slightly bigger, made the suit modes that aren't cloak/armor more pronounced, and got rid of the GOD AWFUL random spwan system, then it would be miles better than both CoD and what it currently is now.
All the servers seem to not be starting a game in the demo (pc)
There was a demo a few months ago, and now there is one now?
Same demo.

Only on if you're using a pad.
How does this one suck? It's an updated version with an extra map. Besides the first one was actually a beta and not a demo,
The map Pier 17 is just absolutely horrible. Oh yeah, that old one was a beta, not a demo, lol.

So did anyone confirm that autoaim works with kb/mouse if you connect a pad?

So its Call of Battlefield 2?
OIC thanx babe

Same knife animation still
HUD is still similar
300 "BP" for random kills. Plus the way it notifies you is the same as CoD's
Its cowadooty with vehicles.

I have no idea why, but it makes me angry to read that. Maybe it's because it looks so fucking stupid.
