Theres pay2play, most of that games are actually high quality or have high addictioin potential, look at wow.
Theres free 2 play, most of that shit is either shit or not yet out, or has a dam small fan base.
Dev's need to go one of the two ways, microtransactions usually make games unfair and give rich players advantages.

Well... it is free unless you pay for anything. So is basically any 'free' online game. Do you really expect them to spend huge amounts on design, coding, advertising, server costs and employment costs and then decide to make no money on it at all or even break even?
A p2p game can still be better, yes- but they have guaranteed income. It's still a choice, and if the payment plan bothers you, then vote with your feet(mouse?) and just don't play the game.
