I used to be a test monkey/mod for warrock (korean free FPS) they had PB as the hack protection and 75 % of the testing we did was making sure PB didn't fuck something up (it did...........alot)

Punkbuster works fine if you download the updater.

I can't play BF2 because goddamn fucking asshole shit punkbuster is always kicking me because it doesn't like a program or driver! I have no fucking idea what program or driver that might be, but I'm only running Steam, avast and Live Messenger and I don't use any beta drivers. And googling it only tells me to open a support ticket that can take a few [B]days[/B] to answer. Guess what shitheads, I want to play BF2 now during the weekend. I don't have the time to play games during the week. Since I bought BF2 I only got to play about 20 minutes and I was dead about 15 of them because I had a shitty 300ms ping because every server where I get a good ping kicks me. RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGEEEEE! [B]Edit:[/B] By the way, the exact same shit happens to two of my friends too. I just bought CoD:WaW (which is about a million times better than the 360 version) and the only downside so far has been the pointless PB kicks. First because of a hardware-temp monitor that installed a driver, then because of Steam overlay. Meanwhile, I'm sure people are figuring out how to get away with real hax.

My thing for Punkbuster vs. VAC is that not only have I seen people get past both, but I also know I've never seen anyone kicked unjustly via VAC. Punkbuster, however, has kicked me out of games I have legally bought and installed SEVERAL HUNDRED TIMES. My personal favourite is when PunkbusterA kicks you for detecting PunkbusterB, and vise versa...

I keep on getting kicked because I'm using Windows 7 apparently. Going to use the fix in this thread though and see if that works.

I like the screenshot function in punkbuster.

I couldn't use PB back when Win7 was in beta so I played COD4 with it disabled. I don't think I ran into a single hacker even with it off.

Oh wow. Don'tm ind my post above stating I had no problems with the overlay. I'm banned for 1 hour from PB (Bf2) thanks to trying to disable the overlay and random lagg. And that Warrock game, I'm permabanned from it because I fucking own. (Read: camping long stairs with sniper)

VAC is better for games with dedicateds.

I get kicked by punkbuster because it misses a tick or something at random times when playing games >.>
