Ubisoft's New DRM: Good idea, or worst thing ever?

Well this is so original and useful, something like this will never be bypassed!:downs:
What? Ubisoft has nothing to do with Bioshock 2.
Bioshock 2 uses GFWL and Securom

Get out.
Ah fuck, I saw similarities and thought they were the same system, rate me bad reading :v:
As expected from the developers that made: Far-cocksuckjesusfuckthisisahorribleterriblegame-Cry 2
I bet hackers will crack it pretty fast. I mean, those who will download the pirated version will play with no problems at all and will not care about internet connection. But those who have actually brought it will be fucked in the butthole. No lube.
See it from Ubisoft's view. All last year (starting with Prince of Persia) everything Ubisoft released had no DRM whatsoever - this included patches to existing games that DID have DRM, therefore the patch removed said DRM in such games. They did this as an experiment to answer the "DRM makes us want to pirate".
Well, it didn't work (no surprise there) so now they're implementing a level of DRM that they feel is appropriate.
Besides, it's going to be second-hand buyers that suffer most, as with all DRM.

Second hand byers don't suffer at all.
Why?
because DRM KILLED THEM!

Pretty much this. You can't resell your games because they are tied to some service.

Not using DRM doesn't make us buy the game. They need to earn respect from the community, so we would really want to give them our money.
Sorry Ubisoft, but it won't be me.
What the flippity fuck are Ubisoft dense fucks? well yes but what the fuck
No, it'll slow down Reloaded for like a day and then they'll crack it.
It's not worth inconveniencing the real customers.
Ubisoft, either accept your games will be pirated. Or only make MMO'RPG's.
Shit isn't Assassins Creed 2 tied in with Ubisoft? If so fuck buying it then, I've beat it on PS3 anywho
Yeah, I was waiting for the PC version in the somewhat stupid hope that there would be some extra content for the added wait like with the first game. It seems the added content may just be some apocalyptically bollocks DRM.
Maybe I'll just get it on XBox, maybe I just won't get it at all. Hopefully however, I'm getting annoyed over nothing and this DRM won't actually be too obnoxious in the long run.
They fucked with the Assassins Creed 2 release date, now they raised the price ten bucks and they pull this shit? Watch AC2/Splinter Cell Conviction top Spore as the highest pirated title.
Thank the lord for consoles :downs:
On the DRM itself ubisoft are just being fucking morons
Then again what they did to prince of Persia makes it not big suprise
I do see why they are adding DRM though. I've probably come off as a bit ignorant by ignoring Ubisoft's side of this, but it's just that in the long run it'll mostly interfere with my experience. I really don't want to have to deal with making accounts and registering CD Keys and all of that stuff before I can play my game.
I know it isn't a huge amount to ask from me for one game, but having to make a separate account for each publisher and all of that sort of thing gets tedious, especially when you take into account that the pirates haven't had to make accounts and all that sort of shit.
Maybe companies like Ubisoft would benefit from reading some of the rants on the internet about their stupidity, it seems like Facepunch has it all sorted out.
What we would do if steam and valve didn't exist.
Ironically enough, if steam DIDN'T exist we wouldn't be getting all these new online anti-piracy shit from everyone.
People see Steam work so well, and think "Hey, I could do that!" and then they try it, and all they succeed at is inconveniencing everyone. Pretty soon we'll have games where you have to be signed into eight different things online just to play it.

Sorry mate. The place is already taken by Modern Warfare 2. Good luck next time, though.
Hey look, something worse than SecuROM.

huh, they raised it's price for PC by 10 dollars? Why the hell would they do that
Guess what Ubisoft?
I'm using, and will continue using STEAM.
If it's like Rockstar Social Club then it's annoying useless shit.
Well, looks like there's one publisher I'll never buy from again. Or so long as they use this system. Because clearly they don't want customers any more.
This is terrible, and i bet ya a lot of companies are going to start following suit seeing as for awhile it will help fight piracy, until it gets cracked.
DRM fucking over the people who bought it yet again!
Worst idea ever
Pretty much a timeline of whats going to happen:
> Ubi release game
> Pirates get hold of game
> DRM gets cracked
> No drm for pirates = offline mode etc
> Legitimate customers get fucked
> ?????
> Fuck you
Will this still allow me to download porn without speed hitches
If it's like Rockstar Social Club then it's annoying useless shit.
It sucks. Every time you play IV it adds itself to start-up again.
This would be fine if it was steam that is used for all my games.
But it used on 1 game
What is up with everyone deciding they need to make a steam?
The only good DRM is Steam.
What is up with everyone deciding they need to make a steam?
They don't want steam taking a profit
I'm certain there will be a user-based emulator out soon to counteract the required server-connection for singleplayer.
I mean, I don't support piracy at all, but this is just going too far.
What I don't understand is why you guys argue the same exact points and the same exact points and just whine page after page when you aren't really annoyed by this system at all once you actually use it
GFWL: Sure, it's annoying. But just register a offline account, press home and you're done! Jesus.
Securom: Yeah, it's annoying, but are you even going to install a game that much times before you get bored of it?
RSSC: It's just a fucking window that pops up and tells you to play!
This: If you're so concerned and you really, really want to play it while you're offline, download a goddamned No-CD patch and use it while you're offline!
You guys are over-exaggerating way too much on this topic.
