Facepunch SC4 Collaboration v2. Now with insane cultists worshipping the void at the edge of town

I'd like a new region, maybe something more mountainous?
We would also keep the plugins that allow more traffic on roads, right?
Yeah, I believe NAM is going to stay. TBH the whole reason I want the SVN now isn't for more safety, but for more space so we can get more plugins in. That said, you wanted a more mountainous region? Check these ones out:

These are all the regions I picked out from when I first started. You can pick one of those or find another somewhere. Also my last question still stands: I need to know if I can use Google Code for the SVN. I don't want to delay this any further, but I do need to know if Google Code supports projects like this so we don't run into an inconsistency/it gets torn down from the site altogether.
For some reason Virgin-Media thought it a good idea to block me from Simtropolis :/
Uh, maybe. I was actually going to let people import their cities into the region, unless you want this one completely clean. I was also thinking of using another region so it doesn't get too stale, once again unless you guys want the same region.
Also, Google Code does support stuff like this, right? I was planning on using that to base the SVN, but Google Code seems incredibly... well... "code" based on the surface. I haven't actually made the thing yet, but I'm wondering if it does support stuff like this that has absolutely no code on it whatsoever.
I think a clean map and new region would work best. It will on get corrupted and uneven if people can import cities. Also I think that a region with much more landmass would work better.
Someone take pics of the current region though?
Maybe this sounds a bit silly but if it really gives so much problems why don't we just agree to not use mods at all

The vanilla game is great without mods to be fair.

plus, most of the mods that i noticed are just weird road pieces that are completely worthless.

This. I am all for only extra building mods, the NAM but without the extra roads, and roadttop transit. Either that or nothing at all.

I've not used anything from NAM, heck im not even sure what it does. I only got it so that I could the collab.

Nam makes it so roads don't get congested as easily, and people will actually drive across town to their jobs. If we are going to have plugins at all, It needs to be this.

I can see how that's useful then.

Interesting how turning off the monitor can cause so much chaos.
Ok, guys, here's the new situation:
I don't think I'm going to be able to set up an SVN over Google Code because I don't think they support this type of project, so we might have to stick with the Dropbox for the time being or switch over to another similar service (Wuala, for example, but I don't know if that'd work, either). However, I really can't devote a lot of time to figuring out a solution right now because I have other really urgent matters that I need to attend most of my time to in the next couple of days, so I'm going to have to leave the project up to you guys. What I am planning on doing right now is setting up an admin account on the Dropbox which will allow you guys to police it and do whatever. Problem is, who will run it? I don't really know, so if you want to volunteer your hand to it, just drop me a PM.
As for the mod situation, you guys would seem to be able to handle it, so figure out a couple possible solutions and I'll hold a vote to see what you guys most like.
-snip-
Maybe we should just keep the mods we have now and start fresh?
So when is the wipe planned then, Fhenexx?
I really don't know, to be honest. I don't think I'll have time to completely redo the region until next week, but I could give you guys the SC4M file of the original region and you can wipe it yourselves if you really want to.
No, no, no, not yet. I want to set up the SVN first before we do that.
Or am I too late? In which case don't bother taking it out, just leave it in until I can set up the SVN.
It is like 6-9 .dat files. It is around 1.5 GB so it will take awhile. NAM is already installed with other good stuff and it all runs nice with each other (AS LONG AS YOU DONT USE ANYTHING ELSE)

Problem is there's a limit of 2GB for the Dropbox, so that'd only leave ~500MB for the region itself (assuming you mean the mods you're uploading plus all the mods currently in the Dropbox).

all the mods in the plugin folder get tossed out because they can already be in the thing. Im not going to upload it twice. When the new whatever is set up I will upload it then.
Why would you name a mod NAM? I can only think of crazy homeless vets screaming "WHEN I WAS IN 'NAM... etc."

I know, but I already had a university, 2 colleges, a fuckton of highschools, and a fuckton of elementary schools before this happened. I'm just annoyed at the fact that everyone wants low cost living.
Since I'm not 100% sure an SVN can be set up, how about using both Wuala and Dropbox? One could be used for the plugins and the other for the region (whichever one you want).
Opinions?

If hosting is the issue with SVN, I'd suggest you to ask around on Facepunch if anyone is willing to host it.

I was originally planning on using Google Code to host it since we don't need an incredibly large amount of space and 2GB is plenty, but I haven't a clue if they support hosting anything other than long lines of code and/or whether our project would be removed for not contouring to such.
Lets just stick with Dropbox for now. There is still 1.5 GB left of space.
I agree with the region wipe, the current one is too small/geographically fucked.
This is really off topic, but did I play Wargame: European Escalation a couple days ago with you, Irish Bandit?
Lets just stick with Dropbox for now. There is still 1.5 GB left of space.
Thing is, people want to use this big ass mod that takes up 1.5GB of space, so I want a way to distribute that without having to cull back the region.

I need a region to put in first before I can do a region wipe.
Just pick one, we won't mind.
