why does simcity 4 look so sexy EVEN 9 YEARS AFTER RELEASE
Obviously those huge... tracts of land.
Well, Maybe I spoke wrong. If you guys out the custom buildings on the dropbox for everyone...? :v:

Can you put up a link for those, Crisis?

Already in there, except for Paris buildings which is another whole load of buildings (300mb I think) so I've not added them.
The models you just put on still are showing up as errors for me, Any ideas Crisis?

Errors in the folders? Or in-game? if the latter then there's a missing dependency file. (Which I'll look for right now)
It's in game, yeah. It says the model is missing. I get weird green/red block instead of the buildings.
Yeah, vanilla SC4 is basically unplayable after years of playing with so many mods that it takes many minutes to get from desktop to in-city.
I'll stay out of this one if you're going to do that.
(Right now I use a hybrid of: SA's beta Gigapack (Containing some version of NAM, something which makes agriculture a viable industry, lush terrain and watery water, and a bunch of buildings) and a lets player's compiled mod folder (The .rar is around 2.5GB. A different version of NAM, CAM and thousands upon thousands of custom buildings he accrued over nearly a decade of SC4ing)
With some stuff taken out of each for compatibility reasons.
It's basically amazing.
It also tends to make the game crash all the time when linking up rail networks. But it's worth it.
Any luck finding the files, Crisis?

Never mind, looks like it's fixed.
Christ, I'll have to install mods?

The game's visuals still have a certain charm to them which I think will still look good in another 9 years time.

Also you don't have to install any mods (other than NAM I'd say) if you don't want the hassle.
Guys, I know which plugins should be put also used!
Riverbanks, waterfronts and modular beaches. Because cities look damn stupid if they just end at the shore with undeveveloped nothingness.

We need stuff like this one:

While that is quite beautiful, perhaps the effect could be amplified through aesthetic designs based on real European cities. Berlin, Paris and Moscow are all centered around points on rivers, with the roads and such fanning out in a spokelike fashion. In Paris specifically, large swathes of developed land were destroyed to create avenues surrounded by long fountains and sequences of trees.
The roundabout and canal mods, along with the european architecture plugins, should do well to build something like these.
Anyway, I hope this is all collected into one spot.
I'm for using no mods at all.
Agree/Disagree?
I'm fine with mods, but it'd be cool if we could have like a mod texture pack or something. Because alot of this stuff is aesthetic.
I hate having to disable dropbox at my school computer because of all the mods.
It says it would take 14 days to download.
It would be nice to have consensus of what everyone is using.
I've been meaning to get back into this. I've got both SC4 and SC4 Rush Hour. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to install it on Windows 7. Should I just buy it on steam?
They install like any other program.
How about we stick with the mods we have now, maybe add that canal mod thing that Geza has and start over?

Oh Lordy no.
It looks like you're going to have start over again anyway.
It looks like you're going to have start over again anyway.
this, region will be wiped
I think a vast majority of people want a wipe, We need one to fix the screwed up RCI. Does anyone have a good map we can go to?
How about we stick with the mods we have now, maybe add that canal mod thing that Geza has and start over?
Ain't canals, it's waterfronts and stuff. I plan to join this thing now, I may add one or two of the best of these riverbank mods...
Also gents, what do you say about an industrial waterfront mod? Industrial districts look a hellova lot better with it.

This one is old, but works flawlessly. Also, if I remember correctly, it doesn't have dependencies.
[editline]9th March 2012[/editline]
And I cannot drop 'em in the dropbox yet, I've only PM'd Fhenexx recently that I wanna join. :v:
