Is that where your city was?
Yes now can you all stop deleting my city file

Let me see if I can help...
Dropbox limits accounts to the amount of data you can transfer in a short amount of time (usually around 10-25 GB) and the amount of data and constant updating and saving will cause that limit to be hit faster than you think.
Wuala might work but I am not sure and I dont know if there is a limit on that (have not hit one in the past but they are owned by LaCie now). As long as their file system thing is installed it should work and the 2 gigs free should work just fine.

yes because no one used the damn thing now shush you
Ok, I think I solved the issue. Try it now.
Now parts of the surrounding land got cut off. Nothing else is there but water.

Also if someone can tell me how to put this damn thing into a window that would be nice. I already gave it the -w argument in a shortcut but it does nothing.

Try loading another map and coming back. Sometimes the map glitches out when more than one person is editing at a time, but it reverts back. It also looks completely fine on my map.

Ok its there now.
who replaced everything with large gaps of water!?
Updated the OP with a few more Q&As, among other things.

How ironic! I just put this one in the FAQ.
Q: Sometimes random tiles turn to flat ocean. Is that a conflict?
A: Once again, not necessarily. I've noticed that the map sometimes glitches out and places city tiles in wrong places, "deletes" others, etc. However, this is temporary and should dissipate if you load one map and load our map again. I'm not 100% sure on this, either, however...
Time to see if my theory actually works! :v:
I'm logging off for now. If any of you guys want invites, I think other members of the collaboration can actually invite you, but I'm not 100% sure. Try it out, it'd make things a lot easier on me if you can.
You guys need to place ferry terminals and sea ports so we can get boats going.
i don't think this will ever work out
Is there a specific version we need to play this or does it not matter?
i don't think this will ever work out
Dropbox really isn't meant for collaborative stuff like this, FTPBox was suggested in the last thread and I think that's a much better solution (You can do fine grain access controls, stop anybody else from modifying or deleting regions they don't own, etc.)
I wonder if this is possible to do with a version control system such as git or svn.
They'd allow fine tuning what you can edit and what you can't.

Now that's not a bad idea at all.
Just an idea - we could make the plugins folder shared as well, so everyone has the same mods.

GENIUS
Asking permission to connect my city with "Twin Rivers", owned by "BBarnes005"
I have some industry demand, but don't wanna ruin my beautiful city with it.

We only need a repository and an hour of everyone's time to configure the clients and teach them how to use them.
Sent you a PM

I have a fuckton of plugins, I just have to sort out the cheats and give away the rest of them.

Thissss this this
Just for future reference, I don't care if any of you guys connect to my cities.
Should we create a .txt in the dropbox just for notes and permissions and whatnot?

The reddit collab hasn't had any problems with hitting any Dropbox bandwidth caps, and we had over 1.0Gb of plugins saved to the dropbox folder that everyone had to download. :v:

The problem with using a version control system is that modifications aren't instantaneous like they are with Dropbox. If someone makes a lot of edits to their city, and commits the changes to the repository, everyone else won't get those updates until they check out the latest revision of the region.

You can set the VCS to do periodical commits. Also, the others will have to first check out, then they can commit. There won't be any conflicts, it'll just merge the 2 versions, leaving the changes intact.
The main advantage of VCSs over Dropbox is that you can lock your own region file, making it impossible for the others to edit that. This way everyone can play at the same time, because the lock will disallow them from updating the surrounding other regions.
One commits, the second guy checks out, merges and commits, third guy checks out, merges and commits, and this goes on until first guy has to commit again. You could do a cronjob (or whatever Windows uses) on every player's machine that would keep up this order of committing and checking out.

Sure I need the business deals anyway; Nevermind, Twin Rivers has been wiped off the map.
