I be tempted to join ya'll, but I haven't really played this game since it was released. (and I wasn't exactly good then)
Yay for having nice people as friends on steam. http://i.imgur.com/zf6j6.png I was planning on buying it early next month, however he decided to buy it for me. Why is there an airport in the middle of the city. In fact, why is there a city in the middle of THOUSANDS OF TALL BUILDINGS Honestly, it's like SC2000 all over again
Why is there an airport in the middle of the city. In fact, why is there a city in the middle of THOUSANDS OF TALL BUILDINGS Honestly, it's like SC2000 all over again
Sims just don't give a fuck

They like to come in for landings on their side and between tall buildings.
And the planes just bounce off the buildings anyway.
I be tempted to join ya'll, but I haven't really played this game since it was released. (and I wasn't exactly good then)
It's not that hard, really. The only real hurdle is making a profit early on. Once you do that, usually you can keep a profit if you get into things like healthcare and education slowly. I have a tiny guide in the OP about it. It ain't much, but it can keep your city from sinking in the red right after being established. What I find hardest in SimCity is making effective mass transit systems, I can only make basic highways and the like.
What I find hardest in SimCity is making effective mass transit systems, I can only make basic highways and the like.
It feels like what you end up making isn't used.
It feels like what you end up making isn't used.
In South Svenicago there is a subway/bus station on almost every block. Do the sims use it? Only a few. Sims are too lazy to walk down the block.
In South Svenicago there is a subway/bus station on almost every block. Do the sims use it? Only a few. Sims are too lazy to walk down the block.
It's like you need one bus station PER HOUSE
It feels like what you end up making isn't used.
There are mods which rebalance transport so sims don't refuse to use anything but cars, so they'll take the bus or light rail/subway if they can and not only if every possible route to their workplace is totally gridlocked.

I'd like to know which ones, if you could.
hey guys i made a SC4 tutorial: how to not go bankrupt: 1. when your expenses are higher than your income, make more zones 2. you are now making money
What happened to the plugins?
hey guys i made a SC4 tutorial: how to not go bankrupt: 1. when your expenses are higher than your income, make more zones 2. you are now making money
What if there's no demand? The zones just sit there. When there is a little bit, they build it over then abandon it. If you're supplying tons of city services elsewhere, then new zones will not develop AT ALL without a similar level of catering. What if one hasn't enough money? When infrastructure is not available, or zones aren't all zoned, the neighbourhood might be stunted. Sometimes it is a viable solution to cut out the fat, and reduce expenses. Sometimes a tax increase is the best solution. Sometimes, new zones will not solve the budget problem. There are many situations in which one could go bankrupt and just as many ways of dealing with each problem. All-encompassing guides and such can only go so far, the most effective strategy guides will basically do little more than challenge the assumptions of new mayors. Consider the assumption that people won't build if there's no services. The 'bare essentials' is the solution to this and I'm sure it has helped many begin to build stable and maybe flourishing cities. Perhaps new players are inclined to build an airport as soon as they are asked. A good tutorial will reveal the existence of other demand cap breakers and their value as alternative to airports. I've found that there needs to be an average income of about 40K in a city before residential zones start to break even. It might be good to just always zone things as long as they're in demand. I don't know. Besides, everyone knows you can't do things like that if you want to become a senator. It's definitly the elephant in the room.
Shit man I'm sorry if I ruined your beautiful Keys. How did you get 50K in debt if an incinerator costs only 25?
Really? I'd like to know which ones, if you could.
Sorry, I just use a merging of a couple of mod packs and am not sure what exactly does what. I'm fairly certain it's at least partially NAM though.
Well, you could always cut funding, but that'd make the transportation adviser angry...
I'd advise against this. You will regret it. From what I've seen my demand for residential and commercial shot up once I added all the stupid buildings. I put in a zoo, a few parks, stadium, and BAM. Demand shot right back up. Svenicago now has over a million population total:
I'm going to drop some mod in the Dropbox real quick. Tell me if it turns all your trees tropical, because that's... not supposed to happen. Also it looks like the region is getting kind of crowded already again. I think I might do more regional extensions soon, if nobody objects.

There are still some vast expanses in the center.
Wait, are you guys still using Dropbox?
Yes....I hope we switch soon
Until I get in, could I have a list of mods/plugins/stuff you're using in the meantime? Primarily for when I'm on my lappie in college.

Takes more work though.
SPRING BREAK MOTHAH FUCKAHSSSS
I just set up my NAM properly and it's like all citizens in my city are taking the bus now :v:
