A bunch of games meet these criteria that sell poorly and are pirated, off the top of my head:
Braid
World of Goo
STALKER
GRID (PC sales specifically)
Zeno Clash
Again, I guess i'm not normal.
4 out of the 5 games you listed I both pirated, and paid for.
I pirated Braid, Stalker, and World of Goo before purchasing them.
GRID I pirated after buying, when I wanted to reinstall it, and the CD was too scratched.
I just hate when good games get pirated like hell. Crysis, Mass Effect 2 and so forth.

Didn't those games sell massive amounts of copies in the Direct 2 Drive sales and the Steam sales? (I haven't even HEARD of Zeno Clash though)

Everybody who pirated Mass Effect 2 and wasn't planning on buying it should kill themselves.
Some people just like free stuff
pirating is a way to get free games

I have bought all of them. Though world of goo I got for 1c, so that counts as steal I guess.
0 Day Piracy is bullshit. The people who pirate a game before it's release and have paid their money are still going to buy the game if it's good. And if they don't, they didn't like the game and nothing is lost.
i own every multiplayer game.. because i must own it to play it, however, singleplayer is a different matter.

3 of them I have bought.
1 I bought after pirating it

That seems to be a moot point though, you all bring that up as the big conspiracy of the devs to "ruin" the secondhand market with DRM, but Steam does it as well, and yet it's like a pantheon of gods to you all.
The point being is that i've never had the want nor need to re-sell any valve games i ever bought (besides OB on PS3, and only after i bought it all on PC)
Valve add Free DLC to most of their games at such a rate that they just never get old. And besides if you really don't like the games just ask the man with the heart so big you can see it from the outside and he will refund you the money.
Yes it does happen, if you really don't like valve games they will refund you. They're sweet like that.

See this is what open betas and extensive demo's are for.
You show the customer what you have to offer and say.
"well this is the gist of what we have done! If you want it, you can buy it."
