Holy Shit, Tanner's back.
Does anyone know why do all cars have no wheels when I play Driver 1 on Windows 7? I can't google the problem, because google thinks I'm searching for hardware drivers, not the game. [editline]12:53PM[/editline] Well, I fixed it, by switching from my video card to "primary display driver" in the settings.
The new teaser looked pretty good. I hope the focus is on driving cars, and not trying to be like GTA with shooting people and all that.
Me and my dad would play the original on the PC. I'd do the acceleration, he'd do the steering. He always had to do the first mission, and he didn't let me watch the cutscenes. Later I discovered all the mission data was just text files... Lose the tail man! Fly, man, that's the car with the French cat in! Hey, my name is Tico, I got to see a dude with a baaaad memory! His memory just got better! You come see me down Fisherman's Wharf! It's Mayaaaaaaaa! She's dyiiiiiiiiiing! Where're we going son? Nice driving son! You come back here and you take your badge back Tanner! Then, of course, there's getting a bunch of cars on the end and in the middle of the bridge in Istanbul, then raising it...
I loved Driv3r's soundtrack. Soooo good.
I loved Driv3r's soundtrack. Soooo good.
I ordered Syntax's album "Meccano Mind" immediately after hearind "Destiny" play in the trailer. This was when I was like, 9 too. It's such a great album.
I think I prefer Driver to GTA. The style, glamour and coolness of it...
I agree. I don't know why, GTA feels too......complicated for me. Driver is simple and fun, that's all I care about. but the missions will drive you batshit insane. Fuck the President, why do I need to drive him to a seedy parking garage on the other side of town?

HEY! MAN! WATCH THE PAINT!!! Ohhh yeah...
Jones? in Driver 2 I think that is his name, I still have driver 2 somewhere. and Driver 1 had a kickass soundtrack. WOA- JEZZ! WHAT THE-
Yeah, Jones. He was in Driver 2 and Driver 3. His real name is Tobias Jones, I have the Driver 3 strategy guide, I know this stuff :P
This game had some of the best lines for the training mission. "You wrecked the car man!!"
Oh God yes, the first Driver is awesome. And by awesome, I mean fucking insanely hard, if your driving skills in Driver was average, you were amazing on any other driving game. That's just how awesomely hard it was.
I could get to the car i'd just never get it out of there and by the time I started driving the pickup away the train would slam me. [editline]10:12PM[/editline] I eventually did it with the help of a friend who let me borrow his memory card to copy the data
I have the same emotion towards "Kill Jericho", the last mission in Driv3r. Fucking where the shit do I go? If I stay to the left I get assbanged by a wall, and I can't go right because there's a train in the way. Also how did 30000 of Jericho's men get over there without the police noticing?
I really want a remake of Driver 1... Done right. [editline]11:16PM[/editline] Actually just found this in another thread http://driver.uk.ubi.com/teaser/ Could it be???

I hope so. That'd be nice. I just hope UbiSoft doesn't fuck it up like they did with Myst.
I love the part in the Driver theme from 1.00. Sounds great. What's the bonus mission in Driv3r on PC? That's the only version I played, so I don't know the difference between the platforms. While looking for E3 info, I've seen that Ubisoft have registered a website called 'driversanfran.com'. Sounds interesting. Also this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyP5SXQd_7E Had 2 on GBA, as well as on PS, but I didn't know 3 was on GBA as well. The jumps sounds!

Hmm, back to San Francisco? Driver was always a fun series for me, but I hated every mission in Driver 3. Except the mall one. I eventually remembered the location of the mall and found, to my glee, that you could still drive through it. Driver: Parallel Lines was way more fun than Driver 3, and I think the garage system was well-implemented. I thought of the Replay as a small, small loss, but after seeing that epic video from Simkas, I lament it's death. Watching custom speed-machines racing through the city would be awesome, but the game would need more small detail. With today's tech, it would easily be possible. Just look at Just Cause 2! I hope they release the new Driver for PC, because it would seriously flop on the PS3. The Xbox would be the only viable console option; how would you control cars and guns on the [del]bodily-fluid console[/del] Wii. The PC would be the only other portable option. Not many Driver fans would have the PS3. If it only comes out on Xbox, I would rather buy Just Cause 2 and get Vista on a multi-OS system. Oh yeah: I hated that Driver 2 mission where you had to get the four cars in Havana. I did like the AI; usually tard AI is a major frustration in something like Left 4 Dead, but in Driver it just adds in the fun factor. [editline]10:05PM[/editline] Oh yeah, for a previous user's benefit, the extra PC mission for Driver 3 was called 'The Hit'. You have to chase down Tico, the guy who's construction site gets destroyed by yourself when you have to prove your worth to the gang.

It's like you have to push it at least 3/4 of the way to the left or right to get the slightest turn to register.

But really, you expected a GBA game to be like a console game?
The GBC and GBA Driver games were good for what they were, but are poor compared to the PS1 and PS2 versions
Driver was insane difficulty, If the car got too damaged you failed and if the cops got you you failed. It was hard, but it was worth it.
The GBC and GBA Driver games were good for what they were, but are poor compared to the PS1 and PS2 versions
Well obviously a portable version cannot hold as much data as a CD during the time period that Driver was released, so it's generally accepted that portable games were of a lesser quality than their console brothers.
i didn't play any other drivers but i quite liked driver 3, i found its recording function to be quite cool
