And you don't get to play as the leader of the creed, because the game ends. Altair was a cocky and dumb Assassin. Oh, and you don't even find out about the blueprints until AC2, so how is that at all in favor of AC1 [editline]05:12PM[/editline] I'm not saying Altair was an awful character, it's just that Ezio is in my opinion a better protagonist.
Altair was cocky and arrogant in the beginning and then he realized how much he can get fucked over when he does so, he changed his personality. I mean shit i don't think a cocky, dumb assassin could keep a creed stable for 4-5 centuries.
I want actual stealth though, not "social stealth". Having one is no excuse not to include the other. And if they're supposed to be assassins, why do they wear clothing that sticks out so painfully in contrast with absolutely everything else, making it easy for guards to recognize you on sight? Aren't you supposed to, you know, blend in?
The same multiplayer type has been released for the iPhone some monts ago.
Yeah I own it for the iPhone as well, although its not as detailed gameplay wise as it is for AC Brotherhood. The game is called Assassins Creed 2 Multiplayer in case any of you want to check it out.

That said, the getup is to hold all the tools of the trade and also because if you don't put any armor on when you're climbing walls of castles and shit 1 arrow or 1 sword will put you out of business. In the AC1 trailer, he blended in with some white robed monks. I wish more of them were around, cause then it would be a bit less "look at me I'm an Assassin :P" and more "Hey guys I'm a traveling monk STAB" [editline]10:52PM[/editline] And by actual stealth do you mean sneaking into complexes? Because that happened about 4 or 5 times in AC2. There are side missions where you cannot be seen, primary missions too.
Multiplayer looks fun.
woah woah woah woah, Multiplayer?!?

Also, there isn't anything special about his robe, he could have pockets sewn into civilian clothes, and no one would know the difference, and leather plates can be easily sewn onto the inside of regular clothing, providing a protective "Vest" of sorts.

Since forever? In AC2, if your robe isn't blinding white it actually fits in quite well in my opinion. Especially if you color it one of the city colors that you're in. It's not what everyone else is wearing but everyone else is also wearing big getups so it isn't terrible. I don't understand what your definition of "blending" and "actual stealth" is, so I won't go there. All I'm going to say is you're probably wrong.

I'm not even sure where you got it into your head that all assassins wear bright white robes that instantly identify them to other people, so I'll skip over that for now. The people, in AC1, are wearing different shades of brown. You're wearing a large, white robe, with a red sash. Not only does this mean that you'd be recognized on sight, kind of defeating the purpose of an assassin, it also means that blending in with the scholars is an incredibly unrealistic thing to do. Actual stealth. You know, that whole "We probably shouldn't make the guards instantly aware of Altair/Ezio ass soon as they see th... oh wait, for a second, I forgot that they stick out like a sore thumb. That being said, they should have a chance to sneak up on guards without being seen because, as it stands, even if a guard has his back turned to you, and you're walking he'll still automatically be put in yellow alert mode.
I have a question, Is this more just like an expansion? Or technically assasins creed 3?
Assassin's Creed 2 is the sequel to the first Assassin's Creed I believe. I say that because I think you're playing the main character from the first one again.

If you're on a rooftop, they will always be yellow, because you're not supposed to be up there. But as soon as you get into a city, they aren't looking for you and are oblivious. Also, yellow alert mode means they're curious, if you are walking, they won't attack you. So I don't know what you're complaining about.
tits [editline]01:19PM[/editline]
Assassin's Creed 2 is the sequel to the first Assassin's Creed I believe.
I have a question, Is this more just like an expansion? Or technically assasins creed 3?
It's Assassin's Creed 2.5, it's finishing up the story with Ezio and what he did after he found out the special thing at the end, and i assume it's also giving more detail into what Desmond did after his little ordeal at the end.
The point I'm trying to make is, yes, in the game assassins wore white robes. The point is, they could have easily changed that, as nowhere in history did the entirety of assassins wear white robes. Also, the yellow alert thing hangs true even if you haven't done an assassination in the city yet. And if you get within around 3 feet of them, they'll attack you. (Also, another thing that annoys me, but isn't really the games fault. Jumping around in a city street will NOT make police run up to you and shoot you. I understand jumping is a way to get to the roof etc, but still) My complaints, by the way, and I should've verified this earlier, are based mostly on AC1, although a lot of it happens in AC2 as well.
The jumping/running are because you're going high profile and making a scene, so you're more likely to be noticed and recognized. And AC2 is a lot better than AC1, I thought you were arguing about AC2. :P
I really like the multiplayer. In fact I might buy it just for that.
this game should be named kamikazeee, considering so-called "assassin" is going like a tank for his prey.
this game should be named kamikazeee, considering so-called "assassin" is going like a tank for his prey.
thats a dumb idea
I think people don't really understand the concept behind the Assassins. In AC1, the way the culture was, it wasn't about stealth. It was about publicly assassinating people in the wide ass open in order to send the political message that whatever shit the dude was doing isn't going to be tolerated. They wanted people to know that the Assassins were behind it. They wanted to be seen approaching someone, they wanted people to try and stop them. It sort of helped spread the idea "You see us coming and still can't stop us, so there's no use trying." In AC2, if you read Altair's journals, you find out that this wasn't flying so well as technology evolved. The Assassins had to modify their techniques to be more stealthy since it wasn't so easy to just barge in and kill everyone anymore. This also explains why moves such as hanging from a ledge, grab/stabbing a dude, then pulling him down (which you can do in AC2) weren't available in AC1. While they were forced to be stealthy/sneaky at times, that wasn't their main focus. They didn't develop stealthy maneuvers and such until later on into Altair's rule. But, even in AC2, the assassin robes still had a purpose. Ezio wasn't trying to conceal himself and hide that he was an assassin. Walking through the city streets, guards knew he was probably an assassin, but no person with at least half a brain is going to randomly start shit with an incredibly dangerous man. That is why they watch you closely when you're around, they know exactly who you are, they just don't know if you're there to cause trouble or not. If you're not, they aren't about to risk their lives by provoking you.
I didn't really give a damn about stealth in both AC games. I just ran around killing dudes, except for the times where I had to get to some guy without being detected or something like that. That annoyed me but I still got it done. I loved using the polearms in AC2 though, I'd always grab them and try not to counterattack with them so I could pick them back up after a fight. But I liked counterattacking with them because there's nothing I enjoyed more than driving my pole right through a guy.
Same here. I never used stealth in the AC games because I never needed it. I've never died during combat in an AC game, ever, even after racking up hours and hours into each one. The only deaths I've ever experienced were from falling off of high places/falling into water. Polearms are the shit. You can still pick them up after counterattacking. The polearm tends to get stuck in the guy from counterattacks, so just pick up his body after the fight, the polearm will drop onto the floor. Put him down and viola, your trust polearm is read to be thrust down another spine.
For me it's basically incomprehensible to die from combat because it's so easy. But I'd always die from time to time from accidentally jumping off a tall structure. I'd be like "NO EZIO NO!" and jump. And when I fell into water and drowned in AC1 I was just flabbergasted. But eh, only happened like 2 times. I can't believe I never found out that you can get the polearm back by picking the guy up, I spent like a 3rd of my total playtime in AC2 just going around killing guys with polearms.
I often use stealth in the games just because I'm used to it and like it. I also roleplay though. The polearms rock, I will step out of line and kill a spearman to get them. I also use the axes, but they are pretty dang slow. I like how they're making the AI more aggressive, the AI in the other games were almost TOO cautious. I mean, you're a dangerous assassin and all, but if they want to kill you, they have to actually TRY.

I'll probably be looking more for the singleplayer but the multiplayer is still kickass.
"Holy shit he just totally counter attacked, let's all attack one by one, he'll never see it coming."
Unlike ranged weapons, attacking all at once with melee weapons is generally not smart unless it's coordinated.
Wow, stop complaining about how unrealistic the game is, it's a fucking game jesus christ.
Hoping so bad for a co-op version. And also hoping for no god awful DRM. I might buy it for console anyway. [editline]07:04AM[/editline] The beginning already looks awesome. Fuck, look at all those siege weapons. [editline]07:04AM[/editline] I hope to god we don't have to put up with Desmond.
drm is going to happen. it's ubisoft.
I only had problems with DRM on the first week with AC2 on PC. People should stop being so dramatic.
