At the time both were being compared a lot, especially on the graphics side. Honestly I still think FL turned out prettier.

Thats true, however I think a hybrid game which took the controls, navigation and planetary interaction from Freelancer, the ships, networking and economy from EVE and simplified the whole skillbook affair would be prettty fantastic.

Got Freelancer working, I deleted my saves and it loaded normally.

Remember my post on page 2 about that dreadful community? that was the result of admins that spent all their time modding and never paying any attention to the community. Even though there were 3 community moderators, the mod went downhill until it was filled with entirely 12 year olds instead of chavs.

I can't get the Itano mod to work :( Even after following the readme.

I had so much fun the first few times I played through this, I want a sequel though. I want to be able to join one of the navies or other factions.

I played Vanilla freelancer for about 4 years on the Australian "GetOnIt" server.. Was in top5 Pvp'ers for a while. Used to fly from Planet Manhattan to Planet Crete in the starter ship no problems. Loved the system wars and the PvP.

Anyone still playing this? I just reinstalled it!
