Hurk. I remember this game, one with the nomads, right? Played it a lot. Starlancer, but more open.

In Discovery Mod, getting a ship with a huge cargo hold with a team of five or six, one or two usually mining in asteroid fields while the cargo ships came back and forth between stations, selling the loot and splitting the profits so the Miner got his share, was really good until the server i did it on alot shut down, i finally had enough for another ship with an even bigger cargo hold, i think it was the train.

If anyone wants to play PM me. I really wish they'd make a new one. This game is really great. There's yet to be a replacement for Freelancer, that has multiplyer.

Really enjoyed this game, on my 'if only they made a sequel! list'.

As far as i can remember, fighters cost 3000 credits (you start with 1000 and a very shitty freighter), destroyers would cost 500,000 credits, cruisers costed 700,000, and the best warships costed a million credits. The most well known trade run (which took 2-3 minutes to do) gave you 1.5 thousand credits. I can't believe that i spent 3 months on it (and it was elitist hell) and i ended up with 300,000 credits, which i used to buy a ship 2nd hand off another player. The ship transaction failed because he sent it to an account that didn't exist. Even if he had got it right, it wouldn't of mattered because while you fly in anything like a destroyer or a battleship, you can't fire on fighters. The result? mass spawn rape with fighters from the side which had the most elitists. They would dock on the planet in the most popular system, then they would do daily brainless pvp and they would constantly kill the people that tried to get out. The only thing the mods did to prevent it was to make a rule that said you had to be raped 5 times before they had to stop. The mods made me sick anyway, because on my first day i was almost banned because "i asked too many questions".

Launching, I can't wait to play through this again!

SP for this game was nuts, better than most storylines in games these days. MP is so much fun, I remember the last time I played me and my friend had one of those huge mining ships with like 100,000,000 credits or something like that. Microsoft was going to make Freelancer 2 but stopped :orks:

So what does FP recommend is a good mod to play with for just a few friends on your own server?

Yeah, you can't fly the big battleships, unfortunately. :( At least in the vanilla game.

Fucking awesome game, easily the best space trading/fighting one there ever was. It even had my tiny shitty-ass town in it as a space station! :3:

I remember the huge battles and shit. Flying between the Battleships, yeaaa...

Freeworlds is the best mod and community on it.

Battleships also like to get stuck in almost anything.
