seriously, why is this mod two gigs? I don't see, or feel anything different in the game save for the weather, prices and shit you can get from traders. then again, I am still in Cordon after a few hours of pretty much grinding to get money for better gear.
what's a good alternative to LURK? OL is the only one I've played and enjoyed, and I want to say ABC/AMK as well. I can't remember which one.

My Clear Sky doens't want to work. I install it, apply the newest patch, run the game, set the settings, it demands to restart, I restart, it gives me an error "cannot read fsgame.ltx"
I copy it to /bin/, then it gives me an error "cannot find /gamedata/configs/system.ltx, reinstalling the program might fix it"

I disagree with that part about not dedicating yourself to sniper rifles; I'm an avid fan of the Dragunov and I must say that during the last parts of the game its extreme power along with comes in handy against exoskeleton goons that requires headshots. You either put a bullet in their skulls halfway across the map, or if you're actually forced into a gunfight you just pop out from behind cover (or wait for them to do it) and quickly pick them off one by one.
Recently I went to Pripyat with GP 37 and felt like I did considerably worse than I would have with an SVD. I wasted ammo from spraying (thanks to it's unnecessary high ROF) and getting instant headshots was almost impossible unless on unaware opponents (since a 5.56 bullet to the head is not lethal apparently..).
The problem with being an SVD/SVU fan is that ammo is scarce. In Vanilla SoC I believe it can only be bought from Skinflint late in the game, outside from what you can loot off monolith snipers.

You can loot repair kits off bandits, to repair any armor and equipment (low drop rate however). Also, you can get repairs in the Freedom bas (Skinflint I think). Having a repairman in Cordon just feels strange to me, as that mean you can just shoot up a bunch of military/bandits and just steal the best weapons from start, and never have to use anything but the Merc suit armor.
I never used sniper rifles in Stalker games, sometimes the Vintar, but I just realized that the Dragunov is really powerfull and really accurate compared to the other guns.
I like to take the SVD with me pretty good for big suited guys, but ammo is quite expensive and pretty rare.
I'm still artifact hunting :v:, I'm too scared to go into x18. People saying that it's the worst part in stalker freaks me out because I already shit liquid bricks if I see a bloodsucker pop up infront of me.
Oh then play it at evening, all lights turned off and take your headset and turn the volume up and enjoy the stay in X18. It's really intense.

There are no bloodsuckers down there. Plenty of other things though, but no bloodsuckers.
If you can remain cool when the poltergeists start throwing stuff at you (preferably you blast them as soon as they float by you to get rid of them) and have the balls to deal with just a couple of snorks, you don't have much else to worry about. The place is full of good loot, there won't be any soldiers popping out of nowhere (until you're on your way out again), and the pseudogiant isn't even difficult if you just bring a shotgun.

Pseudogiants are not really scary, they are just tough opponents, but I'm a real pussy when it comes to ghosts and shit randomly flying around.

no. just... no. it's a choice. neither is better than the other in every way. NVidia seems to have better support, drivers and driver utilities, but you get alot less for your money, and if you want to use two cards in SLI, they have to be identical.
