Also, found Strelok's sig, fully upgraded it, and was disappointed when the only advantage it had over my already fully upgraded sig 550 was 2 bars more damage. every other stat was exactly the same.

I have the same problem; copy fsgame.ltx and paste it onto the game's exe.
It's the only way to make it work as far as I know

This post will generate some hate but I'll go on with it. To put it simple, I hate Call of Pripyat. I played it for a few days and I never got the STALKER feeling I was looking for, large spacious areas felt too big to have fun. If some overhaul mods come out though it might change my perspective.

I know what you mean. Clear Sky and CoP still can't convey that feeling that SoC does every time. I still really like CoP though, especially because the exploration element is so much more developed. In SoC, there really isn't much exploration. You have your seven or so areas that you know well, and Clear Sky was the same, with the exception of the swamp.
Call of Pripyat takes it much further. Not only are there lots of cool abandoned areas to explore (the first time searching the Yanov plant was so spooky), but the game rewards you for exploring with documents to sell, upgrade tools, and other stuff. Really neat, and adds to the "stalking" part of the game a lot. My current hierarchy of games is:
SoC>CoP>>>CS

So i just beat Clear Sky.
It was good, and the ending was eerie, but the end was really lacking and didn't make any sense.
EDIT: Ok so i read the wiki page, and it makes a little sense now, and it explains the link between CS and SoC.

It's pretty much why most of us agree you play them in order of their release... I still think that [sp]the last level sequence felt dumb and petty, like i was playing a minigame more than anything else. It was cool they tied the two together but it wasn't AWESOME. I suppose it's just a classic case of journey over destination.[/sp]

So I was being attacked by a renegade with a light machine gun (clear sky) I was coming towards him (it was a suprise attack) he clips me pretty good and I just happened to hit the medkit key as I was right in front of him, which meant I no longer had energy to move, so then I ducked down as he started firing back at me, and he actually missed me with every shot.
This was a triumph

I have an ak74 (just started) with a few accuracy upgrades but it still couldn't hit an elephant from 3 yards away.
