One of the reasons why I still like valve, they make the PC version first and THEN concentrate on shitty console ports.
I would of liked to mention the locked FOV and limited console in L4D2, but I'm afraid that a defence would be raised with some excuse or other. Well because I just mentioned it here comes the boxes.
LOCKED FOV my THE INHUMANITY
The FOV isn't locked, you can change it by adding
cl_fov=90
pl_movement.power_sprint_targetFov=90
To your autoexec.

A point to make though is that it isn't an option in-game, people could still change the field of view in Modern Warfare 2 which also didn't have the option.
people drop dead like flies every single day, millions of people lose their teeth due to malnutrition, and several places in the world suffer from genocide, but if only we could change the FOV! everything would be okay, if only we could have changed the FOV!
WHY DIDN'T ANYONE HAVE THE FORESIGHT!? WHY?

How does the first paragraph even relate to the topic at hand? Maybe for those who haven't realised it: Valve isn't perfect, Valve aren't the saviours of PC gaming. Valve may have some loyalty to PC gaming but since L4D2 Valve has been going downhill. I suppose people will still find a justification for the Mann Co Store, which sells cosmetic items at ridiculous prices when with things such as map packs you're at least paying for content that isn't for show.
Well, you've managed to convince me not to get Crysis 2. I was almost hoping that Crytek had learned their lesson and completely ditched the tortuous linear indoor levels that ruined Far Cry and Crysis for me, but apparently they just learned how to make them look like outdoor levels.
well who's gonna save PC gaming when we all lose our lives in the great scuba war of 2024 against the fish people of the netherlands
there's not gonna be a valve and there isn't going to be any electricity. you're gonna have to eat silicon just to survive!
didn't think about that shit did you?

actually both farcry and crysis were ruined by the aliens
crysis 2 actually has aliens that are fun to fight so that's something to think about

Why are you getting so hyped up about this? Ignoring the intended argument and just finding a few minor words and choosing those to start an argument there. I honestly don't give a shit about the whole "saving PC gaming" rubbish and I regret typing that now. There's lots of great games out there, on both PCs and consoles.

let's face it most of you spend your time worrying and posting about FOV in crysis instead of any kind of thought put into genocide or malnutrition
you're free to do so, but give me the freedom to point out how amusingly silly it is
I think its hilarious, the amount of people acting like Crytek was the messiah of computer games or something, getting so dissapointed
In a game that is literally on the cutting edge of graphic technology, that at this point in time has the most true to life graphics in a video game, still has characters that are 1 dimensional stereotypes and cardboard cutouts that any bum off the street could have come up with in an hour.

that was just to be funny
usually the scuba war against fish people gets a couple of laughs, tough crowd

This isn't a discussion about genocide or malnutrition, this is a discussion about games. All you're doing is derailing the thread.
its pretty fucking bad that the one thing that costs the least to develop, a good story crysis 2 has the least of

you damn right it's not

stories are always an afterthought, especially in games like crysis
even half-life 2 which had a story in mind from the beginning is full of plot-holes and non-sense
but it's forgiven

Crytek are good at building engines, not good at building games.

you're free to do so, but give me the freedom to point out how amusingly silly it is
No, you were claiming that most people in this topic consider it far more serious than any of those things, which is utter bullshit. Nor is it likely that things like FOV dominate one's worries to the extent you claim. This topic is essentially criticising a product, and warning others that it's a bad purchase decision.
In any case, thinking about those things isn't in the least bit helpful unless effective action accompanies it. Saying we should disregard discussion of games in favour of ruminating over third world problems exclusively, on a gaming forum no less, seems silly. Plus most on here haven't got a job with which to have sufficient funds to donate regularly to charities.

well it's still funny :colbert:
I totally agree with OP.
I haven't finished it yet and i don't see why i should continue.
Good thread OP, no sarcasm intended.
Get Deus Ex everybody, fuck this shit.
From what I played of the demo, I liked how they streamlined the nanosuit. You may say they dumbed it down, but really they just made it to where you have to actively think more on how to use your suit power than just running around as an invincible hulk in the suit. I also like how you can use more than one function at once. You can jump high, run fast, punch the shit out of something, and have your armor on (yes for a short period of time due to suit energy), but you can still do all of it.
[editline]30th March 2011[/editline]
As to the single player, I only had the demo because I dont have 60 dollars right now.
The one main thing that pissed me off most about the game was that all of Prophet's flashbacks where all third person somehow and with "artistic" camera angles. Also i didn't like how it controlled your entire screen just to open a door, bullet storm had the right idea.

Then i guess i'm free to point out how silly and offtopic your post is.
According to you i need to think about poverty everytime i want to criticise something.
