If you're broke like many people on these boards seem to be, then it is worth playing. Certainly better than Combat Arms or some shit like Gunz in my estimation.

Especially those of us without credit cards and/or systems who can run the top-of-the-line games.

For the most part no games other than MMOs are pay to play. Plus BF2 is like 7 years old now, if your PC can't run it then your PC must be ~8 years old.
