Doubtful. There's no reason why it would unless there was already something wrong with your computer. I own CnC 3 and never had a single problem with SecuROM.
You.... FUCKING RETARD!!!!! You just don't fucking get it do you? My PC was a little old back then, it could just about run CnC3 on med. After i installed CnC3 my other games became as slow as fuck and my GPU started having issues with certain games. I.E the drivers would reset for no reason. This never happened in CnC3 but it happened a lot in source games. The point I'm trying to make is that not all people have rigs like yours, just because you never had any issues doesn't mean other people didn't. [editline]04:51PM[/editline]
No, you're just too thick skulled to understand that if you don't have problem, other people still do.
I had to change this because what you said made no sense.
I see no reason why or how SecuROM alone could fuck up a computer.
I see no reason why or how SecuROM alone could fuck up a computer.
One easy way is that it's driver can take up a slot on the memory that something else was using. E.G people have had issues with their CD burning software after installing a game with securom.
I had to change this because what you said made no sense.
Yeah you're right
I'm well aware that other people can have problems when I don't. The point I'm trying to make is that you have no conclusive evidence that is was SecuROM that caused the problem.
I see no reason why or how SecuROM alone could fuck up a computer.
Rootkits is a pretty severe integrity infraction even if they are harmless. I mean, if you somehow hacked my computer and access my files, the breach in my integrity doesn't become any less severe just because you decided to simply leave a file in My Documents called "hello.txt" instead of deleting my Windows folder - You still hacked my computer.

But fuck it, what do I know? I've never had a single problem with DRM software in my life so maybe that makes me biased.
i hate drm too but it does have an effect on piracy (albeit very little), and come on, 15 installs.
Yes, it does have an effect on piracy. It increases the fucking thing by massive amounts, since it makes legal copies unplayable.
Oh the irony. Companies hate that their games are pirated and then pretty much force us to pirate them even more.
Oh the irony. Companies hate that their games are pirated and then pretty much force us to pirate them even more.
You're not forced to pirate anything.
You're not forced to pirate anything.
They're just trying to justify their actions.
SecuROM isn't a rootkit you tool.
Didn't it used to have a rootkit in it? Or was that StarForce? Or is it just people making shit up in an attempt to slander it?
They're just trying to justify their actions.
Seriously you can't justify piracy, it just makes things worse.
Didn't it used to have a rootkit in it? Or was that StarForce? Or is it just people making shit up in an attempt to slander it?
Third option.
Seriously you can't justify piracy, it just makes things worse.
Oh we both know that, but try telling them that and it's like you kill babies and drink their blood.
I'm not justifying piracy. (Owns a legal copy of every one of my games thank you very much) I'm trying to prove that installing a little virus like program on someone's PC is not OK. Besides wh would anyone like the concept of DRM?
We're not saying that we like DRM, we're saying that people are using it as an excuse. SecuROM is hardly a virus like program.
Besides wh would anyone like the concept of DRM?
It's a necessary evil in order protect games from piracy. The same concept applies to taxes; no one wants to pay them, but without them we wouldn't have emergency services, education, roads, etc.
We're not saying that we like DRM, we're saying that people are using it as an excuse. SecuROM is hardly a virus like program.
It's unneeded crappy bullshit. Instead of giving us a game to play, they riddle it with gfwl and securom, why is that shit needed? I'm not against them, I just don't understand why devs add drm that doesn't do jack shit
It's unneeded crappy bullshit. Instead of giving us a game to play, they riddle it with gfwl and securom, why is that shit needed? I'm not against them, I just don't understand why devs add drm that doesn't do jack shit
You make it sound like it's the developers fault. All they're trying to do is protect their work with a system that has proven, short-term benefits. If people didn't pirate so damn much then DRM wouldn't be needed.
should i cancel my Bioshock 2 special edition and get it on steam or keep my special edition pre-order
should i cancel my Bioshock 2 special edition and get it on steam or keep my special edition pre-order
Keep the special edition. You don't get that awesome LP if you get it through Steam. [editline]12:29PM[/editline]
You make it sound like it's the developers fault.
Because people totally wouldn't pirate games if there wasn't any DRM.
Because they totally won't pirate it if there is drm
Because they totally won't pirate it if there is drm
Well of course they will, but it adds time, time = sales. Mass Effect 2 is a great example, I'm sure the publishers really regret not adding DRM right now.
:yarr:
I think that prize goes to Crysis Warhead. In the pirated versions all your guns shoot harmless chickens instead of bullets. Although that almost encourages piracy...
Not really, Pirated Crysis warhead playes normal. :350: [editline]08:42PM[/editline]
Because people totally wouldn't pirate games if there wasn't any DRM.
No DRM = Lower costs for creating the game = Lower shop price = more people buying = less pirating.
No DRM = Lower costs for creating the game = Lower shop price = more people buying = less pirating.
I guess that's what happened with World of Goo right? No DRM, cost less than $20, yet was pirated by 90% of it's playerbase.
I guess that's what happened with World of Goo right?
