Why do they think this will prevent piracy? Treating paying customers like criminals, you might as well be a criminal.
Fuck GFWL when I brought GTA:IV it gave me endless problems.
Fuck you 2K games and your $72 Australian steam price.
never crashed for me, was never slow for me, never failed to update for me and did not suck any ass for me. stop claiming things because you had a bad experience with gfwl.
and reread the first page. people go as far as saying "forget bioshock 2" because of some drm. not buying a game entirely. because of drm. yeah.
Uh no fucking shit people are going to be hesitant to buy something with GFWL after having a bad time with it. What are they supposed to say? It's wonderful and great?
Update #2 "The "machine activation limit" has been lowered to 5."
WHAT, THE, FUCK.
all aboard the gfwl hate bandwagon!
all aboard the bioshock 2 instantly sucks because of drm bandwagon!
all aboard the people getting outraged that they might install the game 15 times and never uninstall it once bandwagon!
i hate drm too but it does have an effect on piracy (albeit very little), and come on, 15 installs.
Also since you say 15 installs then you're probably not interested in Bioshock 2 anyways so I don't know why you care so much. If you were you'd know the Steam page says 5.

Get with the times, people: 2K Games (formerly known as Irrational Games) is now called Irrational Games again!
I'll be the first to congratulate them for finally settling on a name that represents how they 'protect' their games now.
Well looks like I'll be buying this for my xbox instead. :(
Wow i'm a console gamer myself but that's just utter bullshit for you pc gamers.
What does Games for Windows do anyways? From what I've read, sounds kind of like steam but apparently shittier. Can someone explain?
The way i see it, it's xbox live on the PC.
I'm not buying it. fuck this
You need to be logged into a GFWL account to save, yes, but it just like GTA4. That is, you don't need to be connected to the internet and can use an offline profile.
I know several others have said it, but invasive DRM does absolutely nothing to stop piracy. Somewhere in the world there is someone with way too much time on their hands that will find a way around it while the legitimate customers are the ones who have to suffer. I think Arkham Asylum had the best DRM I've seen so far where certain areas were inaccessible and Batman's move set was severely limited if you pirated the game. This GFWL stuff is simply stupid.
TBH the only DRM that has really worked is cd-keys. Sure people can get keygens, but they can't play online with that.
We haven't evolved in DRM since.

No, no it doesn't. As soon as someone has the disc to something, they have every single tool they need to pirate it ,and no amount of DRM in the world will stop them from doing that. The only people getting shafted by this deal are honest consumers.
I was about to buy Bioshock 2 on the PC but screw this. I'd rather spend my money on Heavy Rain. I can deal with the install limit even though it's stupid but GFWL and I have a bad history. Complicated, Clunky, and pointless.

I'm sorry but if you think this DRM payload is nothing then I suggest you leave. The game might be awesome for all I care, but because of the DRM I'm not going to even bother buying it. I want to buy a game that doesn't treat me like a criminal, and lets me install it as many times as I fucking want. If I pay $50 for something that in 5 installs would be rendered useless, I'm not going to buy it.

I think that prize goes to Crysis Warhead. In the pirated versions all your guns shoot harmless chickens instead of bullets. Although that almost encourages piracy...
This is ridiculous! To think I almost bought it...
Pfft, software DRM is so 2008.
I never understood DRMs. It just makes pirates wait maybe a week or two to play the game and makes the installation process slightly more difficult.
Sigh... a good game ruined once again by DRM....

SecuROM is such shit at protecting anything that it takes them like a day to crack it
Well now I'm sad.
This ruined my birthday.
Too bad it's just going to get cracked anyway.
I joined the 2K forums just to yell and stuff at them. People are actually started to turn around and say "Hey, this sucks."
And there he is everybody, the one and only bandwagon whistle blower. He's a graceful beast and you're sure to find one in every thread. Just don't get too close or it could bite.
Your avatar went perfectly. Early 1900's black/white film style/voice.

Fuck I need to do this somehow.
snap
Waaaah, there's DRM on this, lets cry about it
It's like this guy wants to be treated like a criminal for purchasing a game. Sweet fuck man, did you get dropped on your head in the short bus?
Uh no fucking shit people are going to be hesitant to buy something with GFWL after having a bad time with it. What are they supposed to say? It's wonderful and great?
This is not the first time I was paying some attention to a game, found out it used GFWL, and walked away. I've had so much trouble with that piece of shit, on XP, let alone Vista :/ I've seen a lot of crazy computer problems since I started working tech support for the family ISP, but GFWL is on a whole other level of bullshit. It's at least as bad as Punkbuster, if not worse, for completely crippling your ability to play a game.
Fuck that, this is might the first FPS I buy on a console.
By buying this on console, you're still funding a company that sees fit to jam DRM down our throats. You guys are seriously not helping the problem.
Fuck this. I'm buying it on 360.
BIS's games had a cool system, though. It's called FADE. If you have a crack, the game will destroy itself. E.g. you turn into pigeons or your bullets can't hit the side of a barn a foot in front of you. It worked pretty well for the first few weeks the game was out, until crackers found a way around it. I wish more games did this :(
but they removed Secure-u-rom in ArmA on version 1.14. BIS loves the people who buy their games...
