I think you mean what has happened
Yes, but you get my point. Do they seriously think we, gamers, get more stupid after every year or something? :(
DRM is bad because you can never know when it will cause problems with your pc or games.
BRB cancelling preorder [editline]09:23PM[/editline] Nah just kidding I didn't actually pre order I just wanted to say that
Uh no fucking shit people are going to be hesitant to buy something with GFWL after having a bad time with it. What are they supposed to say? It's wonderful and great?
what? do you have the reading comprehension of a fifth grader? i'm saying people's experiences vary and that he was basically stating his claims as fact. if other people say they had a bad experience with gfwl, that's great, that wasn't my point.
Install limit on Steam? WHAT THE FUCK SHIT COCK.

Obviously the results vary, but most people are extremely disappointed with it.
I think that prize goes to Crysis Warhead. In the pirated versions all your guns shoot harmless chickens instead of bullets. Although that almost encourages piracy...
i want to shoot harmless chickens :buddy: [editline]10:34PM[/editline]
Soon enough you will need to use a fingerprint scanner to start your favorite game just to rule out the possibility of your friend trying it when he hasn't paid for a copy.
That would help, a small bit.
That would help, a small bit.
It's invasive and inconvenient, like most other DRM. What if my fingerprint reader malfunctions? It's bullshit that letting my friend try out a game I own for an hour or two when visiting me can even be considered piracy.
This is why people pirate.

Oh god... install limits... EDIT:
http://news.bigdownload.com/2010/01/21/bioshock-2-no-activation-limits-for-pc-version/ Stop whining!
That's a relief
I'm not worried anyways, I didn't like Bioshock much, so I probably won't even bother with this one. Especially now after hearing this.
This won't stop kids who just lend games to their friends because it allows a large amount of installations (holy shit 15). This won't stop internet piracy because cracking groups strip the DRM out of those copies of the game. Spore is a good example, it didn't even slow them down as far as I know. So essentially this DRM is fucking useless and only inconveniencing the customer by forcing them to purchase another copy. ITT Big companies use unfair retail tactics to extend a products lifetime using piracy as just an excuse. This is borderline profiteering and should be illegal. This wouldn't be tolerated in any other medium, why should video gamers put up with this shit? Why are we so poorly represented politically? Just to point out how stupid this is...how many copies will this game sell in the first day? What's that times fifteen? Yeah, that's alot of illegal copies. DRM does not do what it claims to do. It's just a scam. I would advocate buying a game and downloading a cracked executable so as not to use up activations. Don't let these corporate terrorists get what they want. Remember to keep the original exe backed up somewhere, in case you need to patch.
With CD's You only get 15 listens to this track before it is invalid. With cars You can only turn on and drive the car 15 times before it is invalid. with anything elss you can only use it 15 times That wouldn't slide anywhere.
I'll probably get this for the xbox now, not because of the DRM but because no one will buy the pc version now. Although I've been looking forward to the single player portion I've also been looking foward to the multiplayer but since people won't buy the pc version people won't be playing.
I raged for about 3 seconds, but I think it'll be worth it. [editline]06:09PM[/editline] Right? :ohdear:
Tempted to pirate it and just send 'em a check because I don't want that shit installed.
-;19771089']Tempted to pirate it and just send 'em a check because I don't want that shit installed.
I'd send them a letter telling them how shitty it was and how I pirated it because of their dumbness. And a 5$ bill.
I send them a letter telling them how shitty it was and how I pirated it because of their dumbness. And a 5$ bill.
How do you pirate a game that hasn't been released or leaked yet?
Sorry froget the 'd after I. rated heart.
Look at the front store page for Bioshock 2. Securom is not listed anymore. http://store.steampowered.com/app/8859/ Now browsing through the Bioshock 2 section in Valves forum I came across this: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1117326 Apparently it is an anouncement from 2K's Elizabeth, and I quote:
As many of you are aware, yesterday Steam's pre-purchase program began and the specs for BioShock 2 were posted along with that announcement. These specs were taken from the retail packaging of BioShock 2. And since bullet points on the back of the box don't always explain the full story, here is a little more detail about what that means. BioShock 2 is using a standard Games for Windows Live activation system, much like other games you have played in the past. That doesn't mean you always have to be online to play or save the game - you can create an offline profile for the Single Player portion of the game (you just won't earn achievements and you can't play Multiplayer, of course.) We are using SecuROM only as a disc check method for the retail copy of BioShock 2. That is it's only use.
Let's hope this clears up some confusion.
5 Install Limit! Wait is it like Far Cry 2 when you uninstall you can unactivate restarting the amount used?
Um it's still using Games for Windows Live.
Deal with it. What a petty complaint. [editline]09:56PM[/editline]
Look at the front store page for Bioshock 2.
You may say "if you've done nothing wrong you have nothing to hide!" That's fine but why should we allow people to poke their heads in with cameras at everything we do? IT'S THE PRINCIPLE GODDMANIT!
That Principle being: "Innocent until proven, not thought, guilty." not "Guilty until we've squeezed you for enough money/had our fun/stroked our peen/etc." [editline]10:00PM[/editline]
Deal with it. I mean :
As soon as I saw games for windows live I knew I can't buy it on PC.

That's why I mostly play on my Xbox 360, so I won't have to worry about these goddamn requirements. I'm looking at you: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare with your fucking video card requirements
