What's a good weapon for a SL1 run? Most of the builds I've seen use the club but I'm more partial towards the axe or does it really not matter given the limited selection you have. That or I drop it and just do a Darkwraith build instead this time around.

Is it just me or are the skeletal dog fuckers the most bs enemy in the game?

It's pretty much the best you'll have the ability to wield if you upgrade it.

Can only go SL1 if you start as Pyro so that's not an option. I've seen most people use the starting axe upgraded for the various boss weaknesses such as a Chaos axe for Gwyn, might be worth trying.

Might as well go axe then, was tossing up the morning star as a possibility but it's a bit slower then what I normally wield.

The 9 starting Dex is what really kills you. If you had just one more you could wield a good selection of shortswords with all the benefits they bring. Maybe grab the Battle Axe if you don't mind slower attacks, it can do some pretty nice damage with elemental upgrades.

Yeah that's what annoyed me the most at the start as I typically go shortsword+spear. But once I get some proper upgrades on the axe and some decent armor it shouldn't be too bad. Anor Londo is what I'm really not looking forward to the most on this run though as I had enough trouble with Cookies n Cream on my other builds as it is.

Reinforced club does 56 poise damage AND bleed. Axe does ~20 and no bleed. Club is superior.

As someone who's at almost exactly the same spot on their first playthrough, but just beat the 4 kings after also struggling with them for some time, I can give you what worked for me. Get all up in their grill - if you're on top of them, only the sword hilt will hit and do pitiful damage. You can get behind the king to dodge the AoE attack and only have to watch for the grab attack, and at that range that king won't cast either of the other spells. Try to max dps with whatever you have to hand. I'm playing as a dex thief build (yes for my first time through shut up I wanna get good not just tank everything), so I used a Balder Side Sword +15, heavy attacks exclusively, with the Leo ring for more thrust counter damage - and using charcoal resin on top too. This worked brilliantly - while it wasn't enough damage to 'skip' the last king, it did do enough damage to finish off each king before another arrived. Hopefully that should help you beat them!

I'm guessing not, but my +5 gold tracer goes pretty much as much damage as a +15 BSS with 300 bleed, so it can seriously murk bosses that are vulnerable to that effect. I finally made it through the game on SL15, and managed to make a Darkwraith with full dark armor dark sword and dark hand. Been invading people in the parish and so far have received a lot of positive messages.

Good god I never knew the BK Halberd was so good. I have this thing +5 and it's amazing.
